Goldwater promises to tighten border

AZStarnet

SUN CITY WEST - Invoking the image of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the newest candidate for governor promised Tuesday to crack down on illegal immigration.

Republican Don Goldwater told an audience of about 50 people here the 9/11 attack "was a direct result of our unofficial open border policy."

What good do these Propositions do if judges and governors undermine them and refuse to acknowledge what the "people" voted for? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Now, let's see here. Just how in the hash-brown hell can some Attorney General of the State of Arizona INSTRUCT the Top Cop of Arizona in regards to executing legislative written decisions[{(LAW)}]http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

I suppose this is also in response to her AG's advice, . . out of concern for jurisdictional struggles that might arise. He would actually have to do a fair amount of work here, ironing out the inter-agency battles, but thats his problem. Sounds like there's more here than an outsider such as myself might comprehend, . . not having direct experience.
I'll wait till Old Man explains it from a native's view!

I'm glad Goldwater is doing this

Tancredo was just on O'Reilly and said what some here have been saying. Open borders are for low wages and the Hispanic vote.

He said the leaders in Congress don't want to buck the President and thus don't fight to close the border. Plus some of them also want the low wages and votes they think this is going to get them. I think they are wrong but, right and wrong often don't mean as much as perceptions. However, the pressure from the American voter is mounting and before the 06 election some politicians better know where they stand and announce it or they may no longer be in Congress.

The Democrats seem to be getting this and even though they can't be trusted and will do something different when in, are good at convincing voters they are listening. I hope Republicans running in 06 see the danger of this issue changing the majority in Congress.

I hope Goldwater and others can get something serious done at the border before some Middle East type sneaks some "device " across the border and sets it off in a metropolitan area. This would also immediately set off a serious impeachment effort against Bush for deliberately failing to ensure the domestic tranquility. This possibility was also mentioned on the O'Really factor tonight.

Right on OM! As usual. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif I'm hearing more and more conservatives who are very unhappy with the administration's stance on immigration, social security and even the war. The Prez. numbers are sinking fast. The latest Associated Press POLL (http://www.pollingreport.co m/iraq.htm) shows a steady decline in confidence regarding the WOT in Iraq. And, of course, illegal immigration here at home doesn't help his numbers. Even though this poll was about Iraq, I believe it would reflect the same or worse if it were dedicated to illegal immigration only. And, yes, I know that polls are very ubiquitous and many times partisan. However, I'm also listening to the "people" I've known for years who are staunch conservatives.

The worst part is, the Democrats do an even worse job when it comes to national security and illegal immigration. The public grows weary of continually being between a rock and a hard place. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes2.gif

With oil prices soaring, more of our guys getting killed now than ever in Iraq (1800 last coung), and wide open boarders here at home, it's going to be a very interesting 2006. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
