No War for Oxygen

"Don't rush to war." "Don't act unilaterally." "Don't work outside of the U.N." "No War for Oil." These are the phrases that pour from the mouths of the left with such repetition and regularity, one might wonder if they were on the same timer as a traffic signal. Yet, when President Bush said the U.S. would support another resolution against Iraq -- giving liberals yet another example of what they say they want -- the shouts from the anti-war crowd still rang out with the same regularity and absurdity as before. No war for oil? These anti-war protestors might as well carry signs reading "No War for Oxygen."

The message from these protestors is clear. To not support military action against Saddam Hussein after untold human rights violations and ongoing defiance of the United Nations means that the ultimate meaning of their slogans is "No War at Any Price." So... what do they feel is worth fighting for? Water? Oxygen? Clearly it's not freedom and national security.

To carry on an honest debate over the pros and cons of any military action is part of the American process. It's what makes our country great. People with differing opinions can come together in a forum of intelligent debate and hash out the issues. What's missing from this intelligent debate are the intelligent debaters, and that's what makes the comments of the anti-war activists so frustrating. They are opposed to war at any cost. Yet, rather than simply stating the obvious, they try to argue their position without having any facts to support it.

I really wonder if there is anything that some of those people would fight for.

Quote[/b] ]Come to think of it, let's make Saddam head of the regional Welcome Wagon.

Quote[/b] ] Military action will also liberate the Iraqi people, and the opportunity to spread the seeds of democracy in a region such as the Middle East will add to the long-term stability of the area.

This kind of thinking is way too logical for the "dementia" in our so called "elite". The truth is, they don't give a flying fig about the Iraqi people or how many of them get tortured and killed by Saddam. All they really care about are their own "pretentious" and "plutocratic" self absorbed lifestyles afforded them by an adoring public. If the public ever awakens, they will be reduced to the scrap heap of mediocrity they deserve. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teeth2.gif

Any society that can find nothing worth dying for, has also nothing worth living for.
Deja-Vu Its 1936 all over again.
Strangely, the lowest of our Troops know why they are there and are ready to get the job done. This is the same fact which seems to have escaped all these "Heads" of former world power governments.

God bless America, George Bush and all of our Troops wherever they serve.

I just don't understand how some of these folks can go on TV and spout off comments that have no basis in fact.

They drone on and on about how Bush is just doing this for oil, and yet they have no facts or data to support this claim. They just make it up.

It's so crazy.

Exclent article Bobby! I'm starting to look forward to you commentaries just as much as Ann Coulter's.

It is truly amazing just how little substance these anti-whatevers present in their argument. I often find myself verry frustrated when confronting them. It's like discussing bullet velocity with a 5yr old.

They recently had a "march" here in downtown Anchorage. Can you call 15 people a march? Anaway, they drew a lot of support from the local community. Many of the cars passing bye saluted them with their index fingers. Yet their perservance won out as the daily spew wrote an article on how they were taking a stance against the current administration's policy against Iraq.

Just once I'd like to see the paper print an article that looked something like this...Today, downtown Anchorage was rocked by an anti-war group. The 15 protesters shouted "no war for oil" as they marched down mainstreet. As quickly as it began the march it ended, when two police officers dispersed the crowd back to their smoking VW Vans. The local manager of Denny's, where the protest had started from stated " We here in NO WAY support their ideas". He further added that if anyone saw these individuals, please ask them to return and clean up all of the oil their vans leaked onto the parking lot.

I think I'll hold my breath untill they do!

Hi Spanky! Thanks for the kind words.

Another thing I can't understand is why you never see these people holding up signs saying "Saddam must disarm". They make it look like he's the good guy!

Bobby, you do know the liberals slogan? "Don't bother me with facts". What would they fight for? free drugs or more money - change that to what would they hire somebody else to fight for. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Great article.

It's possible that we might find the reason for this negative approach to Things American in Marxism.

Marx' theory was based on the failure of capitalism. This would cause the poor workers to revolt against their exploiters.

Socialism was inevitable said Marx, because capitalism will always fail.

So if you were liberal and believed in Socialism you could only be negative toward capitalism. After all, it was going to fail eventually right? So "be on the right side of history" and protest capitalism and democracy.

And they do.

Any excuse will serve.

That is why they didn't protest Clinton when he did the same things that Bush is doing now, for he was a "New Socialist". He actively engaged in selling our secrets to the Chinese government (who was paying him handsomely) and underwriting hundreds of leftist causes with federal monies.

When you look at the funding for these marches it always leads back to Marxist organizations. They are so predictable.

Yes, these marches are most often funded by leftists organizations. What really disturbs me, however, are the masses that attend these things.

They don't have any of the facts and yet they will scream their views at the top of their lungs without anything to back it up. It's just amazing that people would be so vocal when they don't know what they're talking about.

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Well we had a big demonstration in downtown Olympia , Washington yesterday. I wish I had known about it as I think it would have been fun to watch. There were 4 men who parked their cars in the middle of a new bridge under construction and commenced to hammer them with sledge hammers to protest the war. The protest lasted a whole 13 minutes before they were hauled off to jail. Knowing the way things are done around here they will be slapped on the hand and told not to do this again. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they are part of the group from "The Evergreen State College" (AKA " The Everleft State College"). If you remember they were the bunch that got thrown out of Mexico for joining in a demonstration against the Mexican government. Thrown out of Mexico?http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
