Welcome to the Sunday Precinct thread!
I hope you're all having a great weekend and that after Sunday morning worship services, or however you choose to spend your morning, that you will be relaxing while watching http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/football.gif That's what we will be doing.
What a week we had! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif
One would hope all the air has been let out of the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif liberal's hot air balloon by the defeat of the shameful Murtha resolution, but I'm sure they have spent the weekend concocting a new line of attack.
I was reminded last night that John Murtha lobbied actively for Howard Dean to be chairman of the DNC. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif
I know we've posted this for two days but it's really the quote of the week for me. From Ohio Rep. Jean Schmidt who said on the floor of the House, "Cowards cut and run, and Marines never do." Take that Murtha! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif
Howard Ford wanted to slug Tom Tancredo during the Friday night debate and had to be physically restrained. Too, too bad. My money was on Tancredo for the knockout punch. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smash.gif
"When was the last time you heard the word 'coward' used on the floor," Mr. Snyder said. Well, Mr. Snyder, whoever you are, it should be used a lot more often as traitors are called out publicly, but Ms. Schmidt was the only one on Friday night who was equipped with enough of the proper anatomy to use it. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notworthy.gif
The average gas price nationally is $2.25 a gallon. Ours is $2.24. Who are the lucky folks that are paying less? Inquiring minds want to know. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
There's a group in San Francisco, where else, called the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif
Ok, enough of that. I think it's pRIM's turn for our http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif Touch of Trivia. If I'm right she will be getting up very soon to bring them to you. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lol.gif On the other hand, I'm going to bed. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif
http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif You pick 'em: http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif "It wasn't all that long ago that people were not allowed to worship openly in this society. My hope is that the government of China will not fear Christians who gather to worship openly. A healthy society is a society that welcomes all faiths." ~ President George W. Bush in China http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif
"It was a classic case of "put up or shut up." The Dems shut up." ~ Bob Newman http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notworthy.gif
"What we need is a little more commander-in-chief, and a little less campaigner-in-chief," ~ John Kerry, proving he never knows when to shutup. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif
"All of Iraq must know Iraq is free -- free from United States occupation." ~ John Murtha, un-American http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/str.gif
"I know what it does for morale, I know what it does for our mission, and so help me God I will never let our nation make that mistake again." ~ Sam Johnson, (R-TX) http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bowlow.gif
God Bless our great country. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif May Freedom ever ring!

I am afraid not, Terri. They are currently schemeing to do something really underhanded. They have been shamed (if there is something like that in the Dems’ morale character) and they are not going to take it lightly. I would not be too surprise to see the liberals, like Oliver Willis and ilk like, him fall on the floor kicking and screaming in circles for the next few weeks.

Charie, if you want to send John Murtha an email, the zip 15901-7447 in Johnstown, PA gets you into the web form. Just thought you might like to know.
I sent an email to the honorable representative Jean Schmidt. I thought she might like to know that there are people out here who appreciate her and that she was willing to read the statement made by a marine.
Bob Beckel ( http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif strategist) said it was unthinkable that this freshman congress WOMAN (said with distain) would call an honorable man like Murtha a coward. Beckel went on to explain that Schmidt's biggest concern is to find a parking place at her country club. I love how the Democrats keep their comments totally respectable, so it makes their criticisms of Republicans so much more meaningful. That was sarcasm!
Besides, she was reading a statement. She was reading a statement. She was reading a statement. And that statement was made by a MARINE! And, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif , if we leave Iraq, it will be the Marines who look like they have cut and run!
My last fill-up, I paid $1.97 for gas. That was Tuesday. I haven't paid much attention since. I know that one day since then, I saw it for $2.01. Sunday is normally the cheapest day here in Indiana, so I'll take a look later today.
BTW, I read somewhere that John Kerry said he would not allow Murtha to be Swift-Boated. First, I wanted to know what Kerry plans to do to defend Murtha --- shoot Schmidt? Then, it made me think that Kerry had in fact just insulted Murtha. The Swift-Boat Vets revealed the truth about Kerry and his cowardice, so (in my mind) being Swift-Boated means having the truth of your cowardice revealed. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
I'd never want Kerry to defend me. If I were Murtha, I'd put duct tape over Kerry's mouth. But then again, if I were Murtha, I'd put duct tape over my own mouth. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

I just saw this on Fox News. *Rep. Marion Berry (D-AR) called Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL) a "howdy doody looking nimrod." *If you've ever seen Rep. Putnam, he has red hair and is young-looking. *If anybody can find Putnam's response, post it. *It was good.
It's just proof that Democrats DO call people names. *They do it all the time. *Their indignation over Schmidt is just so much smoke. *Besides, she was quoting someone else.
BTW, the Democrat cuss forum has posted Rep. Schmidt's contact information and are asking everyone to write her and complain about her calling Murtha a coward (never mind that that is not what happened). *I think we all need to flood Berry's mailbox! *What do you think?
P.S. I didn't know what a nimrod is. Biblically, it means mighty hunter.
Maybe somebody else can explain why this is an insult.

Will do trivia first before I lose my post somewhere in the vast cyber space.
What do you have planned for Thanksgiving? Staying home or visiting relatives/friends?
We have been invited to my Daughter in Law's Brother's Farm up in the country about 50 miles from here. It is a large family get together and it is so very nice of them to include us in their family group.
Do you do "formal" or "casual" for Thanksgiving dinner?
It's fairly casual. The kids go horseback riding. We gather pecans. Some go fishing in the ponds. They drive golf carts all over the place, and everyone has a great time.
Who proclaimed the first National Thanksgiving Day? (Hint - the year was 1863)
Abraham Lincoln.
What is your favorite snack while watching ?
Mixed nuts, peanutbutter crackers, beer, maybe some wine and cheese.
Do you do the "shopping bit" the day after Thanksgiving?
No way Jose'.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day dessert?
I think it has to be pecan pie for Thanksgiving; my favorite pie is lemon meringue though.
What is the highest military award bestowed by the United States? (Submitted by TGImRepublican)
I always thought I knew this, but this morning I am not so sure. I think it is The Congressional Medal of Honor. Maybe I ought to call Col. Bud Day, he wears one and I can see it my mind's eye. He lives right here in town. I drive by his office almost every day.
What is your favorite "Forefather" quote?
Oh how about some old standards.
"Give me liberty or give me death" from Patrick Henry. "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes". "I have not yet begun to fight". I like things written by Benjamin Franklin, but can I think of one right now?
Were you named after anyone in your family? If so, who?
Nope, just for me.
http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hat.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hat.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hat.gif
I think Rep. Jean Schmidt showed backbone and bravery to deliver her message. I was disappointed when she asked that her statement be stricken from the record, however. I have noticed that I have seen her statement probably 20 times yesterday, but her retraction only twice. And, have noticed that they talk about her original statement and never mention the striken statement. That is our biased MSM for you , and that includes the supposedly "fair and balanced" FOX News Channel.
Another thing I never heard was that Rep. Murtha's plan was to take place over 6 months. Either the media didn't record that part of his plan or he never said it, maybe it was implied? Does anyone know if that is what he said or not and I just didn't hear it? I thought what he said was "as soon as practicable".
I think Rep. Murtha should have known how his statement would have been accepted. I know I am not the only one who saw it as "cutting and running". I see his timing as totally wrong as well, with the President out of the country on a diplomatic tour of the Far East. This was not a good time for him to be spouting off.
http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/HB.gif Mudbug, mrsmal,Smudge , and Shooterman. May you all have many more.
Oh, I did get my perm yesterday, and as usual I am not happy with it. I said I wanted it short, not scalped. However, she was a great operator, and fortunately, my hair will grow back. It does look nice, just too darned short. My problem is most won't let me wear my glasses while they work so I can't really see what they are doing. I would be legally blind without them. I still feel like a new woman (quoting Mary Lou).
I finally got all my slides edited and ready for printing of pictures. I pick up the last three sets today from Walmart. Now I just have another 360 slides to get put onto CD's, but not printed. They are landscapes, or have people in them who I don't even know, so they will not be getting printed. If I had let them do the editing it would have cost me about $425.00. By doing it myself,(a litttle at a time) it ran just under $140.00 and I got three sets of pictures. My children are delighted to have all these pictures plus their own CD's since their Dad passed away when they were just five and six years old. They remember some of the things in the pictures.
Have a wonderful Sunday, I will probably BBL.

More casualties from Hurricane Wilma. When my Electricity came back on, the VCR and the Microwave oven went haywire. Oh well, VCR's are obsolete anyway and I recently gave away all my tapes to the VA Hospital, so OUT went the VCR into the trash bin. The City of Margate has not yet reinstated "Bulk Pickup" after the Hurricane (which is weird...when would one need "Bulk Pickup" MORE than after your home being trashed by a natural disaster...but I digress). Mike and I went down to Home Depot to get a new microwave oven, and THIS time I wanted one that installs over the stove, as I have less counter space in my kitchen than the average RV. The guy in the store was very helpful. He said, "It's EASY! Just rip out the range hood and hot wire the Microwave oven to the wire that is sticking out of the wall. ANYONE can do it!" OK. So Mike and i schlepped the oven home in the Beloved Camero and proceded to rip out the range hood. Althought the Home Depot Guy had not, in his wisdom, suggested that we turn off the power to the house before doing this rather delicate operation, Mike felt it would be prudent to do so. We turned on SIRIUS ROLLING STONES RADIO full blast and I ventured out to the Electrical box and switched off all the circuit breakers that said things like "kitchen", "range","refridgerator", "washer", "dryer", etc, so we could still enjoy our nice music and air conditioning as we did our work together. Little did we know that the range hood was hot wired to a circuit marked "living room". I kid you not.
Right in the middle of "This Could Be The Last Time", There was a huge spark and Mike got thrown against the counter across the room. The wires were LIVE! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yikes.gif (There is also a Stones song called "Sparks Will Fly", but that would have been just TOO weird and you wouldn't have believed me!) I have gotten those kind of shocks doing wallpapering so I know how much they hurt! In fact, isn't that what they use to torture spies with? Anyway, I am sure the lights in the entire neighborhood dimmed on that one and people thought we were ready for another two weeks of cold chefboyadee from a can. At this point, Mike refuses to "hotwire" the Microwave. We are having Carl the Handiman come to the house in a few minutes. Let Mike install the software, let Carl install the Microwave. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yikes.gif
Murtha was the star of Al Jazeera the other day. He was the lead story. What does that tell you. The guy should be brought up on charges of treason. I don't care if he is a decorated veteran. If a decorated firefighter suddenly turns into an arsonist, does that make it OK?

Thanksgiving Day Mom and I will be at her place preparing a turkey to be cooked Friday morning. Then Friday about noon, we will go to my niece's house for Thanksgiving. We do it the day after so that those who are married can spend Thanksgiving with the spouse's family.

casual

I usually don't have a snack while I watch http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/football.gif , but the one snack I eat most often is guacamole Nachos, so if I were going to eat a snack, that would be it.

I did until my niece moved back to Indiana in 2003. Now that I spend Friday finishing the turkey and going to her place for Thanksgiving dinner, I just don't have time. I did make it to one doorbuster in 2003, but that was the last time. I really kinda miss it, but I don't miss the pain from standing in line for what seems like forever.

I like almost all of them, but I especially like the one in my signature. And ... "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other." - John Quincy Adams
Not a forefather, but a GREAT quote ... "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage." Alexander Tyler (When the thirteen colonies were still a part of England, Professor Alexander Tyler wrote about the fall of the Athenian republic over two thousand years previous to that time)

Lemme get the trivia while I'm here:
1. Going to the in-laws', possibly in time to catch a Wednesday night service at their church; being awakened much too early by my wife Thursday morning; watching the parade; eating either chicken enchiladas or turkey, depending on everyone's mood. I'm hoping for the enchiladas.
2. Casual whenever possible
3. already answered (but I knew it anyway http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )
4. Whatever is handy. I don't get the chance to watch sports as often as I'd like, so I don't want to spoil it by spending a lot of time in preparation.
5. Try not to. This year, I may be working Friday morning, so definitely not.
6. PUMPKIN PIE! (insert gluttony smiley)
7. CMoH
8. James Madison: "If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place, oblige it to control itself."
9. I was named after my dad's dad and a family friend.

Trivia! I love Trivia.....
What do you have planned for Thanksgiving? Staying home or visiting relatives/friends?
Home, Immediate family, Still hoping Frou and Rocky can attend.
Rocky is having a strugle right now, so please keep them in your prayers.
Do you do "formal" or "casual" for Thanksgiving dinner?
Casual, but Nice. I cook out, so I do wear Jeans, boots, the regular. But I change into a nice shirt for dinner.
Who proclaimed the first National Thanksgiving Day? (Hint - the year was 1863)
I was reading about this the other evening, Some say it was on December 4, 1619 when 38 colonists from Berkeley Parish in England disembarked in Virginia and gave thanks to God. Prior to this, there was also a Thanksgiving feast celebrated by Francisco Vásquez de Coronado (along with friendly Teya Indians) on 23 May 1541 in Texas' Palo Duro Canyon, to celebrate his expedition's discovery of food supplies. Some hold this to be the true first Thanksgiving in North America.
But in 1863 it was proclaimed a "National" day by good Ole Hunest Abe! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
What is your favorite snack while watching football?
Misty deep fries cubed steak, and mozzerella sticks. Thats my favorite snack no matter what I'm doing!
Do you do the "shopping bit" the day after Thanksgiving?
Nope.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day dessert?
Punkin Pie!!! (can't wait!, cant wait!)
What is the highest military award bestowed by the United States? (Submitted by TGImRepublican)

pRIM, the man who made the mean Howdy Doody comment is a white man from Arkansas named Marion Berry. The man who was arrested when he was mayor of DC is a black man named Marion Barry. Both of them are scum!
Katy, I'll do my best on those recipes. My sister has been totally swamped so getting her to give me a recipe might not be doable (is that a word?) But Mom's is in a recipe book at her house, so I can just look it up. The filling is made in an iron skillet. It does not include a crust recipe, but those pre-made ones work fine. I'll try to get it and post it sometime tomorrow.
Regarding Schmidt having her words stricken, I'm torn both ways. She was immediately disciplined for insulting the coward Murtha. That discipline was recorded. So I'm wondering if she had the words stricken to take the discipline off the record as well. She also said in her request that her words were totally misunderstood and were not meant to call Murtha a coward.
I agree with that, because what was meant was making the marines cut and run would make them look like cowards. I'm thinking she had the whole thing pretty much planned and simply wanted the sound bite to be replayed over and over. If that's the case, she got done what was necessary.
BTW, those Bengals are playing some serious http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/football.gif ! However this game goes, I love both teams!
M-L, I'm glad to hear that Gamma is diminishing. I just heard last night/this morning on Fox that it would hit southern Florida at hurricane strength.

OW, I don't know the proper terminology, but some pop-ups are a one-time thing embedded in the site, while other reoccurring pop-ups are embedded in your system. You need to run a good spyware program and it should eliminate those pop-ups. I recommend Microsoft Spyware, but I can't remember the official name. It's free. I'll go search for a link.
I don't have it on my laptop. Now is probably a good time to install it.

TO WIT:
This morning I woke early and planned on going to early service (8:30).
The only problem was that I couldn't see out of my left eye, everything was foggy like looking threw a frosted window. My daughter called and after I told her about it, she said 'Dad git your butt to the Urgent Care at the Clinic. I found out years ago, don't argue with your daughter, so I went.
This very charming young female Doctor check my eye and sent me to another Eye Clinic for a specilist to look at my eye.
After doping my eyes, shining very bright lights in my eye, she (another very charming Doctor) gave me the facts.
I have what is called "Branch Retinalm Artery Occlusion". In laymans terms, a blood clot broke loose some place in my body, possibley in my neck, and blocked an artery that leads into the eye.
Now one would think that this is no big deal, but she said that it may clear up by its self but then don't bet on it.
There is nothing to be done or can be done and I will in time, loose my vision on that eye. So now all I have to do is git used to looking throgh frosted glass or keep my left eye shut.
I keep thinking, 'what have I done to deserve all this' what ever it was, I ask God to Forgive Me.
Well,
So Good Night My Friends it is now 8:55 PM cst

If a team's record is any indication of how good or bad they are, then Cincinnati just played the best team in the NFL. And put on a very good show.
I'm glad the Colts won. But I'm also glad that Cincinnati gave them a great game and some really scarey moments. I really would not have been too disapppointed had Cincinnati won.

I watched the Little Ice Age show to the very end, and sure enough, at the very end of the show, they blamed the WHOLE thing on GLOBAL WARMING. They didn't quite mention President bush's name but I'll bet you dimes to donuts they were THINKING it!
Here's how they did it:
They said the Dark Ages were nice and warm. This caused a disruption in the ocean currents which brought on the little ice age which lasted 500 years. A huge volcanic eruption in Indonesia added to the problem and caused a year with no summer at all. Then, Voila! Along came the Industrial Revolution with all its greenhouse gases and saved the planet by warming t up a bit. But now it's getting too warm and the ice caps are going to melt, adding too much fresh water to the ocean and thus re-disrupting the currents just like they did at the end of the Dark Ages and plunge us into another Ice Age only this one will be as bad as the BIG ice age 15,000 years ago. My question is, what caused the greeanhouse gases that caused the global warming that brought on that BIG Ice Age? Dinosaur Farts?
And with that, Good Night.

The Commodore & his Lady unto the Forum: greetings.
Re the Bengals -- they did not bungle. It could have gone either way. So the Bengal Management will be going to the draft and getting more quality players (perhaps from the smaller colleges, like unto Ken Anderson, perhaps the best of the Bengal QBs, Palmer included). Still, staying out of the NFL Cellar is a good thing.
Re Bud's illness: the Commodore & his Lady join the prayer chain on his behalf. Although Our Lord will have the last word, it is still AMEN.
Personal to Bud: "God is just a prayer away."
Prayers are likewise in order for the Congress. As we know all too well, last Friday was the worst on Capitol Hill since the 29th & 30th Congresses, before the Civil War. During this period, Senator Sumner (or was it Stevens) was caned in the Senate Chamber by Representative Preston Brooks of SC. Until the Southern Congressmen (less Andrew Johnson of TN) left Capitol Hill in the aftermath of the 1860 Election & the Southern Secession, Congressmen & Senators carried concealed weaponry on their persons to prevent another caning.
When Rep Ford crossed the aisle gunning for Rep Tancredo (the odds favored Tancredo), what would have happened if Tancredo had used a Tazer or similar devices, or a handgun? The Commodore has a one word answer: CHAOS on the House Floor, as Democrats begin rioting, live on C-SPAN. And George Bush would have been blamed for the situation.
Unto Mary-Lou: climactic change is beyond political faults. The "Little Ice Age" and the "Mediaeval Climactic Optimum" are actual events in our recorded history. And both events are influenced by solar activities. In effect, Seward's famous phrase, "There is an higher law than the Constitution," is proven correct yet again, to the chagrin of the Democrat Party and their allies in the major media. The Commodore recommends The REAL Future: Tomorrow's Technology Today by T. A. Heppenheimer, written in 1983. Probably, it is in used bookstores because it is long out of print. Although Heppenheimer agrees with the possibility of global warming, he is more cautious on the issue. His comparison is Prince Henry of Navarre. In 1593 he renounced his Huguenot faith in favor of the Roman rites as the price he would have to pay for acceptance as the King of France. He said at the time, "Paris is well worth a Mass." In effect, our lowlands will have to be the price we may have to pay for avoiding an Ice Age. Heppenheimer paraphrases Prometheus Unbound by saying, "I shall give you fire, and with this gift you shall build civilizations and nations untold. And you will lift the curse of your ancestors, for you shall prevent the return of that Ice Age which was their tyranny. But you in return must suffer the seas to rise, and in time to drown the cities you will build upon the shores."
Sadly, Mary-Lou, politicians do not look beyond the next election. And that is true in any popular system. A dictator is always worried about someone in his party taking him out violently and becoming dictator over the previous dictator's dead body. Popular systems base power upon elections. But in either case, the spectre still remains. Only God is infallible.
And now for Taps.
