Yes, very strange. In fact, the DOW was acting rather strange yesterday too. Good morning everyone. As I was pulling into the drive this morning at about 4:00 I saw that the light over the garage was out. I just replaced the one by the door. As I came in and turned on the light in our bedroom the bulb just quit seconds after coming on.
Weird.

I outlined what we will need to accomplish next year several threads back. *I believe as long as we work together as a party and continue to write, e-mail and phone our members of Congress, President Bush and his administration we should do alright. *

We need to keep one group in mind and that is our troops who are fighting in Iraq, Afghanstan and other places. *In fact, we need to work with our local supervisor of elections to be sure their absentee ballots reach to them on time and they are sent back on time.

Saddam Insane is making demands on the Iraqi court and got himself yet another delay. One has to wonder if he knows his life is at stake ot that him simply believes he is above it all. The amateur shrinks should have a great time sorting out Saddam's psyche!

All weekend there were reports of blockbuster sales, the the Monday morning paper has this "mediocre" report. It was like someone said "hey, we gotta throw some water on this good news".
Not unexpected, considering the source.

On a related note, this mornings paper carried a fairly long - nearly half a page - story about a marines in Iraq, detailing the good parts of their experience there and expressing their concern for the negative reporting. It didn't carry any MSM tagline, of course. It was by a Christian Science Monitor reporter.

When I served Jury Duty at Suffolk County Courthouse in Boston, I had to climb four flights of stairs SEVERAL times because the elevator was not working. I was crammed together with 17 other jurors in a creaky old building where court records were stored in the stairwells and there were RATS! I have NO sympathy for the Butcher of Baghdad!

BTW, I was not a prisoner. I was a JUROR!

Nancy Pelosi indicts all Republicans for the actions of a few but doesn’t seem to link criminal acts by the last dem president to her party or treasonous acts by many dems to the rest of the dem party.

I went to the doctor yesterday and we learned that the stone is still there. It is causing me a little discomfort because it is partially blocking my right ureter but it is very close to the end. This doctor gave me some medication that will help the stone pass rather than blasting it as a first resort. But both kidneys are working fine so that is good to know.

I was not going to continue my statements on Iraq. but Revalamb has piqued my veracity. I am an army vet of WWII. RA33979981 and I know quite a bit about serving in a wartorn country. I served in Berlin, Germany at the time of the Berlin Blockade and the Berlin Airlift...I know full well how it is to live without even one store open....and because he is a man of God...I also am a Presbyterian Elder for almost 40 years. I was not running down our troops, nor am I taking the DemocRAT line...I was merely saying with the Curds keeping their area comparitively safe, and the Shiites doing pretty near the same in the south, and with some 100,000 trained Iraqi troops, how come they are not spearheading the offensives at this time rather than the American men.
I know how long it takes to train a man and these guys should be handling more of the load...They know more of which arab is which than our men. If anyone thinks that using a rifle against a rifle over there is going to end this conflagration then I have to say they are insane. Israel has been using the tit for tat method for over 60 years and it just doesn't work!

I am sorry that I feel our men are being unduly sacrificed....This will be my last statement...I will say no more!

I don't know anything about training an army, but it seems that when we have young American men and women, who love their country and have a real conviction about what they're fighting for...well, it just seems they would be easier to train than say people who have lived in fear most of their lives.

Lack of education and the fact that they consider their leaders almost god-like only add to the confusion and slow down the training process. That and the fact that there is a war raging very near to where they train, no doubt. Must be mind boggling over there.

It all makes me even more thankful that I'm an American.

Just think what the +6 degree temps would do to those 80 and 90 degree ones that you get down there in summertime. Will be glad to trade the +6 temps for some the higher ones. Maybe we can mix those all together and come out at a happy medium that we could live with.

Stan, I think that one of the biggest problems with the Iraqis taking on more responsibility is that they don’t have experienced leadership. It is easy to train the grunts but it takes experience to make a good leader. Our leaders can’t lead the Iraqi troops so we have to be patient as the Iraqi leaders get the experience they need.

I too don’t like the sacrifice of our troops for the freedom of Arabs but two things make it worth the blood of our young people. Both are important to our freedom. ParakeeT, is your nephew's wife the one who's having a baby? If so, that would make you the baby's Grand Aunt. Great Grand Aunt would be the next generation step. (Sorry, but with my large family, I had to get it right.) It works this way: You are your nephew's Aunt...so you would be Grand Aunt to his child. Your parents are correct however, since they are the "first generation" grandparents to their son's child (your nephew).

I just had an extreme pleasure of watching a Gilbert & Sullivan opera (The Sorcerer) of which I knew NOTHING about, nor ANY of the music. Now remember, I know 7 of them BY HEART and have recorded three of them , all the oparts, so this was a real experience for me. It was extremely cool. And quite naughty for 1870. I was really surprised at how racy those Victorians could be without actually DOING anything!
