STRENGTHENING AMERICAN BORDERS AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

House of Representatives
April 8, 2003

[Page: H2918] --- The SPEAKER pro tempore (Mr. Porter). Under the Speaker's announced policy of January 7, 2003, the gentleman from Colorado (Mr. Tancredo) is recognized for 60 minutes as the designee of the majority leader.

Mr. TANCREDO. Mr. Speaker, I come to the floor tonight to discuss the issue of immigration and immigration reform. It is a topic that I often take this floor in order to advance, and I have over the last several weeks chosen to separate the topic up into various component parts. And we talked about immigration reform and how much it was needed because of the dangerous situations that exist on our borders. That was the first week.

We talked about, the next week, I tried to address the issue of immigration and open borders and what that meant to the importation of drugs into the country and the impact that that is having on our land.

Today I am going to talk about another aspect of this subject that is seldom discussed. It is one that a lot of people do not want to really focus on because they are not sure how to deal with it. I think specifically of the people in, say, the Sierra Club, Friends of the Earth, and a variety of other environmental organizations that are out there and that focus in on matters that harm the environment; and they have constantly come to us, come to this body in the form of lobbying activity to tell us that we have to do more to protect the land and the environment, the water, the air, because of what man is doing to it. And yet there is almost a deafening silence, if you will, from the same people, the same organizations, when it comes to the degradation of the land that is as a result of the massive numbers of people coming across our borders illegally, the millions of people that are crossing these borders.

I believe Mr. Tancredo has a firm grasp of understanding what is going on and the needs that must be addressed. It is going to take the courage and support of men such as Mr. Tancredo to retain an appropriate amount of preservation and security by addressing such issues.
I hope, for our nation's and our citizen's sake, that Mr.Tancredo is successful in his charge to tackle the problems that we, as a nation, are faced with when it comes to our borders. We MUST, as citizens, collectively speak in a loud voice to our elected representatives on this very issue. I feel it is imperative in order to maintain the free society in which we live. Hindsight is often filled with regrets.

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif I am so pi$$ed I can hardly see straight. Not because I'm just reading this, but because it never gets better. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif While the envirowhackos whine and mew about the caribou in Alaska and what would happen if we dared to explore for oil on an infintesimal amount of land, they totally ignore the destruction that is going on right on our borders ~ not to mention the crime and disease being imported every minute of every day. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif The overwhelming burden to our social services is just icing on the cake. Our government is responsible for this and I will personally hold them accountable at election time. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif

Tom Tancredo will be getting a donation from me and I will support him in whatever he does to bring an end to this travesty.

This makes a joke of the Patriot Act and Homeland Security. Why should we have to relinquish any of our Constitutional freedoms so the government can turn a blind eye to the real problem of our national security. There would be no need for either if we had been minding the store ~ if the INS had done its job.

Let me see if I understand this ~ do nothing at the borders ~ thereby allowing in all forms of human depravity and terrorists ~ then when the country is attacked, not only by terrorists as in 9/11 but on a daily basis through the decimation of our land, we jump into action and form more government departments to ignore the cause. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr class="standard"><td>Quote </td></tr><tr class="standard"><td class="QUOTE">They cut down some of the cactus that actually grows in this area, I mean, actually Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, that is why they call it that, that is why the park is there because it does not grow anywhere else. This is a unique form of cactus. They are cut down and saguaro cactus are cut down and laid across the roads as obstacles so people when they will be driving along the road they stop, their cars are carjacked. They are taken and used to transport drugs and/or illegals and then abandoned all over the area.

Meth labs, this is another interesting one. This is mostly on the northern border, but not exclusive to the northern border.

In Canada, there is a group in Calgary, about 25,000 actually; about 25,000 Muslims reside in the Calgary, Canada area. Strange as that may sound to some, that is the case. There are really several hundred thousand Muslims in Canada. They have been immigrating to Canada for the last several years. This one group in Calgary, according to the folks I talked to that work security for the national parks and the national forests, are telling me that this group is the one that is primarily responsible for the importation into the United States of millions and millions and millions of tabs that are the component parts for methamphetamine. They are shipped from Calgary into the United States. They are cooked at these meth labs that are out there in the national parks and then the proceeds from the sale of these methamphetamine go back up to the organization in Canada, the Muslim group in Canada; and they use that money to support the terrorist activities all over the world.

My mouth fell open when I read this. I am back to thinking the number one priority is to secure the borders.

Welcome, Newbie, thanks for posting!

My Mom had a major role in starting Population-Environment Balance (http://www.balance.org/) and I think she is still on the board of directors.

They believe that every environmental problem gets harder to solve as our population grows. It is such an obvious proposition that it is almost impossible to argue with. But interestingly, the Sierra Club often does just that.

They also argue that if you start with a bunch of poor people in Mexico and allow them to immigrate to America that they do considerably more harm to the environment then if you made them stay home. Most envirnonmental damage is related to energy consumption. A poor person in the third world can only do a tiny bit of harm because they only consume a tiny bit of energy. When you bring them here and they start earning a lot more than $2 per day, they adopt our standard of living and start consuming a lot more. Further they drive the oldest, most polluting cars and they live in old uninsulated dwellings that should be demolished and they lack the awareness about littering, etc that gets indoctrinated into our kids.

I think the argument is a stretch but if it gets a few of the liberal environmental whackos fighting on our side of this issue then it must be a good thing.

Jack

There is some animosity there. They break the pipeline, they pollute the well, and move on.[/QUOTE]

What a travesty. I hope the Minutemen organization stays in the law and keeps their people safe and is able to provide Americans of some first hand accounts of what is going on along our borders. My prayers will be with them.

Okay, if that is what's going on on the Canadian border...what are we doing about that?

Probably nothing, just like the southern one.

Folks, somehow or other, we've got to get organized and start fighting back. These people are going to destroy us AND our country.

Good grief...where are the real Minutemen when you need them.
