Just days after Hollywood released a horror film entitled "Ghost Ship" in late October, a stranger-than-fiction mystery began that is now haunting authorities Down Under: the discovery of a real-life ghost ship.

The 65-foot vessel was found adrift off Western Australia Jan. 4 with tons of rotting fish aboard, but without a single crewmember anywhere to be found.

The Australian navy boarded the Taiwanese-registered High Aim 6 last week to find the boat in good sailing condition, with up to three tons of mackerel and tuna in the hold, not to mention personal items such as seven toothbrushes.

The two Taiwanese crewmen called their families every day," Lee told AP. "The last time they called was on Dec. 6." (http://www.worldnetdaily.co m/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ ID=30506)

A possibility:

The Al Queda strike at Bali was directed at Australians. *Evidently Australia is on AQ's list. *Oz has also been having trouble with islamics in country.

My hypothesis is that the captain and chief engineer were killed and the remaining crew (all Indonesians and possibly islamics) used the life rafts to land undetected in Australia.

Yeah, I know! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tinfoil.gif

Maybe they were smuggling something valuable, like drugs, and there was an internal dispute.

Maybe we should all get together and write a book. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

pirates probably boarded the boat and killed them either that, or they were some sort of intelligence officers for the taiwanese and the chinese cleaned house.

The bio-haz material manifests itself by causing the socialist scales to fall from the eyes of the people. When they can again see, they realize the error of their ways and discover that they are practicing conservatives, thereby saving the whole continent.

They all go back to work rejoicing and singing, "Waltzing Matilda".

Wow, what a crew! What an imagination!

I kind of like the space-alien angle myself, although Charie's is tempting...

Navyblue may have this right.

His theory that the crew harmed the Captain and Engineer and headed for the shores of Australia sounds very plausible, depending just where the ship was off shore.
