France has every right to disagree with America. But France has moved from simple dissent to active hostility toward America.
French President Chirac warned East European nations that
if they side with America, France will oppose their
membership in the European Union.
This week, William Safire reported in the New York Times
that France has been secretly helping to arm Iraq -- and
has been helping Iraq build long range missiles. These
same missiles may soon be used against American soldiers.
Just as France is exercising its right to disagree,
Americans can exercise their right to boycott -- and avoid
helping companies and countries that do not stand with America.

Hi Tom http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif
And I'm sure we'd be even more shocked to know how many "formerly American" companies now belong to Germany, Mexico and many others. Daimler/Chrysler comes to mind. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif
And those who have not sold out, have moved out. It's hard to compete with slave labor.

A short and simple answer - we have become a nation of consumers, not manufacturers. The bottom line is making money and other countries love to invest in and buy successful American companies. We do the research and build the product(company) and the owners sell to whoever has the big bucks.

The question is: will you be able to live without buying the products of all our companies?

French; Yes we can, and with the revelations that so many of those companies are French owned I imagine we will create some home grown competition and see how long they last. Tom Todd

Good Morning all.
Celticon and everyone else..you can email President Bush. Go to www.probush.com and look for the section that reads contact the President. It gives you phone numbers, fax numbers (so you can fax letters of support) and of course email. I try to email everyday.
Enjoy.

That's MSU - I didn't see that one in time. *
French: *is this what you're referring to?
Quote[/b] ]Boycott to US products is being supported by:
France, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iran, China, ...
So what? *
WE get screwed through trade deals and taxation anyway. *What US products are YOU referring to? *
Oh... you mean FOOD? *
Here's what Egypt is calling to boycott:
Quote[/b] ]The unified list of boycotted products, a copy of which has been received by Islam Online, includes goods considered symbols of U.S. domination. Among them are MacDonald's, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Arial (Washing powder), Marlboro, Pampers (baby diapers), Heinz productsetc. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif
Islam Online! *Connecting oil moguls and peasants! *"HELLO, YOU'VE GOT SADDAM" http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif Can I get Version 8.0 shipped to my house? I get these silly American versions every week!
Microsoft is a US company, no? *Hey French - what Operating System do YOU use? *Is it a "Symbol of Domination", or does it just make your internet experience a little easier? *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
If you were REALLY patriotic, you'd ditch your Windows and get a Macintosh... oh wait. * Apple is a US company too!
Wow - you're screwed if you want to use a computer. *Well, might I suggest a Commodore 64? *Atari 2600? *

Arnett is history and Geraldo Rivera is expelled from the theatre also. Maybe they could move to France and apply for citizenship. While we are cleaning house, let's send the U. stinkin N. over to Paris where it could become a museum for world socialism and debauchery. Tom Todd

French, I notice that at the bottom of your postings it reads: *All in all, they're only iraqis! * -- * *Is this Saddam Hussein's battle cry? *The only Iraqis he seems to care about are his Elite Republican Guards and even they aren't safe if they put a foot wrong.
BTW, I didn't know that the French had a colony in outer space, which is where you seem to be coming from. Oh, that's right, that's the Ivory Coast, isn't it? My bad. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

Well, I'm not so sure, Celticon. *
I haven't seen him around the posts lately.
Maybe he went to "show us!" and unloaded Windows just to spite us - only to afterwards realize that he can't get online to tell us how life is without all those nasty US corporations. * I would say his Microsoft Boycott is, indeed, working!
In OUR benefit, too! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

There was an old movie on TV that showed the origins of the term "Boycott". *I think Charles Laughton played the part of the Englishman that was the first to experience the action.
Sir Percival Boycott was a Limey that decided to retire in Ireland to make his family fortune go farther. *He was arrogant, abusive and took great delight in cheating the locals any time he could. *Some of the local lads *planned his demise, but the local priest managed to get them together in the basement of the church and convinced them to try another tactic. *Instead of killing him, the priest said they should just treat him as though he didn't exist. *Don't sell him anything, don't accept his wages as servants, and above all ignore him as though he was not even there. *Boycott soon realized he could not even convince servants from England to come to his estate in Ireland, and he was soon out of food. *Eventually he is shown heading back to Limeyland on his cart with all his possessions. *The boycott only works when ALL the villagers agree to cooperate. *It only takes one opportunist to blow the whole plan. *Tom Todd
