<span style='color:#B92C15 '><span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif Good Morning http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif </span></span>

<span style='color:navy'>Are you ready for some http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif I've made Stan's special inaugural blend. The president would be so envious. However, if he wants to stop by we'll brew a new pot just for him. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

There was a car bomb near the Australian Embassy in Baghdad last night. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yikes.gif

Are you ready for more inaugural events today? There will be a special brunch, a celebration of freedom on the Ellipse and several candelight dinners. Doesn't it sound like fun? Wish we could all go. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_bubbly.gif

One bit of good news concerns a federal court ruling that supporters of the president can reserve the best spots on the parade route and don't have to share them with protestors. The communist group ANSWER had sued to try to get the best spots. Probably thought they should stand on the Capitol steps. Cretins! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Hey! How about if ANSWER is given a spot next to the Australian Embassy in Baghdad. Works for me. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif

The anti-aircraft missile systems are up and 100 blocks of downtown DC will closed off. This would not be a good time for the governor of Kentucky to lose his bearings in the air. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/no.gif Not good at all.

Today was Kerry's first appearance in the Senate since he's been touring the world running down the president and the country. Of course he spent this first day running down Condi Rice. Were any of you watching the last 90 minutes or so? It was all Kerry. Nearly everyone else had gone. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

If he thinks badgering a woman 10 times smarter than him for the TV camera will help him win the next election he should wise up. What a dope. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/madgo.gif Maybe he can run with Barbara Boxer and be first http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Ok, let's enjoy the day and not let the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif spoil it. Anger is theirs. We won. Be happy. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Words of Wisdom: "I spent a little time in Europe recently, and I have one simple message: Get over it. Get over it. President Bush is our president for the next four years, so get over it and start to act in your interest, Europe," ~ Joe Biden, hmmm...didn't think he was that smart. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif of the Day: We went in to rescue Iraq from Saddam Hussein, now I think we have to rescue our policy from ourselves," ~ Sen. John Kerry, knew he wasn't smart. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Hi.

Hey Stormy, you have me concerned about not having a working heater. I hope you are bundled up at least. Use all the blankets, quilts and other covers you can get your hands on to keep warm.

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr class="standard"><td>Quote </td></tr><tr class="standard"><td class="QUOTE"> http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif of the day: We went in to rescue Iraq from Saddam Hussein, now I think we have to rescue our policy from ourselves," ~ Sen. Does this even make any sense? Somebody give me something to throw at him!

As he was trying to sound like a Senator yesterday, I did notice he was barely keeping his head up when boring the hell out of Condi with his meaningless lecture speach yesterday! Almost as if he was shameful of something. Maybe it was just me? Who cares right? "W" gets innaugurated tomorrow and that's all that matters.

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif Tonja, Katy, Billy, RIM, OhioBushSupporter and for some reason I just went blank........

Now I remember, Old Man, will you stash a couple of donut's for me? Dave will have been here and long gone already by the time I return, so I'd appreciate the stash-a-roo if you would please... http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif Thanks buddy.

Morning dearies,
*Well, my cold or whatever it was got worse and worse as the day progressed...to the point that I was worried that it might have been the flu! *But then, after a dinner of sloppy joes (about the only thing the hubs can make that doesn't involve a grill or MRE's), and a nyquil, and tuck into bed...such a sweet hubs....and I woke up a little sore in the throat, but basically better. *I can even laugh without going into a coughing fit tiday! *YIPPIEE!!! *But I did notice that hubs was coughing alot before he went to PT...he came home sore in the legs, but not coughing...I think he might have it, but unless he's near to the death bed, he won't go to sick call...this is from the man who broke his foot during PT, and continued to run that morning, went to work, and then 2 more days of PT on it, before it was finally so swollen that he couldn't get his boots on!!!! *Had to have surgery, and a little bone removed in the end!!!! *And *month home! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif *Which was mostly a yukky month, since he was pretty much bed ridden for 3 weeks of it...but then, we snuck off to Busch Gardens the weekend before he was due to return to work...LOL *Since he was still on crutches, and a military member, we got all kinds of special treatment, and it was a blast! *Anyway...before I really start to babble...

Basheva, if we could get oranges..... *LOL *Actually, this time of year we keep Clementines in the kitchen, and Rosie and I always have an afternoon snack of them...this year's crop from Spain was really nice...a little smaller than usual, but oh so sweeeeeet! *And mega juicy! *And the one's from Isreal were wonderful as always, but have to be eaten outside, as they are soooooo juicy! *It's impossible not to make a mess with them! *LOL *

I see the first survivor winner is a loser! *He failed to mention his winnings to the IRS!!!! *And also forgot to file the $300K that he received to co-host some radio show...so now, he could be facing 10 yrs in jail!!!! *PLUS $500K fine!!! *Shoulda just payed the taxes!!!! And he didn't think he'd get caught?http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif *He won the money on national TV!! *DUH!! * *here's the article (http://www.gopusa.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.pl?act=ST; f=25;t=18231;r=1;&#top)
Along the same crazy lines...a seeing eye dog at the Pistons-Magic game got confused about where the restrooms were during 1/2 time, and poo'ed on the court!!! *LOLOLOL *Must have been expressing his feelings on Basketball! *LOL *I'm not a basketball fan either... *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif * article link is here (http://www.gopusa.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.pl?act=ST; f=1;t=18232;r=1;&#top)
OK, off to read about the real news

John Kerry did it again. He says the elections were "faulty". He claims that "In Republican run precincts, Democrats had to wait 3, 5, 7, and as much as 11 hours to cast their ballots while Republicans, 10 minutes, in-out and on their way home." Same machines and everything.
Where does this guy come from? I can understand and he may be able to prove as much as 1-3 hours in some precincts, (Repub. and Dem. as well). But give me a break. I would like to see one person that had to wait in line for 11 hours to vote. The polls are only open, in most states, 12 hours. He is going to have to show me where anyone hit the polls at 7am and didn't vote till 6pm. (except for poll workers.) This has got to be another http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif OF THE DAY: type statement.
Hi pRIMrose & Im4atbrka. Saw you two in the hallway. Turn some lights on.

Good morning, all!

Okay, my goal for today is to be more mellow. No more high blood pressure over the Dims and their foolishness. Condi Rice is perfectly capable to taking them on and demolishing them while still showing the great dignity and class that her accusers lack.

I think the pod people have taken over Joe Biden's body and replaced him with someone who (occasionally) makes sense. At least he's able to face reality.

Kerry is a sore loser. That's the long and the short of it. He won't accept any of the responsibility for it (because it CAN'T be his fault!) , so it has to be someone else's fault. Like those evil http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rwbelephant.gif

Law, I saw a story about Richard Hatch in the paper this morning and has the same thoughts as you. The guy wins a million dollars and is all over the media and he doesn't report his winnings to the IRS? Doofus.

Just more proof that they still think they can say anything that pops in their head and people should believe them - let them keep thinking that!
I live in a mostly Republican precinct but doubt that has any effect on how many machines we have or how well they work. I stood in line for a two hours to vote and I am sure some Dems were there as long, but no longer!

Howdy Y'all!

Another day to take in all the celebrations and festivities surrounding the inauguration. I'm really pumped, and to show it, we're having lots and lots and lots of http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpgs, http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallchockk.jpgs, http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallsprinkles.jpgs, http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallcreams.jpgs, and http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smalljelly.jpgs to celebrate with...

...and a big bunch of http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpg holes for Danny to throw at Kerry on the TV. (Old habits are hard to break, aren't they?)

Folks, if you read the news about the Board of Directors at the real http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpg Korporation firing the CEO, don't fret. The virtual side of the http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpg operation continues. Our accounting sheets don't have to restated. We get 'em right the first time.

Tonight the Texas Society of Washington, DC, is puttin' on the Black Tie and Boots Ball to celebrate the President's inauguration. It's a mere $1,000 a ticket, so I had to turn down the invitation (insert tongue firmly into cheek here), but nothing says I can't wear my black boots to work today--so I did. Shined 'em up, too. Just a subtle little way of enjoying the victory.

Senator Kerry, a Vietnam veteran, had eight or nine months in the spotlight to learn the lesson about spouting off bovine stuff when it comes to foreign policy. Yesterday's show in front of the cameras proves he didn't do a good job of learning the lesson. But, his performance does give us more reason to be so very grateful to the American people and their political wisdom.

I'm rambling, so I'm going to go.

Later...

Won't go to the PA for nothing -- will go to work so sick he can hardly move, do PT and then crash on the couch in his office. (Good thing he's a 1SG sometimes) He says he's not going to go sit in a crowded clinic with other sick folks and get sicker and just have the PA tell him "take some motrin, drink plenty of fluids and get some bed rest" - something Dan says he's old enough to figure out by now! Men in the military must have been issued hard heads in basic training.
Well, I will admit that the PA's are pretty dumb...and the "well how much does it hurt on a scale of 1-10" is a joke...considering that my husband ran on a broken foot for 3 days, a sore throat isn't going to get a high rating from him...but that doesn't mean he's not contagious! DUH! Not to mention what about females who have had kids...Nothing but labor is going to get a 10 since 10 is supposed to be the worst pain ever felt! LOL Good thing neither of our guys are pvts...or they'd have their rears handed to them for their sickness tactics! LOLOL I've caught mine asleep in his office too! LOL

Happy Wednesay People!
It's a clear, crisp, pretty day here in northeast OK. And by golly, we're keeping it! But you can come here and enjoy it, too, if'n ya want to.

This just in: John Kerry - actuaries predict if he continues to talk that within the not too distant future, there's a 7% chance he might, maybe, could possibly actually "say" something of value. You may begin holding your breath........now.

Since this is my "brag on your kids" week....There are a lot of things my 17 year old son and his friends could be doing in the evening to pass the time. Many of those options are not good but I don't worry about him choosing one of those. Why not? Last night was a typical scenario. He and best friend went to a rock climbing gym for some exercise, then came home to study together for a test, and then - this is the fun part - asked several of us adults who'd just finished our own bible study to join them in a discussion of the pros and cons of infant baptism and whether or not we go straight to heaven when we pass or what really happens. It was fun and very interesting and educational and they were truly captured by God's wisdom. My son - future pastor, bold in his faith, and trusted by his dad when he walks out the door. Yes, I do sleep well, thanks. Why do you ask?

Okay, gotta run. God bless you one and all and always remember and never forget that it's not enough to have a plan - you have to make that plan happen for it to be of any value. Walk strong in your faith; trust in the Lord; follow His ways and you won't be able to help but live an exciting life. Keep smiling and maximize your day.

Good Morning All: Whew, its cold here in NC - woke up to 10.6 degrees. Its already up to 21 and is supposed to be up to the high 30s this afternoon.

Don't hit him to hard - part of what he said is correct. Years ago I was assigned to a precinct that was mostly black, ie., Democrats - they had four machines and three were for Dimocrats and one for Republicans. When we arrived to vote there was a very long line and a man asking your party affiliation. Being Republican we were sent to the single machine and were in and out in about 10 minutes. On leaving we noticed that most of the voters in the Dim line were right where they were when we went in. Oh, by the way, the precinct was being run by Dimocrats.

I have watched the Boxer/Rice conversation on FOX about 6 times. I know that it is only a repeat but I swear that Boxer sounds more stupid each time.

Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyone!

The more they re-play the Barbie diatribe the better it gets. The entire world gets to see a really nasty person in action. A "senator" with a very small "s" who sits on a very large "S".

Very lovely morning here and no one - I repeat no one - is going to spoil it for me. Sunshine, warm air, no clouds, and best of all.....

George W. Bush Will Be Sworn In As President Tomorrow

That's the important thing. BB is a speck of protoplasm on the nether regions of the body politic.

A few chores for me today, nothing I can't handle. Some gardening. Ballet class and a walk.

Finished that book: Last Jews of Cochin" - really really fascinating.

Now on to the bio of Teddy Roosevelt.

Another American with very large boots.

Mary Lou - sorry to hear about your migraine. Hope the sun shines for you really soon.

Thank you for your prayers. I'm still working on it, but it is getting better.

There is a special place in heaven reserved for the inventors of sumatripton succonate, the active ingredient in Imitrex. At $90.00 a dose, it's still a bargain. ( Luckily my dear doctor gives me some free samples every once in a while, and Glaxo sends me $10.00 coupons for filling out headache surveys, and with insurance, it only ends up costing $45.00 for nine pills. Still , worth their weight in platinum for what they do.)

Oh yes, it is true. It is a tradition in the heavily populated Democratic portions of major metro areas. The patriotic people leave their homes at midnight, 1 am etc. and gather outside their polling places to wait for it to open. They have a "blockhead" party and celebrate by "basking in the momemt" of hope their candidate will overcome truth and logic.

Sometimes celebrities from ACLU come to "entertain" with presentations of past disenfranchisement law suits and court rulings on religious restrictions. Then they do a group cheer when the doors open and begin their process of voting.

Of course the first in line get to vote first, but they still have to wait when they go to the next precinct to vote again with the provisional ballot.

So you see it is true about their long waits.

After all, we are only five years into the twenty-first, so indeed it would be the worst of the twenty first...so far. As for the twentieth century, well there were some things that topped the tsunami in terms of lives lost. WW1, WW2, The Communist attempt to take over the planet, Roe V Wade, etc. Maybe he meant the worst NATURAL disaster. The UNNATURAL disasters , to be brutally frank, outdo the natural ones nearly every time. Not to minimise the Tsunami, but newspeople are often given to hyperbole.

We better hope Yellowstone doesn't erupt. As one of the world's largest volcanos that laid 3 ft of ash down in Iowa the last time it erupted (before I was born) and is supposed to be 40,000 years overdue for another blast (but who's counting), a very large portion of the U.S. population would be destroyed.

Kind of makes you glad to know where you will spend eternity. I don't see any indication of it happening in the next few lifetimes, but I never put anything outside the power of God and if he felt this nation was drifting too far away from Him, this would be a good way to get our attention. On the positive side, I think the "silent" majority is taking us back in the right direction by speaking up this last election.

I'm just writing to let ya'll know that I am starting a new thread down in member topics. *I read many books. *I love to read...usually, I have 2 or 3 books going at a time (I've always read like that). *And I'm always looking for recommendations. *So, since I know some of the rest of you are mega-readers too, maybe we can run a thread of recommendations, and notes on books that are obnoxiously boring, or poorly writen, or just plain DUMB (perhaps a certain Dan Brown novel comes to mind?). *Anyway, I'm going down to share the 3 books I am currently reading (2 are re-reads). *Please join in! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

edited to add:

Here's the link to the book thread! here (http://www.gopusa.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.pl?act=ST; f=13;t=18245;r=1;&#top)

Hello all!!

Ooh...I have been a very bad girl today...oh yes I have.
Went to pay a bill at a shop just out of town. Not but one or two people in there.. but soon another guy came in. The lady whose son owns this place..started talking about the inaguration..I thought to myself...this should get good here in a minute. I was right!! The guy that came in behind me...says and Yes we are all paying for it...before I could stop my mouth...I said. NO sir, it is paid for with private donations...you have not spent a dime of your money on this. He sort of glared at me...but I stood my ground...and he never said another word. I also told him I was a Republican.... http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif I figured that would do him in.

I try to keep my mouth shut...but when someone who is not telling the truth..especially about the President...I cant stop it. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I hope you all have had a good day..Glad your migrane is gone Mary_lou. I had one...for about a week....and now I see what people are talking about. It is not fun!

Back later...TTFN

I had a headache once that I could best describe as feeling seasick and like I just left a movie theater all at once. I wanted to curl up in a dark place and I was too ookie to get there! The diagnosis was 'cluster headache' (not to be confused with cluster flock.)

...and there goes flower, standing up for the President again...

Over lunch I had to listen to MSNBC playing in the background.

Subject: exit polls.
Problem: Were the exit polls really as bad as we're told?
Analysis: the networks were too quick to report actual results. They should have waited until the effects of the exit polls could be felt before telling the public the real numbers.

Do these people really think we're all as stupid as they want us to be?

I am really REALY REALLY getting excited by tomorrow!!

I think I might even allow myself a KK donut (22 fat grams and all) to celebrate.

Well, virtually speaking of course.

But my celebratory feelings are not virtual - they are actual.

We have to learn to take our victories and enjoy them with mucho huzannahs.

If anyone out there is not in full celebratory mode, I invite you to go back and read the precinct for election day in November. It was, as I recall, well over 20 pages long.

It was full of nail bitng, incipient heart attacks, strokes, pins and needles, hanging on by finger nails, teeth grinding, jaw clenching, clenched fists and toes, brain tics, scalp tingling, nerve twitching ANGST.

Remember that? Remember how we prayed, yelled, screamed, carried on, hoped, clasped hands, rang bells, yipped and hollered with one another that day?

Well, here we are folks.......the inauguration we were so anxious about is here....tomorrow....

Not sure if I can find the site again but here is something to think about for the next time.
<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr class="standard"><td>Quote </td></tr><tr class="standard"><td class="QUOTE">Magma would be flung 50 kilometres into the atmosphere. One thousand cubic kilometres of lava would pour out of the volcano, enough to coat the whole of the USA with a layer 5 inches thick. The explosion would have a force 2,500 times that of Mount St. Helens. It would be the loudest noise heard by man for 75,000 years, the time of the last super volcano eruption. Within minutes of the eruption tens of thousands would be dead.
One of many sites on Yellowstone Volcano (http://armageddononline.tri pod.com/volcano.htm)

You realize if they are off by just 1,000 years, it won't matter much to several generations. If they are right, it won't matter much either since we can't do anything about it except be ready for the effects either directly or indirectly depending on where you live.More on damage an eruption would cause (http://www.rense.com/general41/yellowstoneupdate.ht m)
It sounds similar to what they said happened the last time, only there wasn't a society living in the area.

<span style='font-family:times'><span style='font-size:11pt;line-height:100%'>Terri, the Yellowstone volcano would totally wipe out all of Wyoming, the same way that Mt Vesuious wiped out Pompii. We would never know what hit us. We would instantly be under tons of hot ash and magma. The hot spot of the Yellowstone volcano is right at Norris Junction.

You guys down there in Colorado would get a least a few minutes warning, but not enough to save any lives. The scientists believe that is what caused the last ice age.

Pretty http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif -- even http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif er that they're celebrating a fellow Texan.

And for the No Tie and Slippers Ball going full tilt here in our esteemed precinct, let's bring in some more http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpgs, http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallchockk.jpgs, http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallsprinkles.jpgs, http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallcreams.jpgs, and http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smalljelly.jpgs to go with the grog. In fact it's a good night for Frou's favorite -- http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/m1helmet.gif Artillery Punch http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/m1helmet.gif . And in fine Field Artillery fashion:

Okay, I guess I just skimmed over that one...since I saw Der Alte's reply, and it didn't sound too indignant, I didn't figure the guy(?) had gotten too radical.

Now that I've gone back and read what was said...he does have a modicum of GALL alright...but I prefer to think he has just hit the Kool-Aid too hard. *Notice, he hasn't been back to reply...so, he probably used up all of his ammo on one cheeeeep shot.

Hi everyone. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif *

I am late arriving in here today. *Every morning, I check my e-mail and yesterday's post before work. *I didn't have time to check in here in this morning.

We have every right to celebrate this week. *We worked so hard during the campaign, so let's relax and enjoy the fun. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif

This place amazes me. The way comments trigger other comments, ideas, questions. I love you people. I was just reading comments to Yellowstone and a question about time and my reply about some scientists rethinkng some geological theories reminded me of a theory I had heard about oil being a renewable resource instead of a static reserve. I found the link or at least, a link about it and put it in my last comment on Yellowstone.

I have seen this happen in other threads as people "brainstorm" and come up with variations of the same topic or thoughts that veer completely into a new area. I am just beginning to realize the power of this forum. I wish our politicians in office would make this required reading.

Hi http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif ns! My server was down most of the day and I almost went http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif I'm glad it came back in the nick of time, though, because one of the ladies on the exec. comm. board called to bawl me out about something that was in the newsletter. It's just something she just now saw because it's a notice at the bottom of the Lincoln Day dinner ad that's been there for at least 3 years and she just never noticed it. But then I heard one of our new members is on http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cloud9.gif because her picture was in the newsletter so that made it all better. There, there!

I'm staying in Appleton tomorrow night with one of my buds because of the Inaugural celebration. Should be fun. And I don't have to worry about http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ssnoman.gif on the way home. I've also discovered it isn't terrific fun driving the truck in a long dress and heels.

I was sent one of those "Not one d@m**d Dime e-mails by a friend who is so naive she said she though the $40 million should be used for tsunami relief, too. SO, I replied in a lengthy e-mail about the whole situation. Sure hope I've put her little mind at rest. That seems to be my raison d'etre.

Speaking of the French http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif I hear they're blackmailing the Thai people into buying 3 of their new Airbuses. Are the English in on those, too, or is that a joint Euro effort? What a bunch of whale $h]t http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pirate.gif s!! They're going to get their hands on our money no matter how they do it.

Katy, you're right. I plan to kick up my heels in grand style tomorrow night. Just hope I can mange to kick them up higher than my ankle. Or ............. on second thought, maybe not. I'd probably just kick myself in the ankle!

Finally got a thank you from the prez last week. It sounded a little uncertain, though. Maybe they're not too sure about sending a thank you to a Mr. Char. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I lied. It actually came to Ms. Char. Floored me!

Termind, Termind, Termind! That's what I like my donuts stuffed with ----- thickened artillery punch. YOu make it the real way with gunpowder in it, don't you? Oh goody!! Oh happy day! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happydance.gif

I've just made up my mind that there's to be no volcano erupting at Yellowstone, and you know how stubborn I am!! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif So you can say all the prayers you want, Terri, but you don't have to worry about the eruption because there's not going to be one!!

Time to mosey around in the forum.

The Grand Tetons (http://www.winona.msus.edu/geology/travels/tetons/travel.html)which are next to Yellowstone have a much different history, but, who's to say the forces that caused one aren't related to other geology of the area. Just think this whole area was underwater and part the Western Interior Seaway. Do a search on that name and you will find maps that show how much of the U.S. was under water at one time.

Where I lived in Easter Az. was part of the shoreline at times of this huge seaway. I found all kinds of shell fossils and some are on display in the Chamber of Commerce office in Springerville, Az.

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Ok, made it back for a bit. Let's see... http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/HB.gif to everyone who had one since Friday. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I will check out the Precinct since then tomorrow, hopefully.

The trip was a blast. The weather was cold (well, for Floridians). It got down to 0 with the wind chill on Sunday night/Monday morning *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif , and the static temps were in the high 20s/low 30s much of the weekend. We were on board the USS Yorktown, CV-10 in Patriot's Point, SC, which is the harbor area (Mt. Pleasant) of Charleston. We slept aboard the aricraft carrier Saturday & Sunday nights, in crew's quarters. We ate on board for breakfast Sunday through breakfast Monday morning. We ate at Melvyn's famous Charleston barbecue Saturday night. It was good. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

The USS Yorktown is now laid out as a museum. Various decks have tours you go on, and to do all 6 could literally take a whole day. The Yorktown was instrumental in WWII, particularly in the Battle of Midway. The carrier was featured in 2 movies, one, the Oscar winning "The Fighting Lady", and the other, better-known, Tora, Tora, Tora. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I hope the boys learned a lot. Some of the original planes were on the flight deck, with the entry and most of the exhibits on the hangar deck. They had preserved famous planes of various types, from bombers, to F-14s, hellcats, and others, even a replica of the Apollo 7 space capsule (because the Yorktown also was the ship that rescued the capsule at sea), and a replica of the original Wright brothers aircraft. The hangar deck also had a Congressional Medal of Honor museum, very well done. In addition to the many parts of the Yorktown itself, there was also three other vessels available for walking tours at the port, including the last diesel-powered submarine (the SS Clamagore), a Coast Guard Cutter, and a Destroyer (USS Laffey, which survived 5 kamikaze direct hits and 3 bombs dropped on it). Very http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif . The boys earned about 2/3 of their Aviation merit badge, as well as the Historic Trails award. We got back late Monday afternoon.

I had my series of meetings the past 2 days, including the Peace River Valley Citrus Growers' Association Board meeting, and the Joshua Water Control District meetings yesterday, and an all-day Citrus Commission meeting in Lakeland today. Of course, that's no excuse for not reporting in. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

The scout meeting went well tonight. We had a Webelos den as our guests and the boys in the troop gave demonstrations on knots/lashings, first aid, and fire building. Hopefully, some of the 2nd year Webelos will be interested in coming into our troop at the end of February http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif . Another trip coming up is to Kennedy Space Center in March.

Tomorrow early morning, I am meeting movers to get that desk (still at Meryl's friends' house) to my office in Arcadia. I also registered for the Florida YRs quarterly meeting in February, volunteered to lobby in DC for 2 days with representatives of the Citrus Industry March 2 & 3, signed up for the Campaign Seminar put on by Campaigns & Elections magazine (the one promoted at the GOPUSA conference) in June, and a few other meetings/excursions. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

The President made Texas look pretty good--likewise, Texas made the President.

A little inside knowledge for those of you who watched. The crowd sang a rendition of I've Been Working on the Railroad thinking that is the state song. WRONG! The state song is Texas, Our Texas.

You may also have noticed some people in the crowd raised their hands like their middle and ring fingers had been cut off. That's a really hokie hand signal. The President was appropriately diplomatic by showing his hand signal of the index, middle, and ring fingers signifying "W". That way he doesn't lose us Aggie voters.

Just inside stuff, that's all.

Charie...whenever I have to drive while wearing heels, or even good dressy-ish shoes, I take along a pair of my regular walking shoes and wear them for driving.

I refuse to drive in heels. And driving really ruins a nice paid of shoes anyway.

And, if something should happen and I end up having to walk, like to a phone or something, I don't want to be in heels.

I keep mentioning about celebrations because I think when a group has been in the wilderness for so long (40 years out of the majority in congress) it is possible to forget to enjoy victory.

Enjoy victory.

Hey Viejo! (Old Man)

Your post about Yellowstone reminded me of when Mount St. Helen's blew its stack in 1980 or 1981...can't remember which. At any rate, here I was growing up in Iowa. I was either a senior in high school or a freshmen in college. About 48 hours after it blew, I recall going out to my car -- a fire engine red 1973 AMC Javelin (FYI)-- and noticed a fine patina of dust all over my car. I took a pinch of this fine powdery substance off my car and marvelled at nature's fury. Imagine! A volcano blowing up a thousand miles away and depositing ash on MY car. As I continued to marvel at nature's power, I turned my head up to notice that the fleet of earthmoving equipment was still hard a work about 3 football field away, converting a farm field into something that could be built on. My mind dredged up this thought: Boy...they're....sur e kicking up a LOT of......dust. Oh....no....I'm not just UGLY....I'm STUPID TOO!! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bawl.gif

You guys are talking about some of my stomping grounds.

The Grand Tetons are well known for it seismic activity. I have personally expeirenced several tremors in the area. The main fault line runs just to the west of the Snake River. The was even one near Mackay Idaho in 1983, the did some major damage.

The area know as Quake Lake in Southwestern Montana, near the town of West Yellowstone is also a big seismic area.
