Principles for Restructuring America's Global Military Infrastructure
by Jack Spencer
WebMemo #554

August 16, 2004

President Bush announced today that the United States will alter its overseas basing infrastructure in the coming years. This realignment of forces could affect up to 70,000 servicemen currently stationed abroad and nearly as many dependants. The President should be applauded for this initiative to advance America's national security.

America's global basing infrastructure must be transformed for several reasons:

When this first hit the news yesterday - it was yesterday wasn't it? - one of the twerpett reporters said that President Bush was going about this the wrong way. (She probably learned all about military re-structuring in her 1st year Women's Studies Class). She said that we all need to reach a general consensus on this before the President should do it.

Excuse me? A general consensus? Whom shall we include? The French? China? Iran? Sweden? Saudi Arabia? Mexico? The United Nations? Shall we ask neophyte twerpette reporters?

Ahem - now hear this: The President is the Commander in Chief. If he is smart he will consult with the people he feels have something useful to say, and then HE decides.

It's not a "general consensus" type of thing.

Twerp.

Are you sure it was a twerpett reporter?

That kind of comment sounds like something one of the three-headed-monsters would have said!!

Hmmm, was it Rep. Barbara Lee (Democrat of California)? Or maybe Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (Democrat of Texas)?

I know who it was! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/light.gif It was the leader of all evil's~Rep. Corrine Brown (Democrat of Florida)!!!!!!
Every time I see or hear anything about her, I just want to http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/barf.gif

No, it was an authentic curly haired twerpette reporter-in-training spouting off when she learned last week in her basket weaving class at the local university.

With such a sincerely upset face (sniffles and all) and tears in her voice....how could the president do this without consulting her as part of the consensus.

We're laughing, but the ACLU is probably taking it very seriously.

a general consensus http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?? *

I'm with Basheva and the others who think it's a ludicrous suggestion.

I wish Dubya wouldn't have even announced it. *I wish they would've woke up one fine morning to find the bases empty..with a great big 'Aste La Vista BABY' sign posted on
the gates.

I don't have a clue how to spell it! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/usflag22.gif
