Welcome! *Are you ready for a tremendous Tuesday? I am. Let's start it off with some nice strong hot http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif full of Stan's secret ingredient. *Wonder what this stuff does. If I ever find out I may have to cut back on some folk's consumption. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Very interesting findings of the panel who investigated the CBS News debacle. In spite of issuing a report full of condemation and the firing of 4 people they managed to clear the boss and the very biased Dan Rather. In my opinion, no one should ever trust CBS News again. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/it.gif

I don't think we've seen anything yet from the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif *They plan to investigate hangnails from now until they regain power. Funny that they don't realize that will probably keep them out of power until they quit obstructing. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif

According to Gallup the president's approval rating has risen to 52%. Don't you know that must really chap the hide of the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

Columnist Jack Kelly predicts that the president will appoint the first Black Chief Justice (Clarence Thomas) and the first Black female justice in the person of Janice Rogers Brown whom he describes as, "Condoleezza Rice with a law degree. She is a bright, articulate, black woman who accomplished much despite growing up in the segregated South. No one can call her unqualified on the basis of her resume." *Works for me. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Really bad weather in the west. Very scary when the hillsides start letting go. We have mudslides in areas of Colorado but we're even more prone to avalanches. We've had a lot of snow lately in the mountains. Of course it's nothing to compare with the California snows but we have had numerous avalanches including some across major highways. Cars were trapped by one on Monarch Pass, although not in it. It was 15' deep across a 3 lane highway. It really pays to be careful in snow country. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ssnoman.gif

North Korea has banned long hair on men because it "consumes a great deal of nutrition" and could thus rob the brain of energy. *That explains a lot, actually. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

Words of Wisdom: "These problems were caused primarily by a myopic zeal to be the first news organization to broadcast what was believed to be a new story about President Bush’s TexANG service, and the rigid and blind defense of the segment after it aired despite numerous indications of its shortcomings." ~ Report on CBS News

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif of the Day: "I moved into the White House and I became a part of the internal workings of the Carter administration. That precedent has been sustained throughout all the later vice presidents, which has made the office more important." *~ Walter Mondale, bragging he was good for something. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

God Bless our great country. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif *May Freedom ever ring!

Me thinks the real reason for the hair standard is Kim Jong Poop (or whatever his name is) doesn't want competition in the chia hair department.

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif GOOD MORNING U.S.A. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif

34F here in Winnemucca, still snowing lightly, should have 2-3 more inches by daylight. Wow! Tahoe has 19' of snow.
Donner Pass has more than 14'. This ain't inches people, but FEET. The Left Coast has more water than they can maintain. Flooding, houses gone, Mud flowing like water. As a matter of fact, houses flowing like water.

Lord help these people. Sow your kindness on them, deliver them from danger. Amen

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bible.gif 1Peter 2:13-18 http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bible.gif
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

Good Morning on this fine Tuesday! http://www.fancysplace.com/smileys/smilies0991.gif

OMG! I'm hearing Jimmy the Peanut expound his dubious wisdom on the early morning edition of Hardball. And I haven't even had my first cup of http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif yet. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/^/aiw/help.gif

My heart goes out to those in CA who are losing their homes to the mudslides. I can certainly relate. It doesn't matter how expensive your home is, when it is destroyed you are devastated. I lived in LA the first ten years of my life and remember the earth tremors. Very scary. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif We have a similar situation here in Florida with people who persist in building expensive homes in areas that are known to flood from time to time. Hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes can hit people anywhere they build ~ but IMO it isn't wise to build on a floodplain or the sides of mountains that are notorious for collapsing in torrential rains. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif

Good morning from somewhat foggy Jacksonville, Florida. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif *The http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif is going to be out very soon. *

This morning, I woke up and headed to the Y before it opened at 5:00. *It felt so good. *I worked out the liberals out until they said "mommy". http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

Why didn't CBS fire Dan Blather Teflon Blather? *They can't see he didn't do anything wrong? *Give me a break! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banghead.gif *CBS says they are going to be a fair and balanced news station. *Until, they make changes to their evening news and 60 minutes, I will never watch anything from that station again except for sports. *

I am not going to watch Survivor anymore in protest. *The last Survivor was very poor. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsdown.gif *They used a lot of dirty language on the last one.

Walter Mondale wasn't even elected to the White House. *Do we need to send him a telegram to remind him?

Barbers in North Korea must need the business.

Good Morning All: Awoke to another beautiful day - the temp was at 37 degrees but is supposed to be in the mid 60s later today. We are due to return to winter on Friday. This stretch of 60 and 70 degree weather has been welcomed by my heat pump. We will probably be looking at an increase in electric rates since they lost money for the last few weeks http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Peanut Carter looked like he was in the right place with the Palestinians. He couldn't say enough good things about them. Wonder how he would feel if the blew up his peanut fields?

A busy day ahead of us - we took one of our dogs in for treatment last night. He has hurt his leg or hip and the doctor will x-ray him this morning. We are hoping its nothing serious - he is almost 10 and weighs in at 90 pounds.

Teflon Rather apparantly got away with it again, but CBS has lost it all by not canning him. An apology to Bush and firing Dan Blather would have really helped CBS.

Have a great day.

Good morning, All,
Happy Tuesday to each of you and greetings from "The Heartland" - Oklahoma.

I see the scapegoat collective gave up their sacrificial lambs to the alter of continued deception. CBS let the guilty go free and save face while the underlings and one talking head go away in a flurry of excuses and cover up. No wonder I never watch the CBS news.

Mondale.... see there? Time doesn't always heal all things...

I like that North Korean excuse for shorter hair on men. I'm gonna use that one on my son and see if it works! hahahahahahahahahaha sheesh.

Well, gotta run. Y'all have a blessed day and don't forget that this day was created just for you by God Almighty so that you can put to use all the gifts He gave you to help make your home, your office, your community, your state, and your country a better place to live. May God, with His infinite love and mercy, watch over you, lead you, and impart His wisdom to you today. Keep smiling and maximize your day!

Charlie just reported a minister died in the pulpit as he was saying, "When I die I'll go to heaven....." *Medical people in the congregation tried to revive him but he was probably dead before he hit the floor.

Time to get ready to go to the big town. *Have to take in a few pix for the newsletter. *I did a whole page on the collection we did for the troops. *I received an e-mail (forwarded by his mother) from one of the troops thanking us for sending the boxes and enclosing a picture of the whole platoon. *That just spun off a whole page. *Hey! *I'm such an idiot! *I could send that page to Terri and she can re-size it for me. Then those of you who took one of the names to write to can at least see your guy even though I don't have a list that matches names and faces.

Terri, it did a weird thing. *It was one of those huge pix but at the end it sized itself to about a 4x6 pic. I don't know how that translates into pixels.
Buh-bye! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

Rain

Rain

Rain

That's what it did all night and that's what it's still doing. *

oh yes....

Good Morning Everyone!

We have two little pumps going in a corner of our yard which tends to flood a bit - but it's not at all keeping up. *This house has been here for 50 plus years, and has seen many a rain storm, so at least its history is on our side.

I haven't turned on the news yet, but I know what's coming. *Mudslides in places where there are always mud slides. *Houses coming down in places where they were never meant to be built.

Pollution all up and down the coast because Mexico doesn't process their sewage. *Did you know that we process a great deal of their sewage, but it's just not enough - cuz there's a huge population down there.

Library morning for me.....it will be interesting to see how many roof leaks there are. *Hopefully I can walk today in between the rain drops. *I should be able to do that, just a jeté or two.

I am reading this extremely interesting book called: "The Last Jews of Cochin." *It's about a very old (VERY OLD - pre-Christ) community of Jews in India. *Then the Christians came and the two communities lived side by side. *They are still there, except many of the Jews eventually went to Israel. *

Anyway, it's really really interesting.

Just received notice that another article of mine was published - that's three for this month.

Another - a big one - is due to be published next month. *Was just informed of that too. *So, it's been a productive and satisfying morning professionally speaking.

Hope everyone is having a productive and satisfying day!

GOOD MORNING, YA'LL

Just heard our local talk show interview Michael Medved (a conservative talk show host) and author of "Right Turns". He said when he went to Yale, the main theme there was not to turn out like John Kerry! He said, even in college, he was a pompous http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif and talked to everyone like he was talking to a bleacher full of people! Was so disgusting! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif

My grandson went to take a test yesterday to go into the USAF. I'll certainly hate to see him leave the area and I don't know yet how he did on the test, but since he's pretty sharp (not because he's my grandson-he just is), so I'm hoping he did well! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif

Supposed to be back down in the 20s and 30s later this week--I told ya'll yesterday that the high temps would change--we have all 4 seasons--we just never know when they'll be! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Jeffie, SO GOOD to see you posting again--you give us all a lift with your blessings on us from the Almighty, of course! I'd still like to know where that other Okie is keeping himself--reckon I better call him and make sure HE's OK!!

Ya'll know what I did yesterday--twice I picked up my walker and walked to the kitchen and back---still too chicken to leave it behind, but it's certainly good to know that I am going to be able to walk by myself!! Of course, I may have overdone it just a bit, but once the new wears off of the day and my hip feels a little stronger, I'll try it again! For those of you who may think PRAYER DOESN'T WORK--Believe me, it DOES!! THANK you ALL so much!!! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif

GR, we're thinking of you today!

Ya'll have a great day!!

Hi Terri and Rev.

pRIM I experienced my first earthquake about a year ago and loved it. The hallway rolled up and down for about three seconds and my poor cat just froze with all her hair and appendages sticking out in every direction. I did feel sorry for her though.

Happy B'day dirtdart and have an extra donut since it's your birthday if there are any left.

DA - hope your puppy is okay and Jeff, thanks for the reminder and daily prayer.

Howdy to Katy J., flowerpower, bigdog and MaryLou.

"Maggots through a porcupine"? What a great line Charie. If you still have one left, could you send me one of the names by P.M.? Thanks.

Congratulation on publishing more articles Basheva, awesome! Who is the author of "The Last Jews of Cochin", is that a new book or an older one?

Hi Old Man.

Stormy, keep pushing that walker. My MIL has learned to really truck with hers and loves it. Hers has wheels and a little seat she can sit on when she gets tired.

Everybody have a happy day - I have to go to work shortly, so will go review the forum.

I guess I got long winded this morning and hope I didn't forget anyone.

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/str.gif Different strokes for different folks efildrah http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yikes.gif It's burned into my mind like it was yesterday. When I was about 8 or 9 years old there was a quake in Santa Monica. After things settled down we went out to look around. There was a big amusement park on the beach and we walked out on one of the boardwalks where the merry-go-round had been. All that was left was a huge hole in the pier and this eerie looking merry-go-round under the water beneath the pier. Nope! I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. I really haven't had any time to even know what's been happening in the world.

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. I just haven't had the time to read all that has been happening here in the precinct.

I had to go to the big city last Friday and run errands for the church. I spent all day Saturday in front of my computer creating a video of my son and his bride as they grew up. We will show this at the beginning of the wedding. The rest of the time has been spent with church activities, tutoring and getting all the last minute wedding details tied up.

Being the father of the groom has been trying to say the least. I can't imagine being the father of the bride. The biggest problem has been trying to make all the arrangements long distance and depending on a love sick son to answer his cell phone when I need some information.

My son works for Fairfield resorts in Branson and he and his fellow workers have used their "points" to get us two-bedroom suites to stay in. We only have to pay $37 a night. He finally got around to getting the 6 suites reserved just yesterday. Talk about sweating BB's. 5 of those suites are for my family members. And to make matters more complicated the weather for this weekend is looking really dicey.

I have three daughters and I told them today at lunch that when they get married we (their parents) had better be living where the wedding will take place!

I will try to pop back in every now and then. I just want you to know that I haven't forgotten you!

The site rates it on three things . . . Sex/Nudity . . . Violence/Gore . . . Profanity. Then it has a description under each topic. It will come in so handy to look up any new or older movie before I buy a tape or dvd. Didn't see Sideways on there, Basheva . . . but Ocean's Twelve (which is showing in theaters now too was on there http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ne_nau.gif

Hey Musicman, I pray the wedding goes well Brother. Both my daughters were married close to the hometown. *My 2 sons that are married were married cross country. (Maryland and Florida) Close to home is better. Weddings are great, the prep can be harrowing. *Good fortune to ya.

Still snowing, our picnic table says 1'8" in the last week. *High today is 32F and the low tonight is supposed to be 32F. *The snow is insulating against increases or decreases in temp.
I left Chicago and my wife Vicky left Riverton, WY to get away from this white stuff. *Go figure.

We really need to pray for those folks in Alaska that lost their powerplant with a temp of -40F and a windchill of -70F. *It's been difficult even trying to get air support. *Everyone in the small town I guess have gathered into the community center to try to keep warm with propane heaters and wood stoves. *
Lord help these good folks to survive the freezing hardship. Amen.

Well gotta pick the wife up from the Gym. She refuses to drive in this stuff. Take care all and God Bless

I have one like that too. I have a big conference coming up in May and it's in Los Angeles. A place I will not drive.

The dear man didn't wait for me to ask him - he volunteered to drive me. This is really very generous since I will be involved with a conference for four days which means he's going to have to be sitting around a hotel by himself.

I am really quite excited about this and looking forward to it. But, I knew I wouldn't go if I had to drive. No way, LA.

I am nine years younger than my husband. However, he is a LOT braver than I am. I also have a problem with any type of long distance driving - I fall asleep. Not for the entire way, but some of the way. This is not a good thing while driving.

Chick talk....guys ignore...you'll be bored to death...(of course the ladies might be too)

I just finished using up all the bits and pieces of yarn that people have been giving me. I make them into caps for new borns at the hospital. I've made over 30 of them since the end of November.

Now, my next project is to crochet a shawl. Actually it's a remake. I made myself a black shawl about 30 years ago and have just loved it to death. It's been around the world with me - a pillow in an airplane, a robe over a nighty, or a glamorous black shawl with an evening dress. It's a huge triangle with long long thick fringes.

Basheva <---------fringe freak

But, as much as I adore this shawl it's getting a bit ratty and I need to replace it. The problem is to figure out how I made it all those years ago and duplicate it.

At first I thought, since it's a triangle, that I would start from the long edge and decrease sequentially until I reach 0. But upon second thought, it's probably better to start with 0 and increase sequentially until it is the size I want.

Seems more logial. Sometimes I am logical - it's rare - but it does happen.

So, that's the next project. The old shawl is very large - head to toe and wraps around and around, so this should keep me busy for some time.

And outta trouble.

Yeh, sure.

Okay guys - you can peek now.

I'm finally back and tuesday is just about over. Christianity Today's website has *a LOT of info on movies. Not only to they tell you the Sex Gore and Languange content, but also religious , occult, adult situations, drug and alcohal references, etc. Even something like harry potter has incantations, spells and, potions which might not be to your liking. i find that all these are conveyed in a non-judgemental manner so you can make your own decisions. Often times in these movies, there might be no sex or violence, but they might show a religious person in a negative manner, or show "majic" as a way of problem solving. At least you know in advance what to expect. BTW, they Loved "The Incredibles". I read the reviews of "The Passion" on this site before i went to see it, so i was well prepared for some of the unexpected scenes (like the uggy baby in satans arms, the crow doing his thing to the bad thief, etc) It didn't lessen the impact of the movie to be prepared in advance. Dr. James Dobson talks about movies on his site too. One does not have to be a Christian to benefit from these reviews, as one of the regular reviewers is Michael Medved. Anyway, I've saved a lot of $$ reading these well thought out and meticulous reviews, especially of the kid's movies.

Yesterday was a typically busy Monday, not even time to turn on the computer all day. Monday night I heard a lecture by Pam Stenzel sponsored by 2 right-to-life groups. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif I ran by Matt's this morning to update on campaign stuff, and give him his name tag (which I made him swear to wear constantly) http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif . Tomorrow morning, I am headed to a FL Citrus Production Managers' Assoc. meeting near Sebring.

The campaign is coming along nicely. I set up a meeting in a few weeks with the E.D. of our local County Medical Society to get briefed on the medical community's issues in our area. Ohio Woman - what a great site! Thank you very much! The shawl they show under "Triangle Shawl" is about half the size of the one I am duplicating. Mine is literally from head to toe.

I started it - I am on row 6. The trick was to get it started, but after that's it's easy.

My problem is that I invent things as I go along and therefore, I don't have instructions to go back to when THIRTY YEARS later I want to do it again.

However, considering the age at which I am now, I don't think I will be doing this THIRTY YEARS from now.

But, I really liked that site - lots of great ideas.

Laurie....I would love to claim credit for making those new born caps. The truth is I love to keep my fingers busy and the family's drawers and closets are stuffed with afghans, sweaters, socks, shawls, kitchen wipe up cloths, etc.

Which reminds me....that's what I am giving next year for Christmas. This year I made four HUGE afghans for special friends. Next year I am going to make them each 6 kitchen wipe up cloths. That's what I use myself - made out of cotton yarn. They are so much better than anything I have ever bought. Last for years, absorbent, tough but not scratchy, just the right size, wash beautifully, etc.

It's not a glamorous gift but very useful.

By the way, one of the friends that I gave the afghan to this Christmas was just in the hospital with pneumonia. She told me she went to the ER all wrapped up in the afghan - she just loves it. And so did all the nurses. I thought it was really nice that she liked it enough to take it with her to the hosptial. Kind of like the Linus Project blankies we make for the kids.

We all have times when we need a blankie. I know I do.

Leave a little room near the end of the shawl for a couple feet of yarn from the old shawl. Then you'll always have a little of it with you in the new one and it will make the new one seem like an "old friend" right from the get go. If it is a different color people will ask about it and it would be a good way to make new friends.

Basheva, I'm glad you liked the site. I used to crochet - I made some afghans that I gave away - but it's been so long now that I've forgotten how to do it! I'd like to get started again. I never made an afghan for me and I know my kids would like them, too. I still have the hooks, but I'll have to get some basic instructions and practice before I tackle anything big. I hope it'll come back to me once I get started.

Mary-Lou, the Christianity Today site looks good. I know I can't rely on my local paper for any meaningful help regarding movies. They like Michael Moore's garbage, so they have no credibility with me.

CBiaS News is last in the ratings among the "Big 3" and they hoped that the phony 60 Minutes piece would boost their ratings. They gambled, they lied, they got caught. Just because the staffers left their Kerry-Edwards buttons at home doesn't mean they didn't have an agenda.

Kosher, ah yes.

Reminds of the part I am playing in the skit to show the congregation how much fun drama can be in doing the Lord's work. We are trying to stir up interest and get enough for an Easter Contada with some Drama in it. In the skit I am a Jewish Grandfather convincing his Granddaughter to be in a school play. I like it because I get to use my Jewish accent (one of several accents I use when I tell stories to make a point if I am doing a lecture).

And, thanks, I will have another donut and off to bed. I have to get up early and go with a gentleman from the Church who does a prison ministry I thought I might help with. If I'm not back by tomorrow afternoon than that probably means they kept me in jail. Just think if we ever had to stand trial for our thoughts, oh we do don't we. But, at least we will have "Counsel" that will tell the Judge we've been "found innocent."
