A number of recent articles a few days before the upcoming Gubernatorial Inauguration in Florida this Tuesday, have many asking the question; with Jeb being the first re-elected Republican governor in Florida ever, is it too far-fetched to consider that he "might" be a great presidential candidate after his brother's second term?

going where no Republican has gone before (http://www.heraldtribune.co m/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Site=SH&Date=20030106&Category=NEWS&ArtNo=301060551&Ref=AR&Profile=1017&SectionCat=FRONTPAGE )

I support Gw Bush until the end of time but Jed Bush I just dont like the guy. Its personal and what he did really scares me. I wont talk about it here because no one but the parties involved need to know what happen. However if Jed becomes Pres is no better that Gore becoming Pres in my mind.

Well, Mark, if you are going to make an accusation, I think you owe it to us to tell us what the heck you are talking about. At least PM me, because there are a few rumours circulating about Jeb that are just not true, or are overblown. I am curious what you are talking about. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif

Let me just say I don't like the guy and leave it at that.

Floridaguy, do you think America would elect a third Bush that quickly? I know we like to talk about a dynasty but I wonder if people really want that.

Mark, you can't change anyone's mind about a candidate unless you give reasons.

If Jeb Bush were to be elected to the office of President to replace his brother it would be a disaster for the liberals. I expect that as many as 20% of them would not live through the night to se the dawn of what would be a new age. Those who could keep their cold hearts beating would call for a revolution.

It is too much to ask for GW to make history with his astronomical approval ratings and then his brother to make history right behind him. I expect we will have to wait for a younger Bush to be the next Bush on the White House lawn but if Jeb can get the nomination I’ll vote form him.

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif They are right Mark. If you don't have anything but hearsay , why even bring it up. I know there are many things that have been said about GW that are not true and I imagine it is the same about Jeb. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Just for the record, Jeb is currently one of the most popular governors in the country. But to Granite's point, if we do have to skip a generation for the next Bush to be president (or governor? ) then it will definitely be George P. Bush, Jr., Jeb's son. He is one of the most polished, well-spoken people I have ever met for his age (20s? ) and is a teacher as well (besides being about the only child of the president or Jeb that has not gotten in very public embarrasing trouble). He campaigned for his uncle, particularly in Hispanic outreach, and he was master of ceremonies for the Inauguration today in Florida. He is wise beyond his years, and has only the best traits of his family members who came before him. Regarding Jeb, remember, he is not the one hyping up talk of a potential 2008 presidential run, it is many (liberal? ) reporters asking him about it, and suggesting it. I truly believe Jeb just wants to focus on Florida for now, and continue to make outstanding changes for our state as he did in his first term.

Watching poor, silly Hillary try to debate Jeb Bush would be the greatest show on earth. Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight! I sure hope we get to see it.

Paddle forward, kids

Don't be too quick to dismiss Mrs. Clinton! If there are any rumors floating about Jeb she will repeat and inflate them through her minions. Mrs. Clinton has no moral barometer to check her baser instincts. There is no level too low for her to stoop. Running against her would be the fight of a lifetime for Mr. Bush.

Couldn't agree more, Bob! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif If it weren't for "low class" she'd have "no class" whatsoever. She is so low that she has to untie her shoes to blow her nose. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif

As for Jeb, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. If GW has a successful second term (assuming he gets re-elected) it isn't too much of a stretch for Jeb to follow in his footsteps. However, Terri makes a good point about the people and dynasties.

Jeb has been the best thing in a long time for the state of Florida. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif And he is continually being attacked (unmercifully) by the Dems. He's still trying to mend the damage done by Lawton Chiles and his minions. Education and HRS were abject failures ~ ie Rilya Wilson (who they would like to hang on Jeb personally) but the corruption started long before he took office. And he's very tough crime. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Jed has a bunch of issues about his life and family that need to be addressed.

1. His drug crazed daught
2. The sexual harrasment issue with his son
3. The Flordia election of 2000
4. Why did Jed not do anything to fix the problem in 2002
5. Second Wife
6. Cuban issues
7. Oil in the Gulf drilling

Just to name a few

Mark,

* *Again, I am not sure what you are talking about, but the few things I could decipher, I am curious why they are negatives for you? The first 2, I am not sure what you are referring to, the election of 2000 turned out ok, and had nothing or little to do with Jeb personally. In 2002, Florida had the best, most conservative election in years, and if you are referring to the Dem primary, who the heck cares? *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif The only Cuban issue I know of is that Castro cannot stand Jeb, because he thinks people of Cuban origin in Florida are stirring up the folks in Havana, and he is right. Florida is one of the strongest foes of Castro, and are continuously a thorn in his side. Jeb has made part of that possible. Jeb has kept oil drilling from ocurring in the Gulf. Thank God he has. No Floridian that doesn't work for an oil company wants the last great marine ecosystem in our country potentially destroyed by oil drilling here. It is much safer and cleaner to do it in ANWR, and we haven't been able to get it to happen there, either. You have pointed out a number of reasons why Jeb is a great governor, and would make a great president, too. Where are the issues with him? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif

I do care in the eyes of the law every voter has the right to vote 2002 the problems should have been solve. In regards to 2000 the problems were all Al Hore not knowing when to stop balling that he lost.

But in the eyes of the voters Jed did not fix the problems of 2000. Yes it is not his problem and yes he had people work on it. It was the Dem primary who cares I agree but the Voters that could win the election for him or lose it for him might. I just think Jed is too much a wild child for Pres to many questions and issues the common uneducated or uneducable voter will have. Thats it
