Mr. Petroskey,
Thank you! *Thank you for having the courage to stand up to the liberal Hollywood crowd and their blatant anti-Americanism. *Many Americans feel the same way as I do, that it's about time these people are held responsible for their actions and that there are consequences for their behavior. *The great thing about living in such a wonderful country like this is that both groups are well within their rights to their opinions and actions! *
Hard-working Americans like myself feel that the comments and actions of many of the Hollywood left have provided aid and comfort to our enemies abroad. *Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon should not be welcomed at the shrine of America's pastime. *You, Mr. Petroskey, did the right thing in refusing them a platform from which to preach their anti-American rhetoric. *It's amusing to note the hypocricy in Mr. Robbin's statement to the press, that he feels our actions are some type of bullying tactic aimed at silencing him. *In essence, Mr. Robbins seeks to prevent OUR right to speak out, to exercise OUR rights as consumers.
American patriots are exercising their rights to free speech, exercising their rights as consumers to inform companies that would employ these entertainers to sell their products. *We aren't buying! *We will not forget their attacks on America, their siding with interests against their own country. *It's time to send a message to those anti-American entertainers that seek to make a living based on earning the dollars of hard-working Americans like myself...You're Fired! *You've abused your star status and now your license has been REVOKED.
We do not wish to see the faces of Liberal Hollywood in our places of entertainment. *This is our right as Americans.
We support and thank you, Mr. Petroskey.

Tim Robbins seems to be under the illusion that he was asked to appear at this Hall of Fame shindig because of his remarkable brain and character, because, of course, that's why the communist sponsors wanted him and his squeeze to be so vocal and visible during the protests. Just for their sterling qualities? Having name and face recognition and being from Hollyweird had nothing to do with it? They're just this plain guy and his gal talkin' http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/chatter.gif politics amongst friends? Nobody would pay any attention to them? It would have been the same with Joe Six-pak and his Jane? Delusion is the proper word.
Why is it that these types never want to take the responsibility for what they say. You can http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shootout.gif your mouth off all you want, but then comes judgment day.
Talk about a fictional life. He's been in La-La Land for so long that he actually believes that he's the invisible man or is too d@m^ed cowardly to stand up and take his lashes like a man.
Guess he forgot that hot dogs, apple pie, and BASEBALL are what the United States of America is supposed to be all about............... http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

The following email I received from Mr.Petroskey this morning after sending him an email commending him on his actions a couple of weeks ago:
April 24, 2003
Dear Friend:
* * * * *We have received thousands of letters, e-mails, and phone calls about the cancellation of the Bull Durham events scheduled for April 26-27. *Thank you for sharing your feelings with us.
* * * * *The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is a very special place - a national treasure - and my responsibility is to protect it. *Politics has no place in The Hall of Fame. *There was a chance of politics being injected into The Hall during these sensitive times, and I made a decision to not take that chance. *But I inadvertently did exactly what I was trying to avoid. *With the advantage of hindsight, it is clear I should have handled the matter differently.
* * * * *I am sorry I didn't pick up the phone to have a discussion with Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon rather than sending them a letter. *
* * * * *We are so lucky to have Baseball - a game that unites us as Americans. *The events of the past week show us all that The Game burns brighter than ever and continues to stir passions in many people. *
* * * * *Our wish is that every American will visit Cooperstown and join us in celebrating Baseball, our national pastime and the greatest game of all.
My Best Wishes,
Dale Petroskey
President

Here's the letter I sent:
Mr. Petrosky,
If you wanted to be smart, you would issue a formal apology to Mr. Robbins and Miss Sarandon, reschedule the event, and announce that it is time to stop dividing America over your polical bias. This type of behavior is not acceptable in baseball. Baseball is America's game. Not the Republican party. A simple phone call to Mr. Robbins with a request to refrain from political speech would have avoided this entire problem.
Those of us who love our country, and respect the constitution, are extremely disappointed by what you've chosen to do. I have family in the military. They fight for our freedom. Our freedom to hold whatever political views we wish. When people like you threaten those freedoms, it's harder for people like me to comprehend just what the heck you were thinking.

Thank goodness that most Americans supported Mr.Petrosky. I happen to think (as the majority of Americans do) that Mr.Petrosky did the 'smart' thing. Most of us do not wish to support a subversive during a time our country is at war.

Bill,
Lets engage in a debate. During the Kosovo conflict Tom Delay, Trent Lott, Rush Limbaugh, President (Then Governor) Bush, Orren Hatch, Bill O'Reilly.....
The list goes on and on and on.....
All of them criticized Clinton and in one way or another said we shouldn't be there. In the end we stopped a homicidal maniac who is currently on trial in the Hague for war crimes.
Here's my question to you, do you feel that if the Baseball Hall of Fame had been run by a Democrat and he cancelled an event featuring any Republican who criticized the President during a time of war, do you feel that would be correct. This is baseball, all he had to do was call them to ask they refrain from political speech.
Your thoughts?
