Juan Pablo Beltran, the government's new witness in the federal investigation of driver's license sales, used a pair of computers and a network of corrupt connections to put hundreds of undocumented immigrants behind the wheels of heavy trucks and cars over at least three years, documents show.
Beltran also fabricated medical records and copied test questions needed to get the licenses, investigative records show. Often, Beltran sat alongside applicants who could not speak English, posing as a translator but actually providing his customers answers to test questions he had memorized, he told investigators for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Sunship - Is Beltran an illegal himself? This is very disturbing.

It sure sounds like he is. I can't believe they let him out on bail without bond. From the article:
<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr class="standard"><td>Quote </td></tr><tr class="standard"><td class="QUOTE">Documents show that Beltran entered the country illegally before April 1990 and later applied for asylum. After he failed to show up for a hearing, the asylum case was closed. In addition to the name Beltran, he used an alias, Fredy Barrientos. It was under that name that Beltran applied for asylum and leased an apartment. [/QUOTE]
In cases like this where prosecutors make a choice about making a deal with one guilty party to prosecute another guilty party I always wonder if they cut the deal with the right person.
But there is little I despise more then a corrupt government official so in this case I think they are doing the right thing. It sounds like some of the recipients of these drivers licenses were involved in accidents that killed people so I hope this DMV clerk never sees the light of day again.

Jack

Jack - I agree. It is my understanding that if 3 or more people are involved, the stakes are higher and the crimes are considered to have been committed by a "ring" of criminals. I hope the mother-in-law is included and that they all fry.

Anytime "organized" crime is involved we have a really big problem. whether he is or isn't a member of organized crime rings, the rings are operating and doing it just like he did We have had our scandal in Az. now in this state. I will bet you dollars to donuts that this is going on all over the U.S in more states than we have any idea of.

At this time we do not know if Beltran is "illegal".
Our Press Agency is investigating and if we find something about it it will be posted as soon as we get the info.
Stay tuned.

I believe you are absolutely right. As more and more evidence comes to light, perhaps people will realize what a pickle this country is in as a result of our "open border."

You are probably thinking about MS-13 from San Salvador I think. You are right; they are very bad news. They are extremely violent.
We had a thread about them not long ago.
