http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif Welcome to http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif

Welcome to all our visitors who are looking in today. We hope you'll register and come talk to us about election issues in your area. We'd love to hear what you have to say. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

There's lots of election news today. I'll hit the high spots and maybe everyone can report on important races in their area. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

In probably the best news for conservatives, Proposition 2, a constitutional amendment which preserves marriage as between a man and a woman, was passed overwhelmingly by Texas voters. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Virginia chose Democrat Kaine over Republican Jerry Kilgore for their governor. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the local issues can weigh in on this.

And in scandal ridden New Jersey it's little wonder that they opted to continue tradition by voting for the most scandalous of the two candidates and electing the proven payoff king former US Sen. Jon Corzine. I guess they like it that way back there. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

A well known conservative blog is reporting that Rep. Curt Weldon will be holding a news conference tomorrow to report new developments in Able Danger. Word is that more documents may surface. Sounds interesting. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif

Looks like the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif effort from Reform Ohio Now, to pass measures that would change the way that Ohio votes have been defeated.

Alabama Governor Bob Riley has called for an economic boycott on the island of Aruba in connection with the death of Natalie Holloway. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Hopefully someone will post a report on the California results. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Oh BTW, France is still on http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif You pick 'em: http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif "We simply can't go on as we are. Hey, you'll have to excuse my ignorance if this is old news (I've sorta been inundated with my own realities lately), but somebody just told me that Denver Colorado has become the first city to officially legalize marihuana. *Is that true, or is it some rendition of the truth? *Terri? *Party at your place?

One week we don't do enough to get along with Muslims, then the next we're supposed to be "the stewards of creation." Somehow I thought what we are doing in Iraq is being "stewards of creation." We're doing more for Muslims than the the majority of the rest of the planet! Of course, I may totally have misconstrued what the idgit prince meant!

I'm glad their royalty doesn't have anything to do with the governing of Britain. Thank God for Tony Blair!

Good Morning,

Just a short post before I go back and try to find my pillow.

I finally got my tickets to "Meshuggah Nuns"; we will be going on Thursday evening. They totally sold out last weekend. Fortunately our local group (Stagecrafters) does some excellent performing. (My Daughter was in their performance of "Fidler On The Roof" many years ago)

pRIM, I am so happy Andy's surgery went well. I remember when you had to stay in the hospital for at least 5-7 days after hernia surgery. But, also back then they kept you 5 days after having a baby too.

Stormy, so sorry to hear about your BIL. It is hard to lose a family member even if they technically aren't a member anymore. I have a similar situation in my family, so I understand exactly how you feel.

Flower, I would love to be able to come to your open house. The store where I bought the tickets for the play is having one right now. I never knew the shop was there and what wonderful things they had. I am going back to do some Xmas shopping.

Oh, and Termind, I couldn't resist and had one of your wonderful donuts as a late night snack! I have to eat something before I take my meds. Isn't that a wonderful reason to have a donut.

Off to find my pillow. BBL.

Hey all you lovely precintians,

I wish the news were better from CA. and NJ and VA.
What frightens me is not so much the 'vote' (people can vote mistakenly at times) but the abject failure to recognize WRONG.
Or perhaps not to CARE.
Which would be worse???
Not to recognize 'wrong' portends a lot of future votes to come.

Aruba? Good for the AL. Gov.
I know none of us big money people will go down there.
(Did I really just say that?http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?)

We will just regroup and have a happy day anyway.
God is still on the throne and only He knows the whys, wherefores, purposes, and ultimate outcomes.
God bless all my friends in the precinct.

PRIm and Andy...best wishes and prayers go to you.

Speaking of crooks. The Dems think they're making a come back with these victories, and they'll try to make a big deal out of it. But it isn't a loss for us if you consider the previous Governorships. Our main focus is to keep our majority in both houses of congress and don't get discouraged no matter what the media and has been "political experts" have to say about the GOP negatives that took place yesterday! We can use this as a reason to motivate our side as we head into next years elections, if anything.

Danny, you took the words out of my mouth. *Yesterday's election results should be a focus point in next year`s elections. *We should ignore the media and start rolling up our sleeves and start to work right now.

Starting in January, I will volunteer at Republican headquarters. *I will be focus on four to six key elections.

1. Make sure we retain both our houses of Congress.

2. We keep a Republican governor here in the State of Florida.

3. Work on this marriage amendment which will be decided by voters here in this state.

4. Elect Katherine Harris as Senator.

5. Help elect Rory to the State Legislature.

6. Their is going to be judges here in the State of Florida. *We will need to study each judge and vote out who don't vote according to the Constitution.

"God is still on the throne". . . . that is a "blessed assurance" isn't it?

Thanks Anita for the great perspective!

On to local news (my news at least)!

I've spent the past six weeks helping a friend defeat a recall effort against her and. . . . . . .

SHE WON!!!!!

This was a very nasty effort. . . . and pretty discouraging at times. *Our county Campaign Chair designed a specific plan, with goals for each day leading up to Election Day. *Very labor intensive, and it worked! *A triumph for "voter vault technology".

We still have no television and I was at the "victory" party until late last night. *Is France still burning? *Hmmmmmm. . . . curfews (too little, too late). *Wonder what Chirac will do next?

Last night I heard on the news that Kwame Kilpatrick, mayor of Detroit, was defeated. *It was also on the front pages of several morning papers. *But, I turned on the radio here in the office and they said Kilpatrick won?

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif * Wonder what that's all about!

PRIM - Glad to hear Andy came through his little experience without any excitement. *Excitement is never good when you're talking surgery! *

Flower - Open House? *How far are you from me? *Who knows ~ I could surprise you and drop in on your doorstep!

Time to work!

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif Good morning http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif ns! A blustery day here in east central Wisconsin. Our power went off for a few seconds, just long enough for the computer to shut down just as I reached http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif

Shopped with my daughter yesterday 'til I darned near dropped. She had to have a medical procedure done at 6:00 in the morning so I took her to the hospital and then we picked up most of the stuff she still needed for the wedding. WHERE IN THE WORLD DID ALL THE GOLD SHOES GO? We must've gone to 8 places to find them and then had to go back to the first one where they were holding the only pair of gold shoes that even looked presentable and which would have been about choice #6 on a list of 10. Didn't get home until about 6:00 last night. I slept well for about 5 hours and then could sleep no longer (too wound up) so here I am, all breakfasted, coffeed, (thanks flower) and ready to go back to bed. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif

pRIM, I'm so happy Andy came through the surgery well. Blessings all over the place.

GR, I had a cousin who passed over 200 of those darling little KSes. At his 100th one he had a "coming out" party and after that he just said, "To he]] with it!" I pray you never go through that! BTW, how is the prototype?

While I was out killing myself yesterday a Boy Scout troop leader from Green Bay called and wants to donate some popcorn that was left over from their scout popcorn sale. Caramel and peanut and some microwave popcorn in decorative tins which will be useful to store things in. I understand sand gets into everything in Kuwait. I'm not sure how he heard about our effort. Maybe from a blog. We were posted on a couple of them.

Have to get the registrations sent out today for Colin's quartet. They'll be competing at the International Prelims in May and they want decent reserved seats this time so I said I'd take care of it. The particulars are all typed up and printed out so it just has to be mailed. My timing is a bit off with the troop collection and wedding all at the same time, but at least I got a confirmation of 5 rooms reserved at a Select Inn at $35 per room. Definitely no frills but it's across the street from convention HQ and nothing is close to the performance center so that's no problem. They were going to charge us $53 plus tax per room because the clerk I talked to knew nothing about the convention. But the confirmation at $35 plus tax came while I was gone today, also. And that's a good thing.

Cleosmom, good for you. I'm happy to hear your chair is so active in getting out the vote. And thank you for being such a help. I'm sure you worked your buns off.

At first I was a tad upset about the NJ and VA races but considering the sources, it wasn't going to be different. Entrenched corruption like that in NJ and entrenched liberals in VA is mighty hard to overturn. Perhaps they need Cleosm 's party chair to take them all in hand.

The big thing is that the Dems are going to be shrieking to high heaven that the Republicans are going to take a shellacking all over the place because they two states went Dem. Wonder if they're looking at the prop. in Texas re the marriage act?

I really have to get going.

Hope you all have a good day.

Good Morning all.

Looks like we will have to deal with some Dim chest thumpng since they won in Virginia. A win in NJ is really meaningless for them.

Should not be too long before Corzine truns NJ into a French nanny state. NJ taxpayers beware, there will be nowhere for your taxes to go but up.

The Dim strategy of creating a dependent constituency then keeping it that way seems to be an art form in Jersey.

On to happier things...

Good Morning Sunshines from Under the Front, in MO.......temps are going to dive into the 30s by tomorrow am.

I waited up for election results......I still don't know what went down or up in my County.........and I know each Candidate for Representative...... ....

SW MO gave a Republican State Senator the job..........just dunking the Dem, who was a typical Dem, down in the mouth, and whining........the young Republican just wiped the floor with the old wet rag.

I havent been here since I last posted......if I should be responding to a comment...Im sorry...I havent read them..............

Don't you just love Michelle Malkin's outting of the lying pschycoid? *whatever.......

I tell ya about California.....I spent the last 8 weeks before the election there, watching local TV listening to people in all walks of life...........spent 19 days either in a Hospital or Nursing/rehab visiting with the help and visitors..........th ose people are not smart, they are not in tune with anything, and they believe anything anyone tells them.
The Minority Citizen, is really the Majority Citizen, who speaks very broken English...........
For Example.........a Philappino Nurse and an Indian (India) Aide............they hate America, they hate Bush, they think they are being pushed down..........yet they are the majority....they came here for safety, money, and education........... ..but, they hate the Gov't.

They are not the immigrants like our Grandparents........ or Great Grands, who were so eager to come here and share the dream, and learn to speak English, and BE AMERICAN.

This new wave of immigrant's, ''self centered'' and ''money hungry'' and ''going to take over'' attitude, is going to come up and bite some of us right in the butt..........before we know what has hit us.

Our Nation was founded on Immigration......... .but, the ''motives'' of the Immigrant has changed.

I realize the California Gov is an immigrant.......and I heard him and I saw him........he is a very confusing individual.........y et so uncomplicated the younger generation, cannot disseminate his simple message of protecting our children and keeping the radicals at bay.

Everyone should have voted YES in California......but they were fooled by rhetoric.......and inuendo...and most cant read for themselves.......... they took the MEDIA'S WORD FOR IT.

I wouldnt give you a nickle for California.......... .except, I'll sell my real estate there for big bucks, and take it right out of state with me, one of these days..............an d spend it in Missouri. *

Do you know how many Republican Families want to leave there? *Ive read some statistics that would blow minds........about how many are.

Do you know, that anything has to make the Dems perk up..........do you think they really made strides toward 2008...or that during this off year election the Republicans had little to offer, and didn't take themselves seriously enough? *Sometimes we get complacent with our situation and don't push hard enough.........we need to be the grassroots that grows Timothy and Red Top..........not quack grass!!!

Maybe we should let the Dems have it, and see if they can perform the Miracle's they are predicting.
A world full of abortion, and children who can do anything without parental consent, and God can go to Hell, and..............rem ember Nero Fiddled while Rome burned...........we cannot just debate these liberals, WE MUST EXPOSE THEM for what they really are..........

Have a good day, I have to get to the Doctor..........afte r finding myself on the kitchen floor, salting the rug..........yesterd ay......I wanna make sure Ive not re whipped my whip lash............the rest of me is weak but working.

Hugs

At least Corzine will be leaving Washington D.C. I sure hope the New Jersey Republican Party has a backbone to come up with a winning candidate to replace Corzine.

My walk was nice. It is a pretty day. Yesterday, I saw an ibis. They are pretty birds.

The Dimwit win here in Virginia isn't totally unexpected. *At least for as long as I've lived here (20 years), we usually vote in the governor from the opposite party of whoever is President. *So when Clinton was disgracing the White House, we had Governors George Allen and Jim Gilmore; when GW Bush was voted in, we got Governor Warner and now Kaine. *But all is not lost -- the Republicans won for lieutenant governor and attorney general.

Since i got out of the "habit" of using electricity, I am having a hard time getting my patootie back in gear with posting. So I am going to try and plunge right in with the first installment of my Hurricane Wilma saga, and I hope i don't run on too long! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

As you all know, I hung the last of my second floor shutters on Sunday while everyone else golfed and fiddled. I related how some elderly woman in Walgreens actually mocked and scoffed at me for hanging my shutters, saying it was just going to "blow over like they all do". Only my dear friends in the precinct seemed to undersatnd me! At 7:00AM Monday the power went off and the wind began to howl. My neighbor Tracy (from New Orleans) called me and asked if I would like some coffee which she made on a propane grill. She put some in a thermous and brought it over and when I opened the door, I saw the street was starting to fill up with water, about knee deep. At this point, all the neighbor ladies, in flip flops and nighties, waded out into the water with rakes and shovels to clear the storm drains so that the water wouldn't flood into the houses. Soon the kids came out (it was the eye of the storm) and they started helping to gather the downed branches away from the storm drains. As soon as the drains were cleared and the floodwaters began to subside, the eyewall hit with 135mph winds in the opposite direction, sending debris flying everywhere, and scattering everyone back to their houses. I was hit on the lip by a little leaf, but it felt like a bullet and my lip swelled up. I sat on a ladder in the garage, looking out into the storm when I saw a giant oak branch teetering over Mike's beloved camero in the driveway. Mike ran out to move the car into a neighbor's yard, and then sat in the car with the wind rocking it back and forth, unable to get out of the car as the tree branch came crashing down harmlessly into our driveway. Finally, he scooted out of the camero and went into Tracy's house. Meanwhile, Torey the Dog and I went upstairs to the master bedroom because we heard some noise upstairs in the attic. I opened the closet door, and the trap door to the attic burst open, blowing insulation and dirt into the bedroom. Then the roof (made of tons of concrete tiles) began to BOUNCE UP AND DOWN, pumping insulation and sheet rock and dust all over me like a giant bellows. I later found out that this happened to nearly every house in the neighborhood. A $2.00 thingy called a "hurricane strap" kept the roof from flying away like a giant sail.

Slamming the closet door shut, I ran back downstairs, and peeked out the front door, just in time to see a twenty foot banyan tree uproot itself across my front door, effectively blocking my way. Out back, my screen porch with the ugly tin roof that I really really wanted to replace, of course, remained serenely attached to the house. (RATS!)

As soon as the wind stopped, I opened the front door just in time to see a group of about 15 young men of varying hues, stripped to the waist and sporting tatoos, all carrying machetes and heading right for me. As I stood there , they said, "Where do you want us to put this tree, Ma'am?" and proceeded to chop up the banyan tree, freeing my front door. Then they continued around the neighborhood, chopping trees as they went. And thus will begin the second installment of the saga.

Well, finally Ohio showed that we do have a few brains left! *Sorry that Issue 1 passed, but thank goodness 2-5 went down in flames. *Considering the smear ads that the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif had, it's a wonder.

Oh, Bud, I am praying for you that the Lord's will be done. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/grouphug.gif *I'm happy for you that you will be going Home, but you know we will miss you. *The Lord knows the number of your days and when they are up, He will say "Well done, good and faithful servant. *Come Home now and rest."

pRIM, so glad to hear that Mr. pRIM's surgery went well. *Getting him to mind the doctor while he's healing might be a challenge, if he's anything like my Dad was (which he sounds like it!) *Good luck!!!

Mary Lou, so good to have you back. *I was worried about you!

To everyone, I thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. *My husband is having a harder time than I am, because he was home with Mom all day and now he's alone all the time with too much time to think. *So I have put him to rearranging all the bedrooms. *My computer is on the kitchen counter and now we can set up one of the spare bedrooms as an "office".

Sorry I missed out on all the "horsie" talk yesterday! *Denver is a bay, too, a QH/Belgian gelding. *I tried to put his picture in here, but it was WAAAAY too big.

OK, I'd better get back to work. *Everyone have a wonderful blessed day. *Don't forget to pray for our troops!

Hugs to all

About a month ago I heard that the governments of Louisiana and New Jersey were the two most corrupt state governments in the USA. Anybody want to lay bets on how long it will take after Corzine becomes the official governor of NJ to be accused of government corruption?

Praise God for the sane people of Texas for upholding the sanctity of marriage.

This afternoon we take our son for his "once every three months" visit to his endicrinologist. He is doing so much better on the insulin pump now and we hope that his A1C test will be lower that it was in July.

Wow! Mary-Lou, thanks for chapter one of your Hurricane Wilma saga. I can't wait to read the next installment.

You all have a great day. I'll be checking in from time to time.

Many California voters wanted reform but the millions spent to derail these won.The bright side? In San Diego, they finally voted in a mayor that is actually qualfied for the job, the first time since Pete Wilson was mayor who did great things for San Diego. As Arnold said, the California government has a dollar but are spending a dollar ten cents. Once again, the average taxpayer gets the shaft.

Thanks to the quick action of the nightgown ladies and the machete guys, the little neighborhood of Fay's Cove was able to emerge from Hurricane Wilma without major flooding damage. It was amazing, though, how fragile the infrastructure proved to be. There was no electricity, no land line telephone service, no cell phone service, and no access in or out of the neighborhood due to fallen trees. Since everybody had electric garage door openers, all the houses were unlocked, and every fence in the community had been tipped over, so there were no yards or property lines. There were generators, but no gasoline to run them, and the newer cars were equipped with anti-theft devices so that gas could not be siphoned out of them. People began to immediately call upon their neighbors, grilling up meat that had thawed in the freezers, and sharing their propane grills with one another. The barbecue went from house to house, and each night the kids would schlepp the lawn chairs from one house to the next. Across the street, a fence had fallen on a water pipe, and a neighbor's water was pouring into the street. Fixing this was a first priority. Another neighbor built a campfire in his yard and was burning the fences to make hot water for laundry. He had a chainsaw as well, and was able to clear some trees from the main street (funny, i don't remember ever paying any taxes to HIM!) We had a real hard time fixing Gary's water pipe as it was PVC and it just didn't want to go back together without leaking! Since i had made a point of saving water, i gave my water to Gary because i still had water coming out of my faucets. Since Gary had both a grill and a little propane stove, he gave me the stove and a little can of propane so i wouldn't have to eat cold chef-boy-ar-dee for lunch. Dinner was always a feast...Arroz Con Pollo, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Nicaraguan Steaks on the grill, lots and lots of hot dogs and SPAM, but I burned it off cutting the trees into three foot lengths and dismantling the fences into three foot pieces for the trucks if they ever decide to come and haul away the trash. I also did the laundry by hand in the kitchen sink and hung it on the frames of my screen porch (the screens all blew away) and made coffee by ladling the propane heated water into the coffee maker one ladle at a time.

Did I mention that in all this time I never did once see a town official, police officer, helecopter, Red cross worker, street sweeper, or even a lousy cup of coffee from the HOA? But I digress.

Right after the storm, Mike had to fill several prescriptions but we didn't have any cash. We walked down to Walgreens which was open, but only for one person at a time. A child with a flashlight led us to the back of the store, where Jay, the Pharmacist, filled the prescriptions by flashlight. He gave Mike enough for five days and said that as soon as he could get to an ATM that worked, he could get the rest of the Rx. Hang onto that thought, because in the next installment, I will relate how that event led to Mike's identity being stolen at the ATM five days later. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Anyway...here we go. Now we were on our third day without power or telephone, and still no word from the gub'mint about what we were supposed to be doing so we were on our own. I had just celebrated my 53rd birthday and in a neighborhood of "starter homes" we have a lot of young marrieds with little babies. The milk had all gone sour and I felt like a grandmother to all these babies. It was time to do something! We managed to obtain some powdered milk and some canned milk for the kids and i was keeping them entertained playing "Old MacDonald" on the accoustic guitar. Did i mention I have SIX keyboards, but NONE of them worked as they were ALL electric? Grrrrr. Kids love Torey The Dog, so we wandered around the neighborhood, playing with kids and keeping them occupied while the dads and moms worked on scary things like chainsaws and generators. Ten year old Oscar was real helpful sawing up my Banyan tree into managable pieces. Kids were already forsaking video games for funky old fashioned things like football and baseball in the street. The weather was blessedly cool, so these sports were quite invigorating. In the bright sunlight, I noticed a dark stain of water damage on my living room ceiling. Uh-oh. So I walked across the stree and looked up and sure enough, there were tiles missing off my roof. Perhaps FEMA or the Army Corps of Engineers could get up tarp up there for me? I would have to find out. Meanwhile, Mike would have to get to an ATM machine and pay for the rest of that prescription.

Friday night after the hurricane a cheer went up in the neighborhood. We had power! People ran out into the street and began hugging and kissing one another. I led a grapevine dance down the middle of the street. Fireworks were set off! I ran to my house and burst through the front door and switched on the light....NOTHING! NADA! RIEN! NICHEVO! BUPKUS! I was the ONLY one on my street without power! I called Florida power and light the next day from a neighbor's cell phone. The thought the whole neighborhood was fixed so I must have been on a different grid. The next day i got telephone service and all my neighbors phones went off but it would be a week before I would get electricity.

As soon as my phone came on, it rang. It was VISA. Someone looked over Mike's shoulder at the ATM and tried to clean out our bank account after he did a cash advance to pay for the prescription. The Bank caught the fraud but they had to close out the VISA and issue a new number which would take ten days. Since i hadn't worked now for two weeks and hadn't gotten paid for three, it meant we now had NO MONEY.

But, as Bob Dylan once said, "When You ain't got nothin', you ain't got nothin' to lose."

OK so this would be my first venture out into the cold cruel world outside of Fay's Cove. So I steeled my will and got into the car and ventured forth, and it was a very scary ride! I hardly recognized the area. Nearly every tree was down, and the few sticks left standing were dead and brown from wind burn. Every utility pole was snapped in two and live wires were hanging on the street, and there were no traffic signals or stop signs. Most drivers were curteous, but not all. When I got to "Operation Blue Roof", I was greeted by a big sign: WE DO NOT DO CONCRETE TILE ROOFS.

So I turned around and went home again.

That was twenty miles of gas burned up for nothing.

Halloween was coming and I had some change in the bottom of a drawer, so since the candy in Walgreens had been marked down to half price (as it was melting!) we bought a couple of bags so the kids could still have Halloween in spite of everything. My house was still dark so I sat out in the middle of the street with Torey The Dog and told the kids she was my daughter dressed as a Border Collie! Soon the street was filled with Trick or treaters and we did halloween anyway. Later, while Mike was still at work, Torey The Dog and I went back indoors and played Five card Poker by candlelight. Since i used honey-roasted peanuts for ante, and a varied schedule of reinforcement, she was very complient and we played for nearly an hour. When her hand beat mine, she got a peanut. When mine beat hers, I got it.

I got my power back exactly two weeks after the storm, but it will probably be months before they pick up the trash.

And did i mention that Insurance has decided that they don't want to cover my losses because they have invented a new thing called a "Hurricane deductable" and sneaked it into everyone's policies last autumn after Hurricane Ivan?

Hey, there should be some terrorists down there with a few extra sticks of dynamite so that he can teach that thing a lesson.

No one has mentioned Maine. Up here the citizens just affirmed a recent "Gay Rights" law passed by the governor and legislature via a referendum. Among other things this law protects are "transgenders" yeah, I had to look this up to. What this is is - if you feel you are something (a man insead of women, vice versa, etc) then your are. that means that Joe might want to slip on his size 42 skirt and step into the ladies room, moustache and all to wizzz. Never mind if your 10 year old daughter is in there. In Maine it's now his right. In otherwords, sometimes you feel like nut, sometimes you don't..." well you get the picture. Thomas, what if Joe- the maineiac - feels like a sheep? Can he bring his sheep boy or girl friend to public places? I’m sure this law protects same gender same parent relationships as well. If two men can get married I don’t see why two brothers couldn’t get married and the same for sisters. Why not brothers and sisters, mothers and sons? Surely the Constitution can be stretched and distorted to guarantee these types of relationships?

Bombs in Jordan?? So that takes another place off of my vacation list. Wait a minute - I don’t see it on the old list. All I have left is San Antonio and they say that the Katrina refugees in Austin and San Antonio are stealing cars at a record pace so that they can get back to New Orleans. But the police don’t want to hold it against the New Orleans refugees because they don’t have their own cars and they already drank up their FEMA money – that’s why they need to get back to New Orleans.

Well, the fact that this is a liberal state was so much more than obvious at the polls last night. It always has been a bastion of liberalism here but all of us conservatives keep the lamp of hope burning. We're keeping the gas tax that was imposed, I believe ours is close to the highest in the country and the county seats that we thought we could win didn't happen. The Republicans were Soundly trounced last night in both elected positions and initiatives.

The election process in King County still hasn't been fixed and there is rampant errors and (possible) fraud running through there. Good thing I don't live there anymore. Sure sounds like the 2004 elections all over again.

Well, so much for that. We just have to try to be stronger on the next go around.

Stormy, sorry to hear about your BIL. I'll try to hook up with you later.

I figured it was faster to get a bunch of links so you could look at then for yourself, pRIM. Mind you, some of these places are a tad high for Wyoming, but in the price range of someone from California and other high dollar states. There are other pluses for living in Wyoming:

No state income tax
Low state sales tax 4% state rate + 1% in some counties
Lots of wide open spaces. You can sometimes drive for miles without seeing another car.
No unions to tell you where to work and what job you can do or not do.

Last test 3 months ago it was 11%. They say he is doing fantastic in his maintaining his diabetes, especially for a 15 year old.

Mary-Lou it is a crying shame what your insurance did to you. That may be something you may have to shop for when your policy comes due. We changed this year and got a better rate plus extremely better coverage. I have heard that a home-owner ought to change their insurer about every 3-4 years.

Hello Folks,
So what's happening here? Are we all moving to Wyoming?

Why don't we all just pitch in and build a campground there and we could spend the summers there..but not the winters, brrr.

Then we could sit around the campfire and sing and someone could tell me what it means when Michael rows his boat ashore, or why someone tells their son, "Go Rest High On that Mountain."

I love songs, I just like when I know what I'm singing about. Kumbaya???

Good Evening,

The last I heard was 57 dead in Amman, Jordan. Many more injured.

Mary Lou we just checked our insurance policy and talked to the neighbors and I guess this is an across the board aditional charge from ALL insurance companies. Ours is four times the normal deductible though.

Have enjoyed reading your saga. Hope you get everything straight faster than we did. After Opal it was five months, and after Ivan it was close to a year to get everything done.

I guess I have a champagne taste and a beer pocketbook. I will have to stay where I am. Everything I liked was way too expensive. Besides I would never be able to pry my hubby away from his home and our family is close by. I am sure they wouldn't move to Wyoming with us.

Musicman, glad to hear about your son's bloodwork. Did you know that in Canada that is what the meters measure so you don't have to run into the doc for that particular test? The meter looks exactly the same as the ones we have and use here. I am wondering if we will ever get them here. It would save insurance companies and diabetics a good bit of money over the long haul.

Oh Katy, I bet it hurts to see your Grandmother that way. Does she live by herself or have someone to help her?

Have a pleasant evening all.

Hi Ya'll,

Thanks to all of you who made such nice remarks about my BIL. He had to have been a very patient man--anyone who lives with one of my sisters would have. Couldn't help thinking about her a lot today, too! She was quite memorable.

She was the type person who had more talent than she had time--she could look at one of those high-dollar dresses in a store and go home, cut it out w/o a pattern and make it and you wouldn't have known the designer, herself, didn't make it--she had a very early start on that sort of thing.

She was 4 when my mother and daddy married (he had 4 kids, mama had 1) and she was the baby, then.--My mother was looking for her wedding dress and found that my sister had cut it up and was making doll clothes out of it! I would have loved to have seen my mother's face, then, or maybe I wouldn't! Her husband (the one who died) owned a glass company and since she worked there, she made a lot of things out of glass-picture frames, fancy mirrors, etc.

She loved to travel, but was scared to death of flying--one day she and my oldest sister were on an airplane and one of the pilots strolled back through the cabin and said to them: "Where are you ladies going today?" She looked at him in shock and said "DON'T YOU KNOW http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif" So, you can see, we got to laugh a lot in our family about real-life happenings! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

I know none of you knew them and I'm sorry to bore you--it does help to talk to someone, though! My BIL was the last of the oldest bunch to go! There are still 7 brothers and sisters and their mates left (at least, those who still have mates--they're all still around, just not still married to them)!

pRIM, so glad to hear ANDY is doing well!! I know you'll take great care of him!

Haven't heard anyone mention the killings in Tn. Do you suppose these kids are doing those things, now, because they know they won't get the chair or the needle for it because they are too young, thanks to the SCOTUS!! They say they want to try him as an adult--but, so what, if he's under 18, he can't get the death penalty, right? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif SICK!!

Thanks again to all of you kind people--welcome to the new ones and welcome back to the ones who have been MIA! WHERE's BILLYT http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif He even missed Trivia this week, didn't he? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Katy, isn't your grandmother in her 90s? By assisted living, do you mean a nursing home or some other kind of facility--Just curious--I've never really known exactly what "assisted living" means--just an old country girl and not sure about some of the newer citified terms. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/grouphug.gif

"Assisted Living" isn't quite like a Nursing Home. The people have their own apartments but have meals in dining rooms, help with housekeeping and medical needs and activities. It's a much nicer alternative to a nursing Home when someone needs some help with daily living. of course, nothing beats one's own home and independence but sometimes it just can't be helped. I used to work in an Assisted living facility as an Activites Director, and i still entertain in them on occasion. Anyway, Hubby just came home, so I'll say good night to all. These elections meant nothing except perhaps in California. Arnold has lost some of his appeal because the communists who run the teacher's unions and other unions don't want to lose their windfall at retirement.

Otherwise nothing made much difference except the "one man one woman" proposition in Texas. 85% for the bill 15%against.

Corzine won in N.J. any man with %500 million can buy any seat in N.J. and I hear he spent $60 million of his own money to win. I don't know why we can't get a good candidate in Virginia. Northern VA is the problem but I know there are good conservatives who could win with help.
I wrote the President, my two Senators, and my Congressman and told them it's time to get off their butts and put the crooks in the democrat party on the run. I don't know why our guys always want to be nice but it's time to as we say in Texas tell the dems, the media, the academic elitists, and the Hollywood communists, just "how the cow eats the cabbage" We just can't sit back and let things happen we need to take control and fight like the champions we really are. Bring up the lies, the payoffs, the destruction of highly classified documents by Sandy Berger, the millions funneled to Reid's son and son in law, and *so on and on. Get the press talking about their lies and deceit and get them off Rove and Libby. I say if Rove is innocent then get him out there strategizing for '06 with potential candidates. If he's not innocent then put him in a back room and do he same things. What ever, we need to take the high ground back and keep the press excited about all the dems mis-deeds. *They have plenty to cover. Then we need to find some candidates with a very large pair of gonads and win with vigor and values. I know we have a lot of those good guys and gals out there and we need to get them campaigning now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *
I've been getting a lot of mail from he DNC lately. I don't know what's going on but I'm not very nice to them when I tell them to stop sending me their propaganda.. How about all of you? Are they contacting you much?
