ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION A PROBLEM LARGER THAN THE IRAQ OCCUPATION

Bill Murphy, a state worker, says he's not against immigration as long as it's controlled and legal. Mr. Murphy has since helped start Concerned Residents for a Better Brookhaven. "The vast majority of people in this town favor immigration," he says - "but legal immigration."

Illegal Turks work without speaking English throughout the Long Island home building and restoration business, earning $800/week, while legal citizens are competing for jobs at K-Mart and Wal-Mart and selling off their homes, to survive. Illegal Greeks are working as waiters in the many Long Island diners.

The once true adage, "they only work the jobs that nobody else wants to do" has not been valid in any sense of the word, for over 7 years now. It is completely inapplicable to today's rampant illegal immigrant job preference in our new outsourced model of life.

The "scabs" of the past in the 1920s and 1930s who broke down the unions and made wages from coast to coast unbearably low, did less damage than today's legal immigrants to our teetering and near collapsing economy.

What can be done in Washington?
