At first blush this would be a simple statement requiring nothing more than alertness to one's surroundings and a motivation to vigilance at the top level of consciousness.

In the Spanish-American war we thought that the enemy was Spain. Instead it was in our own backyard led by newspaper moguls Hearst and Pulitzer with their infamous lies and fabrications, a trait which is still an honored legacy by our own fourth estate. In both world wars the enemy was plainly in view and within our cross hairs, the two wars where we didn't have to keep looking over our shoulder. However, in Vietnam and Korea there was doubt regarding which was the deadliest enemy since he was professed as being both abroad and here. In Afghanistan and the two Iraqi wars it became evident again that although we did have an enemy in far places there was still a formidable one hiding in our midst. In Norway and in France the Quislings and the Vichy were easily definable and tractable but in the United States our fifth column was and is a traitorous entity. Still attacking and still hiding behind our Constitution.
