Hero's Kin Slams Times

NY Post

The family of a Marine killed in Iraq slammed The New York Times yesterday for selectively excerpting a letter he wrote predicting his own death, while the paper scandalously ignored a long passage in which he praised America's mission.
"I thought they hadn't finished the story, that they hadn't told the whole story," said Timothy Lickness, the uncle of Cpl. Jeffrey Starr, 22, who was killed in Ramadi in April during his third tour in Iraq.

"I wrote to the Times and said it would be proper to honor Jeff by completing the story. They never responded."

This is just what we have come to expect from the New York Times. It takes a small portion of a quote to slant the story for the liberal view. They do this often but don't get called on the carpet for it and it is kept a dirty little secret.

I applaud this family for setting the record straight and showing just how biased the NYT is. This man was a true American hero and deserves to be remembered as such.

It is time that people start to stand up to those liberal papers. All they do is publish incomplete stories or lies.

God Bless you & your family for standing tall and setting the record straight. Rest assured that the NYT will NOT respond to your efforts.
May your son rest in peace.

The only way you can get the attention of news outlets, such as the NYT is to hit them where it hurts, in the pocket book.
There are two ways to do this, one revoke any subscriptions and explain why.
Or target the businesses that advertise with them. Write the companies that buy advertising in their papers, or on the air, and tell them that as long as they continue to support newspapers that use dirty tricks like this, or degrade America in general, with their advertising you will not buy their products. One or two people who quit buying may not hurt their bottom line, but if they start to see their products left sitting on the shelves, they will get the message. As one Congressman once stated, when he begins to feel the heat he gets the message. Also, if enough letters or emails start arriving in corporate headquarters, they can't ignore them.

Mr Lickness, CPL Jeffrey Starr is a hero. I served my country for 20 years in the Active Army and 22 years in the Reserves. Jeffreys' letter, as presented by his mother on Fox News' The O'reilly program, only solidifies my feelings about Jeffrey. I am proud to call him my comrade in arms.
Don't wait for the NY Times to correct the dispicable act they committed in excerpting parts from Jefffrey's letter. The NY Times continues to become more and more of a yellow journalism rag publication.
You might want to look into the possibility of bringing legal action against The NY Times for trying to twist so gallant a patriotic, brave relative into something he obviously could never be.
Please accept this old soldier's condolences and convey them to his mother. Tell her all true Americans are proud of Jeffrey Starr and deeply grateful to him for his contributions to our freedom.

Thank you very much for standing up to the 'evil media'.

As the Mother of a "24 year" 2004 Army Iraqi Vet....I salute your tenacity and your ability to set the media straight.
Thanks so much.... our sacrifices seem very small, compared to yours, but your words embolden us to flaunt our feelings of doing the right thing, when it needed to be done.

Our family knows we didn't do this in vain.....we did what had to be done, and we did it for our Country and our Fellow Man...........and God was with us. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif

I'm with Mr. Russell on this one!

What if they printed a newspaper, and nobody read it?!

Are you now, or have you ever been, an advertiser in the New York Times?!

I said it months ago, :its time to put the old gray lady out to pasture! Get her a shopping cart, and find her a nice warm grate to pass the cold winter on, and let her collect recyclables for sustenance!

I'm so totally amazed that the NYT has such a high opinion of its opinion as to think people will pay $50.00 a month to read it! They would have to pay me $50.00 a week to waste my time on it! Sadly, it still finds its way into my life, usually here and on other blogs where people of intellect discuss its bias and cowardice. The world would be much improved by its absence!

God bless the families of our fallen!
Please, let us learn from this: GIVE NOTHING TO THE NEW YORK TIMES FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif I also saw Bill O'Reilly's interview with Mrs. Starr, and my heart goes out to the family. I too, am a 20 year + veteran of the "cold war era". I think the only way to get at the NYT in their case is through legal channels. Of course, the NYT no doubt would have "Soros money" and lawyers backing it, so would be a real expensive battle. Got an interesting mail from Conservative Petitions listing a number of books , one of which details the number and amount of WMD's found in Iraq that no paper ever published. The book is called "Disinformation" and if every American were to read it, would really be a wake up call concerning the Dim0cRAT "third party" rantings against the Bush administration and America in general. It is truly sickening but they are the ones who are responsible for our continuing death toll, since Al Jazeera gleefully spreads their "protests" and propoganda "Hate Bush" attitudes all over the near East which gives the terrorists impetus in their Jihad against the "western world"...
GOD bless America, our leadership, and our military and families who are preserving our Freedom !!
