Networks Vow Caution in Calling Election

By Howard Kurtz

Four years after the biggest embarrassment in the history of television news, network executives are vowing to do better on Nov. 2.

"No one wants a repeat of what happened, when we became part of the story of election night," said NBC News Vice President Bill Wheatley.

"We all learned a lesson four years ago," said Fox News Senior Vice President John Moody. "There will probably be an abundance of caution in most newsrooms, at least in ours."

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif Have they learned their lesson from the past four years? How about the past few weeks? Forged documents? Inter-department memos about biased coverage for Kerry? And of course the continual assault on President Bush these past 4 years. I'll be watching FOX. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

What we need is a law or FCC regulation that says news coverage can't begin, national or local, until the last poll closes on the West Coast. Oh, can't you just hear the wailing and the gnashing of teeth?

I totally agree! Ofcourse....this year we'll be getting help from the UN inspectors or something equally as retarded.

If I were a wagering person, I'd give you 5 to 1 that one of the big three screws up again and calls Florida for Kerry before 8:00 p.m. EST.

I thank the Almighty that I have learned that gambling and the lottery are just a tax on the mathematically challenged.

Can you imagine the UN getting ANYTHING straight, after they ran the Afghanistan election using the wrong inks, or did they use the washable ink to stamp voters to undermine that great election? Fortunately, all inks can be taken off somehow, so it couldn't make a difference.

Can they interfere if they question something here?

Whoops, maybe I posted above on wrong topic, so here I'll say I hope if they call it or intimate estimates early that they will get the surprise of the results Australia got, when their polls were almost even, but their prime minister won by a large margin.
Did you see on Fox the comparison between non-cable network v. cable negative remarks on the candidates? Roughly 40 % more favorable editorial remarks for Kerry on non-cable, but about 7% less favorable for Kerry on cable. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/usflag22.gif

After more than a year and a half of openly biased programming, commentary and polls, why should they stop now? The Republican presidential candidate has to not only run against the Democratic opponent, but also the media, 527's, Hollywierd and Labor Unions. If a Republican wins it really is a miracle!

I hope they remember thae Florida is in two different time zones! Many in the central time zone did not vote because they were told it was over Gore was declared the winner of Florida, this is a very republican area of the state. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/usflag22.gif
