Florida Voters Could Also Be Ohio Voters

CLEVELAND — Thousands of people who are registered voters in Ohio and Florida possibly could vote twice in the presidential election through use of absentee ballots, The Plain Dealer reported Sunday.

An investigation of voter rolls in the two key battleground states found that some double voting has occurred previously and could go undetected Tuesday, the newspaper said.

Many states have only just begun to compile statewide voter registration lists (search) to comply with a 2002 federal voting law. Such lists allow state officials to find double registrations within a state, but states rarely coordinate with one another.

I can see the day coming when a national database of registered voters is compliled, and as you vote anywhere in the U.S., your name will be closed out and you will not be able to double vote.
This will prevent illigal aliens, convicts, and others who are not intitled to vote from doing so as well.

As much as I hate the idea of more government involvement in our lives, the increasing level of voter fraud in this country will push us into having to do something like this. All because of a few dishonest people consistently lack pride and integrity. A total disrespect for their personal right and freedom to vote in this country.

What about voting at the address you give on your tax declaration as your amin residence?

It was in 2000,44,000 reg. voters in N.Y. & FL.(and they VOTED!) makes one wonder why Algor only wanted to count Palm Beach County,FL.(guess where those 44,000 were living in 2000) http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/usflag22.gif

If a voter lives part of the year in one state and the rest of the year in another, I could see participating in local elections in both states, but there would have to be safeguards against voting twice for the national candidates/issues.

The law is one vote, if you vote more than once even if it is in different you should be fined/jailed. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

If we had a national registery this would not be happening. We all have our s/s number even though this scares me to have more people out there seeing it it would work. With our computer system all one would have to do is type in the number. Hoping they can type correctly.

Democrats do not want this because they get more double voting for them. vote Bush http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/usflag22.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif

Are you suggesting the people who have "double voted" honestly don't know it's wrong?

I have two homes in two different counties and pay taxes the same as for a primary residence in both counties but I know I can only vote where I live and I can have only one primary residence.

You get only one homestead exemption and that is your primary residence. What is so hard to understand about that?
Double voting is, or should be, illegal. Usually, illegal behavior strips a person of the right to vote - PERMANENTLY!

The double voters should be fined and neither vote counted!!! The states in question who cannot contain such activities should perhaps loose their electoral votes for the election in question, much the same as colleges are penalized for unethical behaviors by being eliminated from a portion of the season.
