Gay marriage ban makes Montana ballot

Helena, MT, Jul. 15 (UPI) -- A proposal to ban homosexual marriages in Montana has qualified for the November ballot.

The secretary of state's office in the Big Sky Country said Thursday more than 46,000 petition signatures gathered in 38 counties qualified the proposed amendment to the state constitution that would limit marriage to heterosexual couples.

Gay activists in Helena said they might challenge the proposal (http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20040715-095148-1961r.htm)

That is good for Montana but if Gay marriage is not banned by our Legislative Branch so that it is illegal throughout the entire country then it won't really matter what Montana does. The Federal Courts will overrule Montana's rights saying that since it is Legal (say for example) in Massachusetts then Montana would not have the legal right to deny marital rights to a couple whose marriage is legal in another State to have the same rights in that State. It will be a Pandoras Box that will tear this Country apart!

Don't look now, but Pandora's Box has already been opened. It's the trying to shut it up again that's going to tear this country apart.
