I said a Mother's Day prayer for you
to thank the Lord above
for blessing me with a lifetime
of your tenderhearted love.

I thanked God for the caring
you've shown me through the years,
for the closeness we've enjoyed
in time of laughter and of tears.

And so, I thank you from the heart
for all you've done for me
and I bless the Lord for giving me
the best mother there could be!

Very nice Mothers Day opening, Terri. Thank you.

I'm very tired right now. I baked a double batch of chocolate chip cookies for the volunteers at the convention next weekend and just finished ironing 6 r/w/b bunting swags with which to decorate our merchandise tables.

So, saying that, I think I'm off to find Morpheus. He's never here when I want him, but have no doubt he'll come very shortly if I but >yawn< call.

All you mothers out there have a wonderful Mothers' Day. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif

Why, thank you, Billy T!

OW, doofi! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I really need help with my plurals. Now I know to whom I can turn!

I'm finding out that my answers were not as solid as I had at first assumed.

I'm now re-thinking my answers ---

1. If that is to buy gas, the correct answer is MORTGAGE.

2. OUTDATED

3. I think I got that one right, but maybe the answer was THAT one.

4. Time for dinner, I'm HEATING my food.

5. I misunderstood the question. It's Bobby EWING (but I was dreaming when I posted the first time).

6. Answer a question must be REGURGITATE. Is that how you spell that?

7. If I'm not standing, I'm SLEEPING.

8. I'm going with OW on this one. DOOFI! Although I must say I thought Danny had it with DEVILSCUM.

9. If it's really little, is it an AMOEBA?

10. The opposite of old is YAHOO (who thinks he knows everything).

Okay, I think I did much better this time.

Actually, my children and I are invited two doors down, where my young neighbor Krista is hosting dinner for her "two moms," her stroke ridden mother in a wheelchair and me. #1 has made dessert and #1 will be nice. What more can I ask?

The Commodore & his Lady unto the Forum: greetings.

On this Mothers' Day, the Commodore & his Lady wish to extend a greeting to all the Mothers in the World, from Eve to the present day -- and beyond.

From Josephus, Antiquities Of the Jews, we learn of the legend of Zerubbabel:

Who is wiser? Wine, Kings, or Women?

Wine? It makes the King & the Beggar one, deprives all of their faculties, and makes men take up arms against their best friends.

Kings? Upon the King's word, armies are marched into battle, mountains are made into valleys, & city walls are erected or broken down.

Women? They are the mothers of Kings (and Gardeners). For the love of women, men risk all, and (sometimes) lose all. For the sake of women, men put aside their very lives so she can continue with her life. (This was Zerubbabel's argument, but based on it, he went into a thesis about Truth. For Truth is immortal and eternal; it remains when Kings are one with the dust, Wine evaporates into the air, & Women share the fate of all.

MAGNA EST VERITAS, ET PREVALET! Great is TRUTH, and it shall prevail!

Zerubbabel was declared victorious, and received his reward: rebuild the Temple of Jerusalem; exemption of the Jews from Imperial & Satraphic taxation; restoration of land taken from Judea to the Jews; sacrifices in the Temple for the life of the King of the Medes & Persians, and of his sons, at Imperial expense; 50 talents of gold for the Jews to construct the Temple; emigration of Jews & all others who wished to become Jews to Judea at Imperial expense; restoration of musical instruments used by the Levitical priests to them so that they can use them in worship; and confirmation of Cyrus' decree allowing the Jews to return to Judea from Babylonian exile. In all, 42,360 Jews of Judah & Benjamin were allowed to return to Judea and settle therein. And they, and their descendants did so, and remained in the Land until dispersed by the Roman Xth Legion as a result of the Jewish War (67-70 AD; 824-27 AUC).

I watched a two hour retrospective on the Vietnam War by R Lee Ermy on the History Channel today. It was the BEST one I have ever seen. It was from the point of view of a Marine Gunny who was there. *It brought tears to my eyes.
R Lee usually has me laughing my butt off with his rough and tumble comments on "Mail Call" *but all through this program he was dead serious. He visited Da Nang, Hue, Khe San, China Beach, Saigon, and the "Hanoi Hilton". What the Left and the Media did to the Vietnam Vets was a disgrace and a horror and should NEVER happen again. Alas, they are trying to do it again to our Troops in Iraq. We, as Americans MUST NOT allow this to happen. We MUST stand firm, support our Troops, our country, and our president in time of war. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif

Its been a great day, but its starting to fall apart - we are under a tornado warning for the next 4 hours, until 10 pm, EDLST. They have just issued another warning for an area about 60 miles from here. Appears that many who live north and west of us have lost power due to either tornados or micro burst. Guess its better than all the flooding in New England - at least ours is somewhat spotty. A number of places including Raleigh have gotten quarter size hail. We have had a number of thunderstorms but the sun is presently out in all its glory - probably won't last long. Hope we are here tomorrow http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

My Mother has been gone for several years and now MY WIFE is gone one year and one day, so I have no one, other than my daughter and one daughter-in-law and of course all you Mothers in this forum .

So from the bottom, middle and top of my heart, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.

Happy Mother's Day, to our wonderful Mothers here!

JavaJoy- That was a COOL way to do TRIVIA this morning. But, since the answers are a given, I'll bow out on this one.

I've been having some heart palpitations lately, which are very unnerving. They are actually "extra beats" as per the Dr. I went on Friday, since they got so bad at work that I had to leave at 8:30 am. I'd been having them for a few weeks, off and on, with some days having none. I don't like the feeling and am being proactive. I had an EKG on Friday where it actually recorded my palpitations in progress. There were 3 extra beats just in that small amount of time during the EKG. Dr. seems to think it's nothing dangerous but scheduled me an echocardiogram at the Cardiologist to check out the structure. I hope all is ok, as I would like some reassurance. I had them back in 2000, then they went away for a few years. I had them occasionally in the first stage of pregnancy but was told by the Midwife that it was due to the hormone progesterone. Perhaps hormones are still playing a role in this, but I am getting checked out thoroughly. I had three vials of blood taken, also, for a complete blood work-up http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I watched some Fox News today. I was glad Laura stepped up to the plate and called it like it is, addressing the "fun" the MSM is having w/ polls and numbers! Kudos, to our First Lady http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif And, I liked how she addressed how the MSM never reports on when W's numbers are *high*. :P Could she be anymore accurate? No http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I just got a great invitation the other day. It's for the "Girls of '86" in my graduating class. We are getting as many of us gals as possible for a "get-together" of dinner & dancing. It's 20 YEARSsince we graduated and I think it'll be an absolute hoot! Most of us didn't even attend a reunion yet, so this will be great. I'm taking my digital camera, in hopes to get some great pictures and especially a group photo. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif

I watched a little of Meet The Press this morning, too. Newt was good. Russert is still throwing curveballs at any Conservative, showing his true colors. Does anyone else think he's being so transparent lately? I think Russert shed his so-called 'neutral' position a few years ago. He is a left-wing hack more than ever http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

I almost forgot to tell you what Mike got me for my 1st Mother's Day!The Big Sweetie surprised me with a very beautiful gift: A bracelet of gold encrusted with real Peridot gems and matching gold/Peridot earrings! Peridot is Hailey's Birthstone (and his, too!), so it's very sentimental to me. The earrings are just the kind I like, too, the dangly ones that look so pretty and sparkly. The card he gave me was also beautiful. I was also taken out on Friday night to Damon's Grill for a mouth-watering dinner of BBQ Ribs and Herb-roasted chicken, baked potato, and broccoli. I also had a few beers to help me shake the jitters of these heart flutters. Unfortunately, the beer didn't help that night http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I sincerely hope each of you had a wonderful weekend.

I will check in again asap. Take care! Keep the Conservative homefires burnin', my passionate pals.

Thank you, Bud. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/kiss.gif

Still cold here although the rain has let up for awhile. *Hopefully it will be warmer next weekend so our scheduled picnic during the Republican Convention will be able to be indoors/outdoors as with about 100 people signed up we may be a little short of space if it must take place inside the yacht club.

Yacht club sounds so snooty, but about a quarter of the people who belong don't even own a boat and I have yet to see a yacht even tie up there, although I have it on good authority that they've seen a couple. There are some pretty pricey boats, but nothing that could be called a yacht.

I think the dues are about $50 per year.

The kids have called. Daughter the younger called and said she has a surprise for me when I see her next weekend. Daughter the elder called yesterday and said they should come over and I told her we hardly had enough room to put 5 people as I'm still pulling my pots, pans and food out of boxes sitting on the floor in the living room. I'm sure her children took her out to eat today which is as it should be.

Son called on his way home from the Saturday night "Hot Dog, Pop and Two Small Fries" gig. He said they stole the show from the headliners. Their new song is "Lazy Bones" and it really sounds great, they sing it melodic, rhythmic and ................. lazy.

I'm still trying to get them to sing "Small Fry" but with "Lazy Bones" they really don't need another laid -back Hoagy Carmichael song in their limited repertoire.

Glad you're having a laid-back day, M-L. You need that.

Yesterday and today The Hub and I had a Monster Movie Marathon. *We finished up today with "Lethal Weapon" which we both discovered we hadn't seen and a re-run of "Three Musketeers" which I had only seen part of because I was preparing dinner when it was run the first time. *I love swashbucklers but that one was so choreographed it could have been directed by Fred Astaire, which is a good thing if it's a musical, but not if it's a swashbuckler.

Der Alte, I will lend you my basement. *I will now call FedEx!! ................It's on its way.

Just get under the folding table between the washer and dryer. *It's made of 2x4s. *And there's a gallon of water there just in case you're trapped for awhile. *Not the bleach, silly, the one labeled "water"!!

See you tomorrow DA!

C'mon, Ror http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cowboy7.gif It's your turn on the trivia machine!

I never did find the white shark, BillyT. *What did you do with it?

The pastor at church gave a wonderful Mother's Day message. It was right on target, and lifted mothers up to the ultimate role in our society. Not only are they special, but they are the seed of our children, and decide the future of our nation, or any nation.

Sounds like a lot of responsibility to me.

Most of what I am is from my mother, and I am sure many of you feel the same way. Mothers will decide the future of this planet.

Thank God! What if it were the fathers? If would be death to the end! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
