Vice President Cheney will be the guest on Fox News Sunday today. That should be interesting. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You might want to remember the FDR quote I posted before. It leaves some Democrats looking the southbound side of a http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif heading north.

The Super Bowl is today too. Will you be watching http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/football.gif or the ads? Inquiring minds want to know. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

The Rasmussen tracking poll shows that the president's popularity rose 8% in the last week. It's little wonder with the election in Iraq and that great SOTU speech. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Michael (fatboy) Moore is getting sued by the guy who followed bin Laden around for years in Afghanistan shooting all that footage of him climbing up and down hills. Ok, the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cowboy7.gif will be along with our http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif Touch of Trivia, probably about mid-morning. Gives you time to study up. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Words of Wisdom: "There cannot be an absence of moral content in American foreign policy," she says. "Europeans giggle at this, but we are not European, we are American, and we have different principles." ~ Secretary of State, Dr. Condoleeza Rice

"In the important field of security for our old people, it seems necessary to adopt three principles--first, noncontributory old-age pensions for those who are now too old to build up their own insurance; it is, of course, clear that for perhaps thirty years to come funds will have to be provided by the states and the federal government to meet these pensions. Second, compulsory contributory annuities, which in time will establish a self-supporting system for those now young and for future generations. Third, voluntary contributory annuities by which individual initiative can increase the annual amounts received in old age. It is proposed that the federal government assume one-half of the cost of the old-age pension plan, which ought ultimately to be supplanted by self-supporting annuity plans." ~ President Franklin D. Roosevelt (Congressional Record, 74 Cong., 1 Sess., pp. 545-546.)

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif of the Day: "There are no limitations in the striking power of our armed force. If U.S. imperialists ignite flames of war, we will strike all their bases first and turn them into a sea of fire," ~ North Korean air force officer Huh Ryong

"But on the key dimensions essential for the Democrats' re-emergence as a dominant national force, the party falls woefully short. As voters compare the parties, they see a Democratic Party without purpose and defining ideas; a party not at all strong (weak politically, without strong leaders and direction); not the go-to party on protecting the country; ambivalent on basic values, like right and wrong and responsibility; and only marginally ahead on advocacy for people, being on their side." ~ Democratic strategists James Carville and Stanley Greenberg http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Below is a link to the FAIR site which deals with immigration. You can send free faxes to your legislators either using an existing letter or adding to or subtracting from it, as you see fit! There's another link in the Immigration thread.

This is the link by which you may make your voice heard on the subject of I.D. (drivers' licenses) for illegal aliens... (http://capwiz.com/fair/issues/alert/?alertid=6868011&type=co)

Buh-bye. Just dropped in to leave the link.

Good Morning,

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/HB.gif country.gal and RightWinger

Well it's my Monday, soon to be out the door to work.

I do not agree with giving illegal aliens any benefits. I know that sounds harsh, but native and naturalized Americans work their butts off to follow the rules. I get angry that the elderly in my family are on such limited income and have to worry about getting a major illness or that the cost of living will leave them without their homes -- while -- illegals drive and drink and use the emergency rooms as their doctors/all free.
I'll be interested in checking out Charies links.

Well - off to the salt mines - hope everyone has a great day.

I’m happy but a little surprised that the dems think that they can win over the south – or any other red state for that matter – by backing their http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif into the state. The face of the dem party is pretty ugly :: but by picking Dean as their http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif they are showing their http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif big time.

I am a big fan of President Bush’s guest worker plan. By letting some come in as documented guest workers we can slam the boarder closed to all others. Those who come in will have protection under the law and access to some level of health care but their kids won’t become citizens and they will be expected to go home at some point. If a young man can come and go he would not be as likely to bring his wife with him. That alone would slow the growth of Hispanics. Please do not kid yourselves that the USA can survive a Hispanic majority.

Good Morning from Central Alabama

I like the weather updates some of us post here -- I don't know why, just do. *So for my area today:

Right Now: Partly Cloudy

* * * * * * * * *Pressure: *30.38 in. *

We are going to have a high today of 64 - maybe I should walk the sub-division today instead of using the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tread.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Awful Headline in my newspaper this am:

Good Morning Everyone!

My dance review is all written and is now stewing for a couple of hours before I will serve it up to the publisher.

Meanwhile - trivia first before reading anything so I will pre-empt myself from cheating:

What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech?

***That President Bush was at the podium and John Kerry was in the audience.

Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with?

****Anyone with a viable issue over which state law would have an impact.

In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)?

****I haven't the foggiest idea, but it's probably more than I would want to think about.

Ok, a wee bit of research may come into play on the next few....
What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Where does your own city or county rank?

****East San Diego County is red, red, red.

What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one?

****I think Bob Filner is vulnerable if the Republican party would only put the resources into that race.

Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years?

Gonzales, Rice, and the new Homeland Security secretary.

Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least ?

****Ashcroft will be missed the most. Could do without Mineta.

Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins?

**** I am not at all a football fan. However, since we were born and raised in Philly, that city sure could use a lift since we left.

By the way the Eagles are one of the teams aren't they?

okay - I am off to read everyone else's clever, erudite answers.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

The Trivia Quiz first:

1. What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech?
The most emotional was when the two ladies hugged. The whole speech.

2. Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with? Business groups, they have money.
Minorities supply votes, but little else.

3. In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)?
I don't know, but I would guess at least $25K

4. Ok, a wee bit of research may come into play on the next few....
What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Lubbock county out in west Texas.

Where does your own city or county rank?
I live in Dallas county and I feel strongly that it is close to the top of Republican counties.

5. What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? Not much. In Dallas county, there is only 1 U.S. Rep., 1 State Senator, and 6 State Reps., that are democrat; the rest are Republicans.
I noticed that they (the democrats) all represent the black or hispanic areas of Dallas so a Republican would not do well there.

6. Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years?
Condi, Alberto, and Hadley (National Security Advisor). I know, Hadley is not a cabinet member.

7. Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Powell or Ashcroft.

Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least? *The one that I don't know their name right now.

8. Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins?

Don't care, but think the score will be: Patriots 28 * * *Eagles 17

This trivia quiz made me do too much research; I'm pretty lazy on a Sunday morning.

Talk to y'all later! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

I suppose I need to answer my own questions. sigh

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/triviasm.gif

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/1.gif What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech? My opinion will likely be different than most. The most poignant moment was the mother of the lost soldier hugging the Iraqi woman, but that was not a part of the speech (obviously). The best part of the speech was the little spot when the president looked directly into the camera, and said with incredible sincerity to all of the Iranians watching, that if they stand for liberty/freedom, then we will stand with them. Chuck Muth apparently agreed with me, and claimed it might be a signal to the Iranian people that they might consider overthrowing the mullahs in Iran. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/2.gif Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with? Now why in the world would someone ask such a rhetorical question? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif Well, IMHO one should definitely meet with the leaders of their state party, because they will ultimately provide the most support suring the General portion of the election. Otherwise, I think the biggest industry groups in your district should be met with (such as in south Sarasota County, meeting with the realtors, meeting with retiree groups, homeowners associations, etc.). You should also have as a high priority meetings with what your campaign is going to focus on the most. For example, if it is education reform, you should meet with your state Secretary or Commissioner of Education. If it is crime, you should meet with your sheriff, the state sheriff's association, and other law enforcement agencies and groups.

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/3.gif In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)? It varies by what part of Florida one is running in, but for an open seat here, perhaps $100K.

Ok, a wee bit of research may come into play on the next few.... http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/4.gif What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Where does your own city or county rank? In Florida, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Clay, St. Johns, Collier, Martin, and Indian River counties are all over 50% Republican registration. Sarasota is next with 47.7% Republican registration (but only 31% Democrat). We used to be in the top 5 most Republican counties, but have a lot more third party and independents than the other counties listes. Incidentally, Duval is 37% Republican, Hardee is 27% Republican, and Broward is 26.7% Republican (for those of you living in those counties). http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/5.gif What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one? I believe Bill Nelson is our best opportunity to rid ourselves of, to get our second US Senate seat Republican. Our majorities everywhere else are so large, I think most of the most vulnerable Dims have already been excised. As to the second question, too many to list! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/6.gif Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years? Rice, Gonzalez, and Leavitt. There are perhaps 1 or 2 that are as or more important than perhaps those, but the questions was new Cabinet appointments (or in a new position).

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/7.gif Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif ? Ashcroft. I think Rod Paige did a decent job, and I don't know much about Margaret Spellings. I think Ann Veneman was an excellent Secretary of Agriculture, too. As far as least missed? <span style='font-size:7.01pt;line-height:100%'>Powell</span>. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/8.gif Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/football.gif Don't particularly care who wins. I believe New England will win. The most important thing to me about this Super Bowl (and perhaps Katy, Danny, and others might agree) is that it is the first ever being held in Jacksonville. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I like when Super Bowls are held in Florida, including in Tampa or Broward (technically, the Dolphins stadium, although it is not in Miami). *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

To the Trivia immediately (not that immediacy will help!)

What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech?

* The Hug, of course!! *People will remember that long after they've forgotten every single word of the speech itself.

Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with?

* * *Your party, of course.

In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)?

* * I don't know this, of course!

Ok, a wee bit of research may come into play on the next few....
What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Where does your own city or county rank?

* * Outagamie County, which is where my party affiliation is, of course.

What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one?

* * The candidate I'm supporting for a state district is much more conservative than the incumbent who is moving on up, of course!

Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years?

* * Sec. of State Rice of course and I don't know the rest and not sure if I care, of course!

Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least *?

* * John Ashcroft missed the most, of course. *Of course, I don't who will be missed the least/ *<span style='font-size:7.01pt;line-height:100%'>didn't want to say Tommy Thompson, of course</span>

Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins? *

* * Of course, I really don't care who wins as long as the Packers aren't playing but I will be rooting for the Eagles because Andy Reid is a former Packers' coach and I always did like former Packer, #25 Dorsey Levens. *A very dependable player. *Used to love to watch both him and Edgar Bennett play in the mud. *Such a lovely sight, *Edgar is now a coach for the Packers and maybe Dorsey will come back and be a coach, too. *Then maybe we can all play in the mud together! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Of course!!

There, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cowboy7.gif !! *Do I get a prize now? *You know what the answer is, don't you?

I was going to watch "Face the Damnation" this morning but Schieffer came out flashing his baggy eyes at me and said he was going to ask The VP about an 'EXIT STRATEGY' for Iraq so I turned to a channel about alligators which are only about a tenth as dangerous as the Bob Schieffers of the world.

C'mon, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cowboy7.gif , ask me another question! *I double-dog dare ya!! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nahna.gif

Thanks TGIm and Army Wife. *Hope you signed the faxes. *I added my http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif to mine, too. *I ordinarily don't bother to send anything to my senators because they're leftwing Democrats but I've changed my ways since I heard Feingold say that he never gets any negative comments about the way he supports or doesn't support bills. I think most people felt like me........what's the sense of contacting him when he votes leftwing all the time anyhow. *But now!! *I've turned over a new leaf and he will hear from me anytime I know he's not in line with common sense. *Oh dear http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad1.gif *This may end up being a full-time job for me. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bawl.gif

-- What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech?

A very confident President Bush showing the Congress and the Nation that he is definitely in charge.

-- Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with?

Parents, teachers, and school administrators. School finance is the BIG topic in this session of the Texas Legislature.

-- In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)?

I have no idea. More than the next guy, I suppose. If that's not enough then enough to win.

-- What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Where does your own city or county rank?

Anywhere but that liberal teasip-loving Austin and Travis County.

--What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one?

Texas took care of that in 2004 with re-districting. They were out to get Martin Frost and a handful of other dims, and it worked!

-- Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years?

State, Attorney General and Homeland Security. You might note these are the cabinet posts the dims are putting up the biggest fight over. Hmmmmm...good for America, bad for dims.

-- Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least.

The most--John Ashcroft.
The most--Ann Venneman.

--Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today?

Dallas Cowboys

-- Who do you think will win it?

New England Patriots

I really don’t care to speculate on that.

There has been speculation from the MSM that George H. W Bush is the guy known as “Deep Throat.” Now if you believe that, there is a bunch of swamp land down south of pRIM that is for sale. I think that they saying this to get a raise out of the Bush Family.

There is also news that President Bush is going to increase the funding for the collection department of the IRS. He wants to go after a bunch of deadbeat taxpayers. I think their first targets should the Democratic Congressinal leadership, ie Dingy Harry, Stretch Pelsoi, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teddy.gif the Clintons, Barbara Boxer, Lurch and Lurchette.

Of course all of the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif talking heads are blasting the president’s Social Security plan as non-workable. How do they know it won’t work? There has been nothing published about from the White House yet. At least, President Bush is trying to do something, other than sitting in a corner and crying and wringing their hands about it. The whole thing about it in a nutshell is the Dims don’t want to have free enterprise.

This Super-Bowl has been a tremendous experience for our city. *Our city has really benefit from this. *It has been very http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif seeing the limos, stars, and football players. *The commissioner has come out to say that we will host another Super-Bowl in the near future.

1. What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech? (I'll have to say THE HUG, and the subsequent reaction of our dear President.)

2. Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with? (Immigration!!!!!!! I live in S. Florida, remember?)

3. In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)?(I don't have a clue, but it's a lot more than i have)

4. Ok, a wee bit of research may come into play on the next few....
What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Where does your own city or county rank? (Broward, second only to Palm Biyotch Country in commie pinko blueness. At least we don't have shrinks here raking in a fortune on liberals suffering from Post Election Stress Trauma!)

5. What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one? (We got Mel Martinez, now it time to get rid of Bill Nelson. At least he answers my letters, but he ALWAYS disagrees with me!)

6. Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years? (Condi, Rummy, And Al)

7. Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least ? (Miss the most : John Ashcroft. Miss the least, Mineta and anyother leftover Clintoon appointee)

8. Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins? (being from Boston, i'll root for the Patriots, but I'm going to use this opportunity to go out for dinner. Hopefully the restaurant will be EMPTY!)

When we left Orange County it was pouring! What a surprise that was! But as we got further south no rain just clouds. Whatever it's doing in LA, San Diego is always doing it better. Ha Ha

So, now my font should be back to normal - snow melted from the tops of the "T's"

My review is all done, off to the magazine editor, and already online. Terrific performance - gorgeous dancers, even more gorgeous men. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is a powerhouse of powerful male dancing.

Had my fully cholesterolized breakfast which I am already regretting - but I don't learn from experience. Who amongst us does?

Effie was thrilled to see us back, I could tell from the way she meowed. It kind of went up on the last syllable, rather than down.

Ok - I've jabbered enough....hope both teams win so everyone will be happy.

Just think there's libs out there who would probably really like to get rid of scoring in football games - 'cause that hurts feelings. AWW

5. What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one?

Well, since the only Democrat I can think of in this area is the Clerk of Courts (and she can HAVE it!), I don't think about that one too often.

6. Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years?

Well, Condi for sure, Gonzalez, yes, the other - ??

7. Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least?

I'm sure Ashcroft will be greatly missed. *The least - I'm not sure. *As much as I liked Colin Powell, I've heard that he and President Bush didn't see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, so that would be my guess.

8. Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins?

Put me in the don't care column; I am not into football except for the Ohio State Buckeyes. *Not even for the commercials will I watch today, even though I saw a sneak preview of the new Bud Clyde commercial that looks like the team is going to have a snowball fight. *My favorite commercial is, was, and will always be, the one where the team does homage to NYC after 9/11.

GOOD AFTERNOON, YA'LL

Here I go--showing my ignorance one more Sunday! * But, reckon ya'll are used to it by now! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif

What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech?

I think the HUG will always stand out in our memory, but I just LOVED the way he stared the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif sses down when they started their boos with that firm, resolved look and kept on talking w/o acknowledging their stupid "boos" and "groans"! *

Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with?

Probably in my area, it would be the agriculture leaders/realtors and if they wanted to court the "new" voters (transplanted Yankees) to our area, they might concentrate on the mobile home parks!
In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)?

Have no idea--but, I'm sure it depends on the resolve of the candidate to win!
Ok, a wee bit of research may come into play on the next few....
What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Where does your own city or county rank?

Surely isn't my county or anywhere south of San Antonio, except for our neighborig county, which was red! * These people always vote for a http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif no matter what their beliefs--and, I'm in a heavily populated Catholic area--go figure!

What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one?

Slim to NONE! * *Read reply to #4
Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years?

Rice, Gonzales and whomever the head of Homeland Security is! *
Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least *?

I'd say that WE, the conservatives, will miss Ashcroft, as well as Paige!
Probably Tommy Thompson would be the least--did Minetta actually quit--I never heard that!

Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins? *

I don't really care! * *But, according to all the pundits, the game belongs to the *Patriots.

WHEW!!! * *Always glad to get through one of Rory's Trivia even if I have no idea what I"m talking about. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

As usual, a quiet day in South Texas, just warm enough not to have any heat on! * Nice sunshiny day---I guess I should come in here some day and chonicle one of my days for ya'll---BOY, would you be bored -- but, I bet you'd sleep well after reading it! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Seems like my life used to be a lot more interesting than it is now! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif *

But, I guess my usefulness hasn't entirely past--I had a request fr0m someone who needs some used cars--so, I may go back into business, if I can find them and I just bet I can! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif

Mygoodnessgracious, I went to Walmart and the parking lot was almost empty. *I had to park practically next to the entrance to walk in. *It looked as though there were quite a few people inside, though. *I think they must have been practicing safe parking. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *<span style='font-size:7.006pt;line-height:100%'>as "Brisk" might say, "they parked their cars at their condoms!"</span>

Katy, have you seen the cruise ships that are being used as hotels? I think that was such a smashing idea! It looks as though the Jacksonville city council DOES think outside of the box. I wish I'd thought of that!!! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/clap.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad1.gif

When I said I was rooting for the Eagles to win I forgot to add because Jeff Thomason, former Packer is playing, too. Any of you who have been following the pre-game junk know about this. I have to tell you that Jeff was in Green Bay for many years and was well-liked and a good team player. I hated to see him leave. I'd love to see him make a spectacular catch (he's a tight end) and make a touchdown. You'd be able to hear me scream all the way to Jacksonville. He never made many touchdowns in Green Bay as he was mostly a utility player, but darn! what a tale he'd have to tell his children and grandchildren. (his little boy is only 3, I think).

Time to go see what's going on besides plumb foolishness.

Good to see you Stormy. Glad you're not just lurking around. Go sell those cars, babe!

Regarding the trivia. The questions were so hard that I just checked "all of the above" from the other comments. We are RED, RED, RED here for Senators and Reps and my locals are too. But we have a Dem Gov. that has to go. Hmmmm? Maybe I need to run for that. No, we have some good experience folks waiting in the Republican wings for that. I think I'll just work to get one of them elected. Kyle is up for re-election in 06 so I'll work for him. Immigration and Tax Reform and Social Security are my hot button issues for Domestic and the War on Terrorism for international. No surrendering of Sovereignty either.

By the way, have you seen the ad for FED-EX with the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pirate.gif I'd almost swear that is the one that roams the halls here except his parrot only has one head. Arrrg.

Trivia

1. What was the greatest single part of the State of the Union speech?
I believe it was when the President glared at those booing and groaning without missing a hitch. That was http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
2. Outside of your constituents, if you were a state candidate, whom do you think should be the single most important interest/issues group to meet with?
Definitely the Veterans groups and seniors.
3. In your state, how much does a candidate in your area need to realistically raise to run for your state legislature (and be competitive)?
Between .5M and 1.5M.
4. What is the most Republican area (city or county) in your entire state? Where does your own city or county rank?
Our City and County rate right at the top. Our rural areas are strongly Republican. Clark and Washoe County are the only Democrat strongholds.
5. What opportunities (if any) in the 2006 election is there to replace a vulnerable Democrat in your area with a Republican? What about a moderate or liberal Republican with a more conservative one?
Not much! I'd have to check a lot closer outside my area. We're pretty much OK till 2008.
6. Who will be the top 3 most important Cabinet members in a new position to the president the next few years?
I really only see Condie Rice at this time.
7. Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the most? Which retiring Cabinet member will be missed the least?
Ashcroft & Powell are the ones I think will be most missed, Maybe Thompson for the least.
8. Which team do you want to win the Superbowl today, who do you think will win it, or do you not care who wins?
The Philadelphia Eagles. The pundits say Patriots, but I believe in the Eagles resolve. Eagles by 3.

Can y’all believe that Ted the killer toad Kennedy said today that the Senate voted to go to war in Iraq but had no idea that we might encourage the Iraqi people to think about democracy before we pulled our troops out. The dems in the Senate thought that if we had to go into Iraq we would just crush the Iraqi army, take charge of the WMDs, catch Saddam and then leave the next day. Maybe http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teddy.gif didn’t expect us to even look for Saddam before we got out of there.

Yep, It takes at least that much, because there are so many people vying for the same office. We sometimes have as many as 6 people just running in the primary. The competition is real fierce. Plus, some candidates drive as much as as 200 miles to make a campaign appearance and that is just in a county race. Not very many towns here in Wyoming that have a population over 10,000 people. Casper and Cheyenne are the big cities. They both have less than 70.000 people in the whole town.

I skipped the Super Bowl halftime show, but the salute to the military in the pre-game show was excellent. Thanks for asking, OW--I was without one of my medications and never really connected the two until I realized that the time I ran out of medicine and the trouble started were almost simultaneous--finally got it about three days ago, began to feel like a human being yesterday and actually think I might live. Every year, a group of friends gather for a "SuperBowl Party" out here in the western desert. You ask if I watch the ads or the game? Would you believe, even though we have this party every year there are several of the women, I among them, who don't watch either. We celebrate because it is the last game and we won't have to hear the incessant drone of football games from our living rooms, family rooms or dens for several months.

And now I'll say good night and start looking forward to a new week.
