TORONTO *— The FBI is no longer looking for the five subjects of a nationwide manhunt that was kicked off just before the new year, law enforcement officials said.
The five foreign-born men, whose pictures were posted on the FBI's Web site, were believed to have entered the United States illegally on or before Christmas Eve as part of an immigrant smuggling ring.
An FBI official told Fox News on Dec. 30, when the story originally broke, that the five were considered "suspected terrorists."
The law enforcement sources cited bad information by an informant, John Michael Hamdani, who has been held in Ontario since late October. The information provided by Hamdani touched off the FBI's nationwide alert for the five men last month.
