Bill Cosby tells New Orleans blacks to reject crime
Reuters
NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Entertainer Bill Cosby urged New Orleans' black population on Saturday to cleanse itself of a culture of crime as it rebuilds from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina last year.
Cosby, whose criticism of some aspects of modern African-American culture has stirred controversy in recent years, told a rally headed by black leaders that the city needed to look at the "wound" it had before Katrina struck.
"It's painful, but we can't cleanse ourselves unless we look at the wound," Cosby told the rally of about 2,000 people in front of the city's convention center.

I wish Ray Nagin would STHU!! I'm so sick of his flapping mouth, blaming everyone but himself for everything.
I don't even know how he has the nerve to even run for office again.
If I were a New Orleansian I'd be throwing rotten tomatoes at him every time I saw him.
He's a miserable excuse for a mayor, a man and a citizen of the United States!

I'm sure J$ss$ J$cks$n and Al Sh$rpt$n have jumped on this with all the support! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Oh, you say they need blacks ignorant to maintain their power base? Maybe so, maybe so.

Did anyone hear the commentator on Fox News yesterday, ranting about "institutionaliz ed racism"? Oh brother. She trotted out all the usual arguments--well, Bill Cosby wasn't lying, these problems exist, but it's all Caucasians' fault, the only reason these problems exist is because of institutionalized mass oppression by Caucasians....the usual blather.
Wise up honey--there is only one race of human beings and that's human beings. Come and join us. Hey Mayor Nagin--how 'bout let's make NOLA a human city?
Blessings,

Bill Cosby is one smart fellow, and I think they should listen to him. He really makes sense. Too bad that there are so many of the other kind that will be muddying the waters behind him. We all need to pray for Bill Cosby and pray for the ones that are against him.
God bless America and President Bush

An unidentified source said that after Cosby's speech, Bill was seen handing out the pudding....

So, Cosby was seen handing out pudding. Was is indeed chocolate? That's what I want to know. (No need to reply, I know, at least I hope, you were joking.)
Well, I also enjoy hearing some not-so-common sense from Cosby, but don't forget that HE, like the REV Jesse Jackson, was paying hush money to the mother of HIS illegitimate child. At least BC doesn't dare to call HIMself REVEREND.
It amazes me that apparently in their "culture", adultery and illegiti tomate children don't even register a blip on the screen. That they can come out with all their self righteousness and accuse the truly innocent of every hate crime is amazing to me.

Sorry about that illigit spelling of illigitimate in my previous post. That was unintentional.
Much more newsworthy than Cosby was the sight of ex-mayor Mark Morial wearing a t-shirt that proclaimed the slogan:
BRING NEW ORLEANS BLACK! (that is not a typo)
These people are hypocrytes! Brazen racists! Only the David Dukkke type would dare to do equivalent on the white side. But what is the difference? Dukkke is shunned from all serious politics. Morial, Jackson, Sharpton, and Nagin, are treated not only like mainstream black but like royalty. Something is wrong with this picture. And how can Jackson get away with bringing in buses of protesters from other states? Who is Jackson, Morial, Sharpton, etc? Not New Orleans citizens. They have no business interfering with OUR business.

One more rant, that's it! Here is what burns me up the most about this disgusting protest march this Saturday. The point of the protest was to oppose having the election this early. (They wanted to have more time to muddy up the vote, register dead people, etc.)
So, in typical form, there he was, foot-in-mouth NAGIN, marching side by side with protestors, with obviously no apology for associating with them.
Do you get it? There he is, protesting the election, at the same time, he is running in it! How can you pay to campaign in an election and simultaneously protest it?
Not a blip on the radar screen for them. No conflict whatsoever. The end justifies the means. God save our city.

Bill Cosby is a smart man, too bad he was standing on the same stage with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson when he said all of this. *He could be a powerful force in the Black community, but as long as he aligns himself with the likes of Sharpton and Jackson, he will be ineffective. *The country needs to quit playing the "race card" and start reminding people that we are all are Americans and we all need to take responsibility for our actions and our families. *Until that happeneds, things will not change. * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif

I’ve heard several of BC’s talks about the black problems http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shocked1.gif. *He always tells them if you want up, pull yourself up. *I’ve never heard him blame us http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/clap.gif.
I think it is a shame too, that he appears with JJ http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pinocchio.gif and AS http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pinocchio.gif and I’ll bet money another woman appears to accuse him of something in short order http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/reporter.gif. This has happened at two of BC's previous speak-outs.

Mr. Cosby speaks the truth. It is much easier to take Jackson's or Shapton's way and play the victim. Here were I live we had a record murder rate last year. Over 80% of those murdered were black. All of those individuals were all killed by blacks. This community needs to wake up and start listening to people like Mr. Cosby. The only way out of poverty is education. You can't steal or deal your way out. You're most likely not going to be the next Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods. Thanks for letting me rant about this. Later. :flag17

I have learned to listen carefully to Bill Cosby whenever he speaks out on a subject related to family values. *I have been watching him for almost 50 years and he is always right on target.
I remember when he was raising a family in CT and the young children were complaigning about not having a TV set in the house. Bill forbid it because of the anti-family values which were then becoming corrupted.
Finally, he relented with the proviso that they would have to watch every minute of the new TV Sitcom which he had just started.
You may remember that it became an immediate success and is still a regular re-run from superstation WGN Chicago. From what I am able to determine, the children turned out just fine, thanks to 'Dad'.
Keep up the good work, Mr.Cosby; America and the World needs more of you.

He wants someone to do something to guarantee a fair vote? Isn't that HIS job? What does he want, Louis Farahkan to come in and over see it or maybe Jimmie Caaaaaaaata? If he can't have a fair election in the city he runs, the people in Louisiana must be more corrupt than the mob and he more inept than previously known.

I don't think you can accuse Cosby of aligning himself with Jessie, Sharpie and Fairy. It took guts for him to stand before the same audience and tell them the truth about the morals of their race. BC should have been giving his lectures 25 years ago when they may have done more good.
It is too bad more high profile blacks don't follow his leadership. Maybe it would get the black community off its "Victim" mentality.

I've admired this side of Bill Cosby ever since I saw him on an awards or talk show on television a few years ago.
The host, who was a black rap artist or actor, was yaking away in derogatory slang to Cosby about how different and old fashioned Cosby's show was.
Cosby deadpanned, "We spoke English then."
No sugarcoating, no bonhomie, no long winded moralizing, just calling a spade a shovel.
In fact, I don't think I can remember anything since involving Cosby where he wasn't making a huge point over how black culture was poisening the black community and that it wasn't the fault of anyone but the blacks.
The world needs more Bill Cosbys.
