TOP STORY: Tancredo announces 2003 Congressional Arts Competition

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-CO) invites all interested high school students in Colorado 's Sixth Congressional District to participate in "An Artistic Discovery" -the 2003 Congressional Arts Competition.

In 1982 the first Congressional Arts competition was held, offering high school students the opportunity to exhibit their artwork in our nation's capitol. *Since then, nearly 5,000 local contests have been conducted which have involved more than 650,000 high school students. The winning entries from last year's competition are currently on display in the
Cannon House of Representatives Office Building in Washington , D.C.

"This competition is an excellent way for high school students in Colorado 's Sixth Congressional District to showcase their artwork in our nation's Capitol Building ," said Tancredo.

Guidelines and information packets were sent to all high school guidance and art departments in Colorado 's Sixth Congressional District. -U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-CO) invites all interested high school students in Colorado 's Sixth Congressional District to participate in "An Artistic Discovery" -the 2003 Congressional Arts Competition. Students wishing to participate must submit their artwork no later than Thursday April 24, 2003 . -On the first Monday of every month, Congressman Tancredo will conduct his “Monthly Issue Breakfast Forum.” *The next breakfast will take place on May 5th at the Pinery Country Club, located at 6900 E. Pinery Parkway. *The breakfast begins promptly at 7:30AM. *The special guest
speaker is General Ralph E. Eberhart, Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command, and Commander, U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Reservations are required. *Please contact April Canter at 720.283.9772 for details.

-On Friday, April 25th, Rep. Tancredo and Rep. Beauprez will
host a special tax forum with honored guests Rep. John Linder (R-GA), a leading advocate to reform America's complex tax code with the consumption tax, and flat tax advocate Scott Hodge, Executive Director of the Tax Foundation. *Specifically, the discussion will debate the
merits of the Flat Tax vs. Consumption Tax. *The event will take place at the Lakewood City Council Chambers at 2:30PM Mountain time. *
