An al-Qaeda member arrested last year has revealed that the terror network's marine strategy could pose a significant threat to US and global security, according to the latest edition of Newsweek magazine.
Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, also known as Mullah Bilal, admits to playing a key role in the October 2000 suicide attack on the USS Cole in Yemen, and against a French oil tanker, using Zodiac motor boats.
According to a senior foreign intelligence official cited by the newsweekly, al-Nashiri, who was captured in 2002, came up with a fourfold strategy for attacks against US and international targets:
