United Nations weapons inspectors have uncovered evidence that proves Saddam Hussein is trying to develop an arsenal of nuclear weapons, The Telegraph can reveal. The discovery was made following spot checks last week on the homes of two Iraqi nuclear physicists in Baghdad.

Acting on information provided by Western intelligence, the UN inspection teams discovered a number of documents proving that Saddam is continuing with his attempts to develop nuclear weapons, contrary to his public declarations that Iraq is no longer interested in producing weapons of mass destruction.

The revelation follows last Thursday's discovery of a number of warheads at an ammunition storage facility south of Baghdad that had been designed for carrying chemical and biological weapons.

So! And the next step is?

The next step is to remove the UN inspectors and loyal Americans before we put our troops on the move. Bush should speak on TV and tell Saddam that he must leave Iraq and his army must step away from their weapons if they want to survive.

We have waited much too long already. We have a historic opportunity to plant the seeds of democracy in the Middle East. If we take Saddam out and the new democratic government that is standing by to take control is true to their word at the very least the Iraqi people will be free to make their own mistakes. If a democratic government prospers in Iraq Iran will follow with relative ease. That leaves the Islamic world cut in half by free people. With Iran out of the terrorism business the murderers in Lebanon will run out of money and Saudi Arabia will have to cut support to the terrorists because there won’t be Iran or Iraq to blame..
