View Full Version : Put Up a Lot of Yellow Ribbons Today

While the wife was shopping at the Sidney NY Tops,
I took a stroll around the busy road leading to the shopping
center with a 300 foot roll of yellow surveyor's tape.
It's 1 3/4 inches wide, and its only $1.39.

Knowing the unbelievable controversy about yellow ribbons on
city/town property in New Jersey, I was careful to drape only
overhanging tree branches, and telephone poles (they're not
municipally owned) with about 50 yellow ribbons and bows.

Wearing my leather flight jacket from l970, and my USS
KITTY HAWK ballcap, I got a lot of honks from people who
yelled their support as they passed, and two very nice
conversations from ladies with kids who actually stopped at the
side of the road and wanted some yellow tape for their trees at home. It felt GREAT to be welcomed and to know the people
of the Catskill region here really support the troops.

I suggest y'all get some tape at the hardware store and take
a stroll this weekend. I bought all the tape the hardware man
had and he's buying more when he learned of my mission.

I suggest busy shopping areas if you can safely do it. I'd steer
clear of stop signs, etc. but telephone poles appear to be safe game.

Uh rah everyone.

Seeing as I am in Germany, and we are advised not to advertise the absence of US soldiers, I have no exterior yellow ribbons. I have tied one around our bedroom door knob, and another on the hat rack where he hangs his beret when he is home. I also have a blue star banner that I purchased from Ebay last summer. It was handmade, during WWII. It hangs in the living room, protected from the sunlight.

I would love to see pictures of ribbon laden trees!!! hint hint.....

I am so proud to hear about this. I wish I could see them.
take care! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif

Hi OldeSalt http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

What a terrific idea. Last year I bought some yellow ribbon and made a huge bow for my front door. But it was satin and too expensive to make a bunch. Now I know where I'm headed today ~ to the hardware store for yellow ribbon. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

And, like lpara says, we're the best "prayer warriers" around. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angel.gif

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsdown.gif * AZ, I'm thinkin' that Le Mayor *and Le Council could be lookin' for a new hobby, like maybe pulling the wings off flies while others keep their seats warm around the council table. *Hope Diane Johnson has as much energy when the next election rolls around.

I'm assuming that this is Pennsylvania. *I see Philly.com and Bucks, which I'm taking to mean Bucks Co., which I know is in Pennsylvania.

Just think I might have to send off a letter or two as I could see no way to send an e-mail. *I just think that "Buddy" would http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif *to get a letter from Wisconsin or >hint-hint< *letters from all over the U.S.

That son of a http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/uzi.gif *(fooled ya didn't I?) has the nerve to talk about the rule of law in the same breath that he says he's against the war? *Him and his demo cronies? *THEY SHOULD BE FLOGGED!!

I'm going to go on line and see if I can find an address. *With a population that small, I'm sure Diane would get a letter and so would Le Mayor "Buddy" Worm.

OS, have my order in to my son.
