<span style='color:navy'>Hi All! It's already mid-week in the Precinct and a really hot week it is too. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif I knew summer would eventually appear in Colorado.

Yes, I know polls are meaningless, but........ don't you like that TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll taken in NC that shows Bush-Cheney over Kerry-Edwards by 15 points among likely voters anyway? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yesterday, I told you that the Phillippines were removing their troops from Iraq. Today the news is better. Australia is increasing troops in Iraq. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/salute1.gif

Kerry and Edwards will be skipping any Senate vote on marriage although it's unsure that there will even be one now. Republicans are fighting over wording and it appears that they will be unable to muster the necessary votes for passage. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

Obviously Michael Moore doesn't drink Slim-fast. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

<span style='font-size:10pt;line-height:100%'>Words of Wisdom:</span> "Senator Kerry tried to explain his vote (against funding the war) by saying this, "I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it." (Booing)

"Now, listen, he's entitled to his view. * He's entitled to his view. *But members of Congress should not vote to send troops into battle, and then vote against funding them. *(Applause.) *And *then brag about it." ~ President Bush on the campaign trail! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/clap.gif

Good Morning! *(or night if you've got insomnia).

Terri- I adored the Bush speech today, at least what I saw of it! *Bravo for Australia and Bulgaria too! *My prayers go tonight for the family of the Bulgarians- so, so sad. *

The Johns are not going to take this wonderful state! *I hope Bush beats them here with a HUGE landslide! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif * I think Bill Richardson was wise to jump ship and turn down any offer of VP, because this one has sprung a big leak. *

I don't give a whoop about Whoopi. *I'm svelte anyway, and don't use Slim-fast, but I'm e-mailing and encouraging everyone I know to e-mail them and call them on the carpet. *These corps hate being bothered with threats of boycotts by e-mail. *Here's a link to e-mail your comments to them:

Morning! It's girl power day here (hubs is off playing Army somewhere on an overnight...which translates to they are all getting together to grill steaks, watch movies using a laptop and a projector, and stay up late and party...all under the guise of training).
So we have chick flicks, and kid flicks rented (poor Tyr...I guess we should have rented some K9 flicks...but then those would mostly be boy movies....and girl power rules today).

My mom sent this to me editorial cartoon (http://www.unitedmedia.com/editoons/luckovich/archive/luckovich-20040710.html) Being a reenactor, I just had to laugh. LOL
Anyway, time for a dog walk.

I am sick of internet news. Yesterday I got George Cloony and how he must hide from fans in his Italian mansion. Today, I get how Trump wants to fire the Bush Administration. Well...he's entitled to that opinion, but this is not the United States of Trump...so he can vote like everyone else. Next he'll say that he should be entitled to more than one vote, since he has so much $$.

However, knowing the "shrill one" I wouldn't be at all surprised if she just conveniently showed up impromtu (yeah, sure) to a standing ovation from her adoring fans.

Quote[/b] ]Kerry and Edwards will be skipping any Senate vote on marriage although it's unsure that there will even be one now.

Sounds like this measure doesn't have much of a chance right from the git-go. But I'm sure if it were a close race the two Johns would make sure they showed up to veto it. After all the tall John showed up to vote against the Lacy Peterson law. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif Not sure about the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile4.gif John.

According to DRUDGE, "Cheech & Chong" better known as Howeird and Alsharpless, will be speaking at the DNC Convention. That should be the highlight of the evening. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif I'm sure you'll want to set your TIVO or DVR to capture this momentous event. (I'm even gagging myself). http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif

Well, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif yesterday they had to shoot the tiger that was roaming around Florida. It seems it lunged at an officer. Nancy ~ thanks for the Slim Fast link. They may want to rethink the type of person they use as a spokesperson. Howdy y'All!

Whoopi's out there hawking SlimFast? I always thought that was a weight loss / slim down product. I must've been wrong. Whoopi using it means its a get big product. BTW, the Xerox Company is still developing a copying machine big enough to make a copy of her b*tt...

And with that appetizing thought, how 'bout some http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpgs, http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallchockk.jpgs, and http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallsprinkles.jpgs this fine morning? If you don't want to wash them down with SlimFast, the precinct http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif is always a hit.

If you didn't see it in yesterday's precinct, I highly recommend going back to read Basheva's post about Republicans vs Democrats during the Civil Rights debates in the 1950s and '60s. It's very enlightening.

Hillary will not be silent at the DNC convention.

Bill Cosby's speaking at the NAACP convention today. Anybody here that wouldn't love to be a fly on a wall for that one?

Quote[/b] ]hubs is off playing Army somewhere on an overnight...which translates to they are all getting together to grill steaks, watch movies using a laptop and a projector, and stay up late and party...all under the guise of training

LAW, I don't remember those rubbery patties of "beef" that come in T-Rats as being "Grilled steaks". They did work well for skeet shooting, though.

Enjoy your day.

My SlimFast e-mail has been sent. It takes 10 seconds using Nancy's link.

I also have sent my comments to Slim-Fast. *I didn't post a link to contact "60 Minutes" here but I also e-mailed them a few days before the John-John Lovefest 1 hour campaign commercial was set to air and asked them when they planned on having a Bush/Cheney 1 hour campaign commercial. *Interestingly enough, I never got a response. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ne_nau.gif

I was becoming increasingly nervous about this election but now I am getting more confident with each passing day. *Kerry and Edwards are self-destructing since that Bush hatefest that they had and declared was a showcasing of the heart and soul of America. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/barf.gif *I also saw an interview with the Edwards and his wife on the Today show and KATIE COURIC actually called him out and was pretty forceful about his and Kerry's flip-flopping with the Iraq war. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yelclap.gif *From what I understand, Couric is no Republican, but she shocked me this morning.
I also saw the Today Show interview with the First Lady and when she was asked if John Edwards matched up with Dick Cheney she said, "No..." and laughed vehemently. *'Twas a good moment.

I bought a computer game called "President Forever" where you can participate in the elections running as one of the candidates or making your own candidate. *You can also go back and do the Election of 1960 between Kennedy & Nixon, 1980 between Carter & Reagan, and 1992 between Clintoon & Bush. *I played the 1992 Election and beat Clintoon. *It was a bit of sweet justice and made my day better. *If only it had actually happened.

Condi said there won't be a delay on the Election so I'm http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crossfingers.gif that nothing bad will happen. *Another long, hot, boring day ahead of me.

God Bless America! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif

ALSO, you can see which celebs. are top donators to the different candidates. *It kind of upset me, but I was happy to see at least a few celebs. had donated to Bush/Cheney '04. *The "Wal-Mart" Walton's are Republicans and many of them have donated large sums to GOP candidates. *

Termind, you poor dear...this is the way of the modern Army...I meant grilling steaks when I said it...as in last night at the commissary picking steak, loading up the cooler/grill (we have a pop up grill with a cooler attached underneath), marrinating the steak, etc.

Anyway, since I'm feeling cheery, I'll share some of Rosie and my chocolate filled croissants. It's a good thing hubby doesn't play Army campout too often, or else I'd need SlimFast. LOL

Anyway, there's a special on AFN on German Military Intelligence during WWII...looks interesting...

Yeah, like it's not already planned. Some Surprise. But remember we have to have plenty of time to let Michael Berg's father and Ron Reagan Jr have their say. It seems the only qualificatiobn for speaking at the DNC convention is having a public death in the family? Really lame.

Mama Cat, I'm glad you liked my Snorkling story. Every WORD of it is true!

I'm doing a session this morning in the studio so the computer will be off. However, I will catch up with you all later!

Can't have the computer on when I'm recording. The mike is so sensitive it can pick up the slightest noise. And those hard drives are noisy. I'm going to check out the threads and then I'll see Y'all later!

Mary-Lou, the link does have the Wal-Mart stuff on it. *The last person's contributions I looked at were Ken Lay's, and there was no home-page that I could find, so I just copied and pasted. *If you notice, scroll over to the left and you'll see a list of other celebs and various personalities as well. *Click on them and see who they donated to. *I had a brief memory lapse about Ken Lay and how that may convey a negative image of the GOP, but you can find comfort in knowing that such great patriots at Larry Flynt and Jerry Springer are big Dumbocrat donators. *Sorry to have upset or confused anybody with the link!
It has been fixed to show you the "Wal-Mart" Walton's contributions.

Good morning all.

Thanks Nancy, I told Smil-fast what they can do with their new Whoopi’s bush flavor.

LAW, I was wondering if the PX sells Slim-fast. If so you might find out how we can change that.

I mentioned yesterday to our liberal cousins on far left wing forum that http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/witch.gif would not be anywhere near the convention during the most likely attack times. She is hopping that terrorists will kill most of the dem leadership so that she can stand alone as the queen of American liberalism.

RIM, are you sure they said "Cheech & Chong"? I though one of them is still in jail. Maybe they meant that the johns will come out and do a C&C bit to entertain the liberal horde.

Sorry about the tiger. The office must have smelled like raw chicken.

Good Morning All: Like I have said before, NC is Bush country. The western part of the state is heavily Republican and the eastern part is mostly Democrat - but they are very conservative and usually vote for the Republican ticket at the national level. I have not heard one good word on the Kerry/Edwards ticket from anyone. My particular area is loaded with military personnel and military retirees and they don't take kindly to the two johns.

The Precinct is hopping this morning!! *It's only 8:00 a.m. here and we're on page 3!! *

I've added my http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif to the Slim Fast Company. * I will also tell all my friends so they can pass the word along as well. *I checked out the list of contributors and was really surprised that people and companies that one would think would be for the Republican side of the house have made contributions to the dems. *I remember when "big business" was the icon for the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif party. * I guess the parties are going thru a metamorphesis. *I know the democratic party has changed big time in just the past 10 years. *

I was a little surprised that Hill wasn't selected as VP candidate, but I still believe she will find a way to get into the fray, either at the convention or with whatever "surprise" she has hinted is coming in October. *We shall see....

Busy day today. *We're leaving on vacation tomorrow (Michigan for a week!!! Hurrah!!!), and have to also be packed for Girls Camp for the day we get back. *Life is good. *I will likely only be near a computer once all week, so I may or may not check in here. *I will miss all you great people and *the Forum, but in all honesty, I really need a break from all this political malarky. *The other night I almost threw something at the TV. *Seriously. *I'm starting to understand how people "go over the edge" and I don't like the feeling.

Have a great day, everybody!! *Keep on keeping on. *Fight the good fight and all that.

That's very kind of you Termind. *It always saddens me when I see Republicans standing there tongue tied when they are accused of not being in favor of the Civil Rights Act. *We have no need to be ashamed of how the party acted at that time. *This accusation has been made so often that it has become a truth - but it is not a truth. *Don't accept it as truth. *Read the facts and then when you hear that accusation, you will be able to respond proudly.

I am going to take the opportunity again, if I may, to post it in again - the part relating directly to the Act are in bold, but the rest is also fascinating:

Forgotten Facts – Civil Rights

Several weeks ago in U. S. News & World Report I read an article which listed American presidents in the last 50 years who had contributed to extending civil rights to all our citizens. *As I read the article I realized that the journalist had only named democratic presidents so I decided to check out the facts.. Roosevelt is automatically assumed to have been in favor of civil rights but I could find no legislation that he proposed. *President Truman integrated the armed forces. *John F. Kennedy worked toward the abolition of segregation in the South though he never actually proposed legislation. *Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. *Then, of course, Clinton is considered the “first Black president,” though he never proposed any legislation and indeed the Civil Rights Act in Arkansas passed only after he left the governor's mansion.

One of the glaring omissions in this list of presidents is Dwight David Eisenhower. *President Eisenhower completed the integration of the military that Truman had begun. *But he did something much more important. *When the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of desegregating the schools in the Brown vs. Board of Education decision, Governor Orvil Faubus, democrat, of Arkansas refused to enforce the ruling. If the Supreme Court’s decisions are not enforced by the executive branch of the government, then the entire Supreme Court is in fact null and void. *It has no enforcement mechanism of its own. *Therefore, Governor Faubus not only stood in the door of the high school in Little Rock, but he also stood in the door blocking the Supreme Court of the United States and thereby rendering the Court useless.

It was a seminal moment in our history. Eisenhower understood that the ruling of the Supreme Court was the Law of the Land and had to be obeyed. *When the Arkansas National Guard was called out, Eisenhower overruled Faubus and federalized it. *The guard was now taking orders from the President of the United States. *In addition Eisenhower sent a division of the 101st Airborne paratroopers. *By 3 a.m. soldiers surrounded the school with bayonets fixed. *Not only were years of abhorrent wrongs righted, but also the judicial branch of our national government was preserved.

We were fortunate to have a president with the foresight, the understanding and the courage to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution to which he had taken an oath. *One can’t help but wonder why this historic event in the course of our nation’s history is so easily forgotten and was not even mentioned in the list of presidents regarding civil rights. *Eisenhower’s response changed the course of history on one hand, and preserved the course of our system of government on the other. *Another president never mentioned is Richard Nixon – it was he who started affirmative action. *Whether we agree with the results or not – the initial intent was to aid those who had been left behind by unconstitutional laws.

I sent an e-mail to the magazine and as I rightly expected received no response. *But it set me thinking that perhaps there were other events that have also been forgotten or miss-reported. *Republicans are often accused of having not supported the Civil Rights Act of 1964. But I wonder do we deserve this? *Let’s see what some facts say about the matter.

The Republicans were in the minority in the House of Representatives and the Senate during the Johnson administration. *The Civil Rights Act passed the House on Feb. 10, 1964. *Of the 420 members who voted, 290 supported the civil rights bill and 130 opposed it. *Republicans favored the bill 138 to 34 (79%); Democrats supported it 152-96 (63%). *Republicans supported it in higher proportions than Democrats. *Without Republicans the bill would have failed. *

How about in the Senate? *Since the Democrats held both houses of congress and the presidency, it was natural that democrat Hubert Humphrey would lead the fight. *But it soon became clear it was conservative Republican Senator Everett Dirksen who would get the job done. *He was the key to victory for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. *Without him and the Republican vote, the Act would have died. *Dirksen was a tireless supporter in his efforts to craft and pass the civil rights act. *He began the tactical arrangements for passage of the bill and organized Republican support by choosing floor captains for each of the bill’s 7 sections.

A filibuster had been organized and led by three Democrat senators: *Robert Byrd (who is now so revered by the democrats); Albert Gore, Sr.; and Sam Ervin of Watergate fame. On June 10, 1964, the Senate gallery was packed as all one hundred senators were present for the climactic moment of the longest filibuster in Senate history. *Late in the morning Everett Dirksen addressed the Senate. In poor health, drained from working fourteen-, fifteen-, and sixteen-hour days, he quoted Victor Hugo, “Stronger than all the armies is an idea whose time has come. The time has come for equality of opportunity in sharing of government, in education, and in employment. It must not be stayed or denied." After Dirksen spoke the roll call vote was called for cloture. As each name was read, members of the press and spectators in the gallery kept tally. At 11:15 a.m., Senator John Williams, Republican of Delaware, replied "aye" to cloture. It was the sixty-seventh vote; cloture had passed, ending the filibuster. It opened the way for the Civil Rights Act to be passed. After successfully defeating the eighty-three-day filibuster, Dirksen, when asked how he had become a crusader in this cause, replied, "I am involved in mankind, and whatever the skin, we are all included in mankind."

In the final vote the Senate passed the Act by 73 to 27. Six Republicans and 21 Democrats voted against passage. *Democrats voted 46 to 21 in favor – that’s 69%. *Republicans voted 27 to 6 in favor – that’s 82%. *Republicans voted in a higher percentage than Democrats in favor of passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. *

But…even before the Civil Rights Act….it was a Republican federal judge who desegregated many public facilities in the South. Appointed by President Eisenhower in 1955, Judge Frank Johnson in his very first decision had overturned Montgomery, Alabama's infamous "blacks in the back of the bus" law. During the 1960s, Judge Johnson continued to advance civil rights despite opposition from George Wallace, Lester Maddox, and other Democrat Governors.

So, when you read or hear that Republicans are not for Civil Rights – don't accept it as true. *Learn the facts.

Slim Fast is getting good sales here right now with the 1st AD coming home (all those wives trying to lose the deployment 15...similar to the freshman 15 you learned about in college...only here, the soldier loses 15 lbs, and the left behind spouse gains it).

Frankly, I would rather not have their votes. They are much less dangerous away from the Senate.

About the Civil Rights article - I wrote it and delivered it at a meeting of the Republican Women Federated in May. Everyone was so surprised that the Republican Party actually came off looking very well - despite the lies that are thrown at us.

I own the copyright - (since I wrote it) but I am happy for any of you to print it out - use it - send it - chew on it - have it for supper - throw parties with it - but don't

use it for confetti!

Nancy, I too, am supposed to be hard at work at the articles I have been commissioned to write (one done and two more to go), but it's all your fault - all of you - that I am here.

Now that we know where each Senator stands (or in Kerry and Edwards case doesn't stand) the battle has begun. This is an issue that won't ever go away. We must either get these Senators that voted against this Amendment to change their minds or we must get rid of these Senators and replace them with ones that will vote for this most important Amendment next time it comes up. It is time that the silent majority remains silent NO MORE! This is the future of our Nation we are talking about here. jibjab.com (http://www.jibjab.com). It can‘t be reached with via the link right now due to server http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/melt.gif down.

It seems that when it first aired on Brit Hume last Friday, the website got a million hits in the first hour. When they get their servers up and running again, I will post the links again. In the meantime, if you want to pay $2.99, you can download the cartoon. For those of you that have dial-up this could take a long time. BTW they have a link for both pc and macs.

Help me out with your Senator on the same sex marriage issue. All the dems want to talk about is why the Republicans are bringing this up NOW. But I never hear the Republicans respond to them with the truth of the matter. I was very surprised months ago when those liberal judges brought this issue up now. If the dems want to know why this is on the calendar NOW they need to ask those Mass judges.

I talked to my Senate offices and they say that they are aware that this is all the dems fault.

The Commodore & his Lady unto the Forum: greetings.

Re LAW & the "Ladies Day" due to hers in a lightweight overnighter training session -- ah, the rigors of training in the USAREUR. Especially so with the Berlin Wall being shipped out in so many pieces. Some hucksters (probably the German equivalent of the guy with wood from the Cross & cloth from the Robe -- if all the pieces said to be from them were assembled, one could build Great Eastern, the largest all-sail ship in the world ever! But the Commodore digresses) no doubt have these pieces in mind. If all the pieces that are supposed to have been part of the Berlin Wall were assembled, we'd have sufficient bricks & mortar to build the Great Wall of China! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Another *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif is sent to LAW for her link to the Army drafting Civil War Re-Enactors for duty in Iraq. The Commodore will give this to his brother Masons in Lodge tonight; it will be good for a *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *

(N.B.: Didn't the Army offer pardons to first time guests in the Slammer? If we are supposedly hard up, let Rummy send word to the various Federal & State Slammers, offering pardons to those who have prior service and are willing to volunteer. The Commodore, however, can hear the DUMB o c RAT Response: *"It's so bad in Iraq that we have to send PRISONERS who are IN THE SLAMMER to fight & die in the desert!" http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bawl.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bawl.gif The Commodore's response to these dumb DUMB o c RATS is from Deputy Commissioner Theo Kojak, NYPD Retired: the NY Philharmonic Orchestra's Violin Corps plays http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nopityA.gif My Heart Bleeds For Ya, words & music by Theo Kojak & Charlie Daniels. (Yep, as in The Devil Went Down to Georgia, The Last Fallen Hero, and other good songs of Rural America.)

Well, dinner awaits, served by the Commodore's Lady. She sends her regards -- and has no interest in SlimFast™.

Good Afternoon All: That was one HOT shopping trip. While in Goldsboro, NC the temperture was at 101 degrees. Thankfully we live out in the country and the temp is only at 94 degrees. Coupled with the high humidity the way it feels is up to 107. I remember back quite a few years when the temperture was 120 degrees on the flight line in SE Asia - the humidity there was even worse than here.

Listening to Neil Cavuto's guest, Ed Koch, the Democratic ex-mayor of NY, explain why he is backing George Bush - its the security of the country and he says the Democrats don't have the stomach for the job. He also said that the reason the Democratic Convention isn't going to be in NY is because they demanded that they not allow the Republicans to come to NY for their convention. What a world we live in.

Time to feed the dogs.

DA, I thought it was hot here in Utah (often 100-103 in the summer), until I heard a young man speak who just returned from Iraq. He said they often had days of 140 degrees -- and they were required (I'm sure it was for safety reasons) to wear full BDU's and gear to the mess tent, where lines were easily an hour long. He said that literally men dropped dead waiting. He said quickly learned to eat rations in his own tent.

Maybe it is HILL who doesn't WANT to speak at the Convention... Think they'll get Whoopi in her place?

Good afternoon all you wonderful GOPUSA er's http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

Just got home from work and I'm about ready to http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/melt.gif ~ not used to eight hour days anymore. But it did go rather quickly since it is always busy. I'm just glad it's only for seven more days.

I'm too tired to say much (bet you're all happy about that) http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif ~ but I have have read all five pages http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif and I think Slim Fast must really be sorry about now that they ever heard of you know who.

flower ~ is the champagne chilling, the candles arranged and the music all lined up. Not that they will be needed. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif "T" minus 2. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happydance.gif

DA ~ I'm so glad you mentioned that blurb about Koch. When I got home from work the hub could hardly contain himself long enough to tell me all about it. He was really surprised. Every day I'm hearing more and more about how the moderate Dems are being turned off by the low and classless campaign that the two Johns are running. I think they're gonna be in for a huge surprise come November. And now, even Chicago has something good to hope for if Ditka runs. Life is getting better and better. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

You all have a great evening ~ and GR ~ I didn't know that one of the Cheeches or Chongs was in prison. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif Come to think about it, wasn't there drugs involved or something like that. That's very kind of you Termind. It always saddens me when I see Republicans standing there tongue tied when they are accused of not being in favor of the Civil Rights Act. We have no need to be ashamed of how the party acted at that time. This accusation has been made so often that it has become a truth - but it is not a truth. Don't accept it as truth. Read the facts and then when you hear that accusation, you will be able to respond proudly.

Neil Cavuto said on his program today that he thinks that in the end, the people's choice of candidate will not be based on on Iraq or the economy or education or the marriage amendment act or any of the other hot button political issues that the news has been flooded with. *He believes that ultimately the voters elect the more likeable of the candidates. *That more than people will admit, they vote with their hearts and not their heads. *What do you think?

Ollie and the captain he had with him on the air both said they had to be "hydrated" after the battle, intravenously. It must be miserable over there. Pray everybody for these wonderful troops...

I got an e-mail today from a soldier in Iraq, who reports the high temp there is 154 degrees! And we think we're sweltering??? Yikes. It's hardest on them when they're on patrols in that heat, and I'm in a group sewing neck coolers for them to beat the heat, and they seem to really love them. They're like little mini air conditioners.

For those femme fatales here who have confessed to their golden locks in/on other threads, me included, just remember one thing girls: all dumbs are not blonde!

My favorite quote for the day by John Edwards:

Quote[/b] ]"What we need in the White House is somebody who has the strength, courage and leadership to take responsibility and be accountable not only for what is good, but for what is bad. That's what John Kerry will be," the North Carolina senator said.

Does he mean that if they ever darken the doors of the White House, we can expect a lot of bad things they'll need to apologize for?

The Commodore & his Lady unto the Forum: greetings.

Re the Slim-Fast™ ads: good work all! The Commodore was in Lodge and posting elsewhere in Forum this evening, hence he was unaware of the ad war. Whoopi, for all her activism, has to remember the old proverb -- The Customer is ALWAYS Right!!!

Back during the early days of the Reagan Administration, Dr. Falwell and the earlier version of The Contract With America called for organized boycotts of offending products. Part of the campaign showed the customer going from the national brand of a given product to either an alternate brand or the in-store or generic version thereof. Walgreens is known for its generic RX; when the Commodore seeks to fill the necessary prescriptions for his Lady's diabetes or other illnesses, he seeks the Walgreen version of the product. Saving him and his insurance as much as 50 cents on the dollar, the Commodore can fulfill that part of the Marriage Vow "on the cheap." http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Pity the lawyers, though, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif let them hear the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nopityA.gif of Theo Kojak and My Heart Bleeds For Ya! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Now for the Commodore to assist GW in renewing his lease on the Mansion. The http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggun.gif of the election campaign, though, won't happen until after the GOP Convention in NYC. Hillary the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/witch.gif knows that should Osama try something, he only has a short time frame to do so. Should he http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/surrender2.gif he will get a fair trial, even if it is one which results in him "assuming room temperature." Well, I guess I'll post while there's still a little bit of today left to post in...

I freely admit to lurking earlier, and I have to admit that I e-mailed Slim-Fast, and I'm truly surprised Slim-Fast reacted so quickly... made me feel as though my e-mail to them was worthwhile, after all. I work right across the street from one of their plants, and I was gettin' ready to gather some of my conservative coworkers to go demonstrate after work.

The Senate did America a real disservice with their egomania today. This is an issue that needs to be decided by the 100 million voters in all 50 states, not 98 knuckleheads (not counting the two absentees) sequestered in their (taxpayer-funded) chambers. As it is, the dissenting knuckleheads have taken the issue from their constituents and put it in the hands of the activist judiciary, which will no doubt have a carefully-selected case sent before it in the not-too-distant future. My prediction- and I'm going out on a limb here- is the Ninth Circus will hear such a case shortly before the election.

Well, I'm late for bed, so I should hop down off my soapbox and prepare to (grudgingly) greet tomorrow's pre-dawn.
