President Schwarzenegger?

"Yes, absolutely (I would like to be eligible to run for president). Why not? With my way of thinking, you always shoot for the top."
Arnold Schwarzenegger

(CBS) Remember the political fuss just a year ago when a sitting governor was told by the electorate to take a hike and in true Hollywood fashion the people's choice to replace him was: "The Terminator," Arnold Schwarzenegger?

The Governator, as many now call him, went in 12 months from something of a joke to a major player in the Republican party. His easy win in the recall election and his handling of California’s fiscal crisis so far, put him on center stage and prime time at the party’s convention. This past week, he was out campaigning with the president.

Yes! He probably thinks it will happen. Little does he know, that outside of the fictional world of Hollyweird, he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell!

I do not want this to happen. What's to keep the George Sorossssssss' from becoming president, or terrorists that live perfectly peacable lives here for however many years and then become president of AMERICA. The people promoting this are brain-dead or have lost their discernment. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ne_nau.gif

Good call Ipara. The founding fathers knew a lot more about government than any of our politicians today and they realized that a non-natural born citizen would have conflicts of interest, as well as potentially subvert the country. If you aren't born American... sorry, that's just the way it goes.

I'd be in favor of an amendment that makes it so you have to be a 3rd generation American, so that some nitwit can't come here to have a child and in 35 years, plan for him/her to run for president so they can take over the country.

As far as I'm concerned, he shouldn't even be eligible to run for Governor. I think Arnold has his interests at heart --- not America's!

NO! NO! NO! ~ A thousand times NO!

The forefathers knew what they were doing when they said natural born American citizen.

For all of the reasons above, I totally agree ~ NO Constitutional Amendment for one man, who may or may not be elected, and which would open Pandora's Box big time. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif

Don't worry about Arnold becoming President; it won't happen. I like Arnold, and I think he would be the first to tell anyone that he is "ambitious." Back in his days of bodybuilding competition, that was one of the complaints other bodybuilders had about Arnold, that he was "too ambitious."

But I have to admire the kind of drive that Arnold has. Everything he has done has been done in a very "focused" way. I have always thought Arnold would go into politics. And that's "ok" with me. I even see the humor in the California people electing "The Terminator" as their governor. But that doesn't mean is was the wrong thing to do! He will do a good job if it is humanly possible.

BUT.......I am against amending the Constitution to allow a foreign-born person to become President. I don't think the American people would "go for it" if it were put to a vote. You can't blame Arnold for "hoping," but I believe this is the point at which his ambition will not be fulfilled. That's just the way it is.
And I don't think Arnold really thinks we would amend the Constitution on his behalf.

IF Arnold COULD be elected President, can you just imagine what the Europeans and others who call President Bush a "cowboy" would be thinking about "The Terminator" being President?

But........in my opinion, almost anyone would make a better President than the candidates the Democratic Party has been putting before us in the past few years. Maybe they should nominate their Party mascot in 2008??
