Just when you thought we were making strides in homeland security comes another frightening reminder of how little seriousness is being placed on monitoring those who enter our borders. Introducing the Howdy Doody ID card -- also known as the Matricula Consular card.

The Matricula Consular (MC) card is not new, but it's gaining increased recognition as more and more politicians and citizens recognize how the MC card could be used by illegal aliens and potential terrorists to gain entry into America. The MC card is essentially an identification card which is issued by Mexican consulates to Mexican nationals. It is not a travel document nor is it a driver's license.

Mexicans who are legally in the U.S. have no need for an MC card because they already possess appropriate identifying documents such as a passport or green card. It is the illegal aliens who are eagerly waiting for their own MC card. As more and more businesses and institutions accept the MC card as a valid means of identification, illegal aliens are going to be more and more likely to use it.

The MC card does not give the bearer any legal status in the U.S. It is simply an ID card. It carries about as much weight as an ID card to the Howdy Doody Fan Club. Perhaps if I put my picture on my Blockbuster card, I could get into FBI headquarters.

Both Denver and Colorado Springs accept these cards. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif

This just leaves me http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/melt.gif

Guess these cards will be passed out at the "comfort stations" we provide along the border. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smash.gif

This reminds me.....I DID send the 2003 RNC card back to Racicot with a full page type written "love" note primarily about all the "free love" President Bush seems to enjoy with el **********. Just one more thing to put through their shredders, I'm sure. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif I believe that President Bush is skating on thin ice unless he changes some of the decisions he has made. This is ridiculus using this card to get in and stay here. The people that are allowing and abetting the use of it are out of their minds. The other thing that he has done is turn a great many Military retirees against him for not living up to his promise totake care of the Veterans. This is due to not getting the Dual-Comp bill passed as he threatened to veto it and also by not getting the bill to reinstate the free health care that some retirees were promised. He did sign the bill giving the "Farmers" something like 25 billion dollars. Can you spell "Pork Barrel"?

We have an interesting development here in Colorado on the MC cards. Is anything like this going on in state legislatures in other states?

2 Republicans target Mexican ID cards (http://www.rockymountainnew s.com/drmn/legislature/article/0,1299,DRMN_37_16877 25,00.html)

We haven't seen the "m.c.'s" in Maine yet, but we expect to. Hope we'll be prepared to deal with it.
