I realize there are a few Michael Savage fans here (and possibly not!), but MSNBC is feeling the pressure as advertisers drop. *
Check out the celebrating at the "Advocate" HERE. (http://www.advocate.com/new_news.asp?ID=8005 &sd=03/13/03) It's interesting all the "tolerance" they have of opposing viewpoints.
So I wrote the following companies a letter, in hopes that I'll get a response. *
If you feel like joining, great. *If not, no worries. *
Dell Computers – One Dell Way, Round Rock Texas, 78682
The Proctor and Gamble Company – 1 Proctor and Gamble Plaza, Cincinnati Ohio 45201
Idea Village – 21 Law Drive, 2nd Floor, Fairfield, New Jersey, 07004
Cole Media, Inc. – 306 West Ave, *Lockport, NY 14094
Sharper Image – No address, but CEO Richard Thalheimer’s email is: *richard@sharperimag e.com
Casual Male – David A. Levin, President and CEO, 781-828-9300 (left message)
The letter I sent to them is as follows: *or… Name em and Shame em!
To Whom It May Concern:
I recently heard that you have decided to pull your advertising dollar from MSNBC due to the Michael Savage show. *I am writing to protest the decision.
I disagree with fringe groups like NOW, GLAAD and no doubt, countless OTHERS that like to decide what the American Public can be “exposed to”. *Those groups have publicly called for you, as a sponsor, to pull your ads with lots of campaign money.
As a regular joe citizen, I don’t have the millions of dollars and public spots, nor do I have the distinguished “Director” status for with a “lobby” organization. *I happen to have religious beliefs that aren’t welcome by the above groups, yet I don’t find the time to “organize and boycott” companies like yours when I see a show that doesn’t suit my taste. *I simply change the channel. *How does a regular guy like me compete?
I happen to be entertained by the Michael Savage show, and the show that he did air was of a refreshingly new and diverse nature – non PC – something I would have hoped that you would have embraced.
Maybe NOW, and GLAAD and other groups like them will decide to be dedicated to purchasing your products – and I’m glad you appeal to them. *But you missed the boat with the consumers that see products advertised – you know, your customers like me.
I just wanted to voice my protest. *If the groups that mass-emailed you (and they brag about it on their websites) could, they would silence my voice as well. *
Thank you for your time.
