Teachers harassing soldiers' kids
WorldNet Daily
February 26, 2003
Public-school teachers in Maine – at least 12 of them – have told children of recently called-up National Guard members that any attack on Iraq would be illegal and immoral, thus insinuating that the students' parents are equally immoral, according to reports by local Guard personnel.
WABI-TV in Bangor, Maine, first reported Friday that family members of two National Guard units recently deployed reported to the Guard's Family Assistance Program that teachers were making harassing comments to their children. The assistance program is designed to help families of Guard members who are called to active duty with information about various programs that can help them during deployments.

Laurie, the first two words of your post tell it all. You must be part of the Great Right Wing Conspiracy - aren't we all?

:angry:I agree with Ipara. *They should be immediately fired. *Also there appears to be some child abuse issues here. *This should be investigated and appropriate charges brought against these teachers. *To subject school children to this harassment is disgraceful.

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif You are absolutely right , Fired Immediately is actually too good for them. I had just read the full story from a different e-mail I get and it only shows what is happening in our schools today. If it isn't a communist plot I don't know what it is. I read yesterday about what some of the colleges are teaching that they call history and it has nothing to do with history. One of the subjects they listed as history was a class that had to do with sex. It was called something like "Myself Alone/Sex Alone" . What has that to do with history?

<span style='font-family:comic sans ms'>I wish there was something we could do to change the whole of the academia world today. I have no hope for it. I hope conservative parents have a place to send their children when they reach college age or they ground them really well in the fundamental issues of life before they send them off to embark in the world of "intelligentsia. I am a teacher, what would happen to me and my job if I pulled the same trick in reverse?

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif To: bb. So you are a teacher. Are you made or asked to do what these teachers have done? I don't know. I know if it were me and I was asked or told to do something like that , I would be looking for another job the next day as I am sure the powers that be would not be happy with what I would tell them. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Just to let you know it isn't that way everywhere, I'm going to post the statement of our school district superintendent. It appeared in our local weekly yesterday.
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">As an unprecedented number of soldiers are being deployed overseas from Ft. Carson, I speak for all of Widefield School District 3 in saying that our thoughts and prayers are with all the women and men who serve with pride in our armed forces.
For those of you soldiers who have children in our schools, rest assured that our staff members - teachers, principals, custodians, counselors, secretaries and everyone else who works with your children - will do all they can to help support your children's lives. Your children spend a good portion of their day in school, so it's our job to make sure they do the best they can while their fathers or mothers are sent elsewhere to do their important jobs.
I've said this many times: If we are not doing a good job with our military students, we are not doing a good job.
<span id='postcolor'>
[He then gives some statistics of the numbers of military students in the district.]
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">If you have any questions or feel your child may need special attention while you are away doing your duty for our country, please call your child's school. As always, we will do everything in our power to maximize the learning of your children in a safe and caring environment.
In the meantime, please know that we are proud of you and wish you Godspeed and a safe return home.
<span id='postcolor'>

[B]Just because a teacher holds the title "teacher" does not mean they have the ability or knowledge to teach. Teachers have no right harassing any of the children within a class or school of the teachers own beliefs. It is merely an opinion and all teachers should understand although we are all entitled to our own opinion, that does not mean that any of the opinions are neccessarily right or wrong, that we are all entitled to our own. With that said- They should not bully or harass anyone that is unable to speak his/her own thoughts on a matter. Teachers of Maine should be held accountable for their actions regarding their wrong doings with their dictatorship. They may want to READ the following, if they still realize they may learn something: ]http://www.globalethics.org /[U] (http://www.globalethics.org /[U)

These people are complete failures as teachers, abusive to the children they are teaching and have no business in the trusted position of educating anyone. *The whole educational system today is in need of a complete restructuring. *They are telling us that our children are not learning anymore today than they were 20 years ago. *We really need to take a very close look at what is actually being taught in the schools.

I would be happy if they were learning at least as much as we did 50 years ago. Sadly, they are not!
The rest of you old coots will understand what I mean by that!

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif Tenure or anything else be damned, fire these idiots immediately. This is Child Abuse of the most heinous design.
In the first place the children in question have had no part in their parents chosen profession, nor have they any power to change it. *They are Children!
Secondly, this amounts to an abuse of taxpayers monies, to editorialize anything.
Lastly, former Sec'y of Education said last night, all that is required is for a couple (or more) of parents to get together and institute a Class Action Lawsuit naming these teachers and their superiors as defendants. *Then policy allowing this sort of thing would change swiftly.
Let me say, I am no fan of these type of lawsuits. *But if they can work against us, then why not for us?
God Bless the USA, her President, and ALL the members of our Armed Forces wherever they serve.

I saw that on yahoo one of their main articles was about whats been going on in Maine. "After complaints that the children of soldiers were upset by anti-war comments at school, Maine's top education official warned teachers to be careful of what they say in class about a possible invasion of Iraq." Just from the start of the article.
