Kerry: Opposing Iraq War Is Patriotic
By MARK PRATT, AP

BOSTON (AP) - Those who disagree with the Bush administration's policies in Iraq face the same scornful charges that they are unpatriotic as Sen. John Kerry did 35 years ago when he spoke out against the Vietnam War, the Massachusetts Democrat said Saturday.

"I have come here today to reaffirm that it was right to dissent in 1971 from a war that was wrong. And to affirm that it is both a right and an obligation for Americans today to disagree with a president who is wrong, a policy that is wrong, and a war in Iraq that weakens the nation," Kerry said to a standing ovation Saturday at Boston's historic Faneuil Hall.

*John Kerry says... oh by the way, did you know he served in Viet Nam? Oh yeah, even spent Christmas in Cambodia with Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando. Well, not really, but sometimes one wonders if Kerry got some of his apocalyptic ideas (pardon the pun) from screwballs like Sheen and Brando, although most of his brainless drivel is pure Ted Kennedyisms. Anyway, Kerry plays the typical, trite, tired old liberal game of accusing Republicans of accusing Democrats of accus... hey, it gets complicated, dear hearts. Put plainly, it’s reverse psychology. Those on the left love to represent themselves as righteous, pure at heart, and falsely accused of this, that and the other by those intolerant, red-neck red-staters. So Kerry trots out the grotesquely ludicrous ‘Nam - Iraq comparison again, and assumes the wrongly-accused defensive-posture mantle by reiterating that good and brave folk like him are labeled unpatriotic for opposing the war. The old trying-to-have-it-both-ways “we support the troops, but not the war” equivocation. Well gee John, it is a little hard to see how Democrats who aid and abet our enemies by saying our president is a liar who started an illegal war for no good reason can be called patriotic, and accusations of *“negligence and incompetence” don’t exactly inspire patriotism. Kerry further pontificates on those who question the motives of the Rumsfeld-hating retired generals, calling them “cheap and shameful.” *No John-boy, you’ve got it backwards. Patriotism is not allowing an obviously politically inspired, carefully orchestrated and coordinated attack on the Secretary of Defense to succeed. It’s your pathetically anti-American little speech that is cheap and shameful.

Jack, if you want some fun, go to communistsforkerry.c om. The site is a hoot. Criticizing the war and aiding and abetting the enemy are too different things which is something Lurch hasn't figured out yet. To him its kind of like ribbons and medals they're the same. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
