The following is taken from the local paper, dated, Dec. 30, 2002.

Hundreds of immigrant drug traffickers have flooded North Carolina in the past seven years, an increase linked to the growth of Hispanic immigrants in the state. At the end of 1995, just 10 Hispanics were in state prisons for drug trafficking convictions. As of October, that number had risen to 400 according to the NC Dept of Corrections.

In Wake County, where Hispanics make up 5.4% of the population, they accounted for 46 percent of drug trafficking arrests in 2002.

Mexican drug trade organizations in NC have essentially taken over the drug trafficking business from other groups, "said Kerri Pepoy, an intelligence analyst for the National Drug Intelligence Center. Nationally, nearly half of all people charged with federal drug offenses between 1984 and 1999 were Hispanic, according to a 1999 U.S. Department of Justice report.

According to the US Drug Enforcement Administration, about 65% of all the cocaine that enters this country and the majority of marijuana comes in from Mexico.

North Carolinas Hispanic population has soared 394% since 1990, with about 65% arriving from Mexico, according to Cencus reports.

The article also indicated that the Free Trade Agreement, which cost thousands of textile jobs in NC, also facilitated the movement of drugs across the border with the thousands of containers of goods which also contain concealed drugs.

When you hear the bleeding heart liberals talking about why we need all of these hard working people, keep in mind that they are from the bottom of the barrel and in addition to drugs, they bring disease, drunken drivers with no license or insurance and many other assorted crimes. This information is just from the state of North Carolina - what would the national figures show?.

Der Alte, this caused me to look for some demographic info for Colorado. In a quick search I found that the commitment rate for Blacks in our state is 553.7 per 100,000, for Hispanics it was 244 per 100,000. *This is not broken out by type of crime but is for all crimes.

An interesting fact from this study is that the fastest growing rate by far is for Anglos. Their totals are much, much lower at 72.3 per 100,000, but their commitments are increasing at a very high rate.

I'm not sure what this proves but I-25 has long been considered a pipeline for drug traffic from Mexico and stolen vehicles returning to Mexico. Apparently it isn't just Mexicans that are causing our problems.
