In Our Opinion
In Congress, bad ideas are like zombies - always rising from the dead and finding new ways to cause trouble. The latest example is the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), formally known as the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea.
LOST was first drafted at a U.N. conference way back in the 1970s. After determining that it was hopelessly flawed and contrary to America's interests, President Reagan refused to sign it. So it sat for more than a decade until, in 1994, President Clinton decided that a new agreement fixed the treaty's problems. Given Clinton's penchant for bending the truth, it's unsurprising that he made this "agreement" appear to be more than it was. In reality, the agreement doesn't even purport to amend the treaty, let alone fix the numerous flaws that would undermine the United States.

Danny - I think I posted an article on this months ago too. Maybe with Bolton, this will finally hit the ash heap of "1001 ways to hand over our sovereignty to third world faux leaders."

The bottom line is simple: LOST represents the greatest transfer of sovereignty to the U.N. that the U.S. has ever contemplated. At the same time, LOST could facilitate the largest-ever forced transfer of wealth from America to the Third World while putting our national security interests at risk and potentially crippling the U.S. Navy.

It has not been long since Oliver North warned us about this treaty - we definetly need to contact our senators.
The article has a link to a "blastfax" service which requires payment via credit card, etc.
The senate started hearings on CAFTA yesterday - another reason to contact our senators.

Same here, and it went unnoticed. The only other than yourself that I've seen post anything on this was RIM and an Oliver North column a couple of weeks ago, posted by Terri..
If there were any others posted, they must have slipped by me, when I wasn't looking.

I honestly don't see how any U.S. citizen could endorse this.
Reagan will roll over in his grave if this goes forward. Along with the many other treaty's we're surrendering to.

A look into the future

Breaking News:
Blue Hat citizens of the world planted a tree today, in it's first demonstration of the "Saving the Earth Project" which launched immediately following the fall of the former United States in the western part of U.N territory, in an effort to save the damaged planet with a little environmental rehabilitation. The damaged is thought to be extensive - and directly attributed to the former occupiers of the United States.
Ironically enough, the tree was planted in the soil of what used to be a lot of a Hummer Dealership.
Next week, the 400,000,000 nth same-sex wedding reception will be held in the former state of Montana.

The U.S. Senate, the president of the United States, and the American people are the targets of a disinformation campaign being waged by a coalition of nations and organizations united behind a re-distributive philosophy that has the wealth, power, freedoms, and successes of the United States in its cross hairs.
The Law of the Sea Treaty is a political document that is being promoted in legal terms.* Its purpose? -to maintain the ideologically-bankrupt concepts + policies of the so-called New International Economic Order.

I don't understand why we need to blame Clinton for this.
Has it passed? NO
The Bush administration would have to submit it for ratification? Right?
The Republicans have a majority in the Senate? Right?
Therefore the Republicans can keep it from passing? Right?
Anyone want's to bet whether more Republicans or more dems would vote for this if it comes up for a vote?
Anyone want to bet whether more Republicans have voted for trade agreements then dems.
Does anyone not know who is the chief cheer leader for the FTAA.

I know Danny, myself and others have been following this since at least mid-04.
Why isn't the "media" picking up on this ? I don't trust our legislators very much these days. What are they up to ? It is being kept toooo quiet, perhaps we need to make some noise, again.
Blast Fax Link (http://www.cfif.org/htdocs/freedomline/current/in_our_opinion/cfiflostllu.htm)
This one did get, and has gotten, my $$ in the past . This can not be allowed to slide by on the bottom of some other "Bill Name or #".
Senate E-Mail, contact site (http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm)
This above site is easy to use and free.
Write your letter and over load their e-mail systems, then perhaps the "media" will be awakened.

I know what you mean - the only media I have noticed giving comprehensive coverage to trade agreements, illegal immigrants and outsourcing is Lou Dobbs on CNN and he "hits" it every week night.
He did a segment on CAFTA yesterday, for those interested, here is a link to the transcript.
