Bin Laden Threat Points to Imminent Attack, Analyst Says

An audio statement by Osama bin Laden broadcast on al-Jazeera television Thursday appears to be related to recent threats made by an al Qaeda front in Europe and points to an imminent attack, according to a Washington-based analyst.

Christopher L. Brown of the Hudson Institute earlier this month analyzed the Jan. 6 videotaped message of Ayman al-Zawahiri, bin Laden's chief deputy. The tape, Brown said, and other al Qaeda communications indicated a high probability that al Qaeda would launch a major terrorist attack in the next 30 days and that the United States was the likeliest target.

Possibly, and it canno't be discounted.

More likely, though, it was intended primarily to remind us, and the other terrorist leaders, that he is still around and thinks he is in charge. The secondary objective would be to eventually wear us down and cause us to become less watchful, so that he can more easily pull something off.

very possible, bigdog, but I tend to think most of the stuff he wants to hit us with is already here. with the break up of russia all kinds of things were on the black market and readily available.

the trouble was getting the stuff here and across the border, but since some of the stuff weighs less than 100# when broken to manageable portions that really wouldn't be a problem. the problem would be in getting enough for a strike in more than one place and that is what he would be after.

if the article I posted in war on terror is even half way correct it scares the bejeebers out of me and is something that I have been saying all along. the borders needed to be slammed shut as of 9/11.

the problem I have with all of this is that the tape was supposedly made in nov/dec was sent to al jazeera then and is just now being let out?? why so long between making and releasing??

something sounds a bit screwy to me but given the problem of logistics there and being hounded might accidently have something to do with that. however, as pointed out, he might be ready for another strike in some manner. one article stated that he might have something in place and the release of this would signal in about a month or so.

who knows??
