My Muth’s Truths column on Sunday got Sen. Ben Nelson’s (D-Neb.) office rather hot under the collar. In a series of emails to me today from David DiMartino, Sen. Nelson’s Communications Director, I was informed that Sen. Coburn’s measures - including cutting out $950,000 for a museum parking lot in Nebraska - wouldn’t have reduced spending or the deficit.
Um, OK. But the issue here wasn’t about reducing spending. It was about setting spending priorities. On the other hand, had the measure passed, it certainly WOULD have reduced the spending on the Joslyn art museum. I think we all can agree on that!
