Election Will Prompt Democratic Soul-Searching

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats are likely to enter a period of intense soul-searching and internal struggles after their 2004 election defeats, as they ask themselves how they regain the confidence of the American majority, political analysts said on Wednesday.

It will not be an easy task. Defeated in the presidential election, the party that dominated U.S. politics from the 1930s until the 1990s also lost ground in both chambers of Congress and the Republicans retained control of most of the state governorships.

"I think this is a realigning election. The Democrats are going to have to get used to permanent minority status for a generation or two," said Tom Schaller, a political scientist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

They don't get it, and my guess is they won't figure it out anytime soon. With the likes of Michael Moore and Al Franken, democrats have a long way to go; these men are nearly in outer space when it comes to understanding the average American Joe.

This is what happens when you stray to far from your base. They lost sight (or interest) of what it meant to be an American with moral and Traditional values a long long time ago. They took on too many positions and tried to reach out to the world, rather than their own base right here in the good old USA!

Their blame America first strategy has been rejected by those on their side that take pride in America and what she stands for. Along with those who believe in the fundamental values of which our nation was built. They can pretend that they're a party for all the people, but it's simply a major mistake on their part to think most weren't paying attention or keeping track of their lacking efforts to follow threw on ANYTHING. They will have plenty of time to sit back and think what they've done wrong, but it's not going to be any time soon that they'll recover from this. All they had to do was stay true to their convictions one way or the other. But they lost sight of that long ago, and may never be trusted again.

The liberal freaks are not what America wants. That's where they made their first mistake. The second mistake was the sudden reversal of Kerry becoming this life long Conservative, but once again, the people were paying attention.

Plus, we just simply kicked his sorry http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif

They lost the presidency, seats in the Senate and House, 11 states confirmed marriage as man and woman, Puff Dashcle ousted, except for the major metropolitan area they won nothing and what has this taught the commiecrats? My guess is nothing. It should tell them their wacko liberalism is not in line with what the majority of what America wants. Even Carville said they need to re-evaluate!!!!! But they have Madam Hillara waiting in the wings who, at this stage, would be a flat loser with her ultra-liberal position. Their real choice is do they pander to the Clintons or listen to the majority of Americans? I'm putting my money on the Clintons.

I doubt that there will be any serious soul-searching by the Democratic party. More likely, there will be finger-pointing and the blame game. The party hierarchy is convinced of its moral superiority to the point that they won't concede there is any problem within the party. They think the real problem is the rest of us - you know, the morons who are just too stupid to realize they're right.
