Jewish ideas drive the world (crazy)
By Reuven Koret March 14, 2003

Farrakhan, Buchanan, Moran, the other conspiracy theorists whose names end in "an," and anyone else who claims that American Jews are pushing the United States to make war against Iraq, well, heck, they don't know the half of it.

Colin Powell was telling the truth, but not the whole truth, in reassuring Congress that Jewish Americans were not instigating or driving American policy with regard to Iraq.

It's not that America is controlled by the Jews. That's only the tip of the iceberg -- which, by the way, did not sink the Titanic. (Goldberg did.)

The Jewish lobby doesn't need to control American policies. Because this Administration is guided by principles which are essentially Jewish. And lest my meaning be miscontrued on the eve of our solemn Purim holiday, let me clarify that I mean: rooted in the moral vision of the Bible.

This kind of thinking has penetrated to the very highest echelon of the American government. Yes, you know who I am talking about. And no, not just you. Double-you.

Aknauta, you come up with the most interesting articles. I am glad you post a lot of these Israel or Jewish American articles, because I don't have the time to research them (but I like them).

Two things regarding Mr. Koret's article: one, it is true that GW is using what could be explained as Jewish morality and principles in guiding his administration, but the larger picture, is that they are Judeo-Christian principles, which essentially (except for the fine print) follow the same moral codes and ethics as traditionally "Jewish" principles. Second, it was interesting that Reuven (which is also my Hebrew first name, BTW), didn't comment at all on the potential influence that Ari Fleischer has had on the administration and the president. As RIM and others have stated, Ari is one of the best Press Secretary's ever to hold the position in DC, and in addition to being well-spoken, is also of high character personally and excellent morals. One again, the larger picture is that I believe the president has both surrounded himself with, and insists upon, people of high morality and ethics that will not conflict with those same values he holds as a deeply faithful Christian man. It is a refreshing change, and even those whose personal expression of faith you might not hear much about (Ari, Rumsfeld, Ridge), I truly believe that off the cameras, out of the limelight, that all of the top brass in the administration are deeply reverent folks.

Quote[/b] ]they are Judeo-Christian principles

Right. Yep that is the first thing that struck me too.

President Bush and his administration are a wonder. Grounded in solid Biblical prinicples, with quiet competence, they remind me a lot of our founding fathers and their administrations.

So many people are making a huge mistake when they underestimate Bush.

My reason for keeping up the information about Israel is two-fold. First is the fact that what America is going through is just Israel writ large. Pretty much not only the same enemies, but also the same reason for attacking us. Secondly I am particularly sensitive to anti-semitism and when I saw its rise recently I decided that with a little effort the truth can be seen and conservatives can stand by Israel not only as comrads in war but also as philosophical brothers.

Vice-versa I think many of the Jewish Americans are beginning to realize that American Conservatism is not the conservatism of Europe, or elsewhere. We are grounded in the rights of the individual and strongly support the religious principles and rights inherent in our Constitution.

My hope is that with our effort here in America we can empower the forces of capitalism and political conservatism in Israel, because I think this is going to be necessary for Israel's survival. My hope is that we can do it with better understanding between us.
