WASHINGTON (GOPUSA News) -- The Department of Defense Tuesday released the results of the 2002 Status of Forces Survey. The survey, distributed to 38,000 active duty personnel between July 8 and August 13 of last year, showed an overall improvement in retention rates, job security, and military lifestyle and tradition, even in the face of continuing discontent with housing, pay, and family support programs.
Eighty-three percent of respondents to the survey expressed satisfaction with job security, and over two-thirds (68 percent) expressed satisfaction with lifestyle and military tradition, indicators of morale and unit pride.
Though housing (29 percent satisfaction), pay (38 percent satisfaction), and family support (41 percent) continue to be sore spots with military personnel, even these ratings improved since the last ratings survey conducted in 1999.
