Daschle Rips Dubya on Diplomatic Efforts

Deborah Orin
NY Post
March 18, 2003

WASHINGTON - In some of his harshest criticism of President Bush's handling of Iraq, Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle yesterday squarely blamed Bush for the crisis.
"I'm saddened, saddened that this president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we're now forced to war," Daschle said in a speech to a labor group.

But after that speech - in which Daschle seemed to blame Bush more than Saddam Hussein - he reiterated that he would still vote, as he did last fall, to OK an Iraq war: "I would vote the same way I did back then."

Has our head liberal with his head hidden in his, , well you know, has he forgotten that all of our UN efforts were the idea of Colin Powell? Not that it was wrong to try a move in the UN while we got our troops into place, but the weight of diplomacy was on Powell’s shoulders as it should have been. I guess they can blame Bush for letting it happen but Bush nor Powell could not have know that France would cut block us with help from Germany.

Had Daschle and the last of the criminal Kennedys been supportive of our efforts to remove Saddam the French would not have had the spine to back stab our President.

Puff is a bitter, bitter man. *His remark is the manifestations of a man who is aware of his own irrevalancy. *Lacking the intellectual ability and statesmanship to adequately deal with his party's situation, Puff has chosen the course of Martin Sheen and so many other leftists. *He has burst forth in an embarrasing display of substanceless emotionalism.

It is becoming harder and harder to find a true intellectual from the left who can debate this war with any real substance.

Quote[/b] ]Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) said, "I think Sen. Daschle clearly articulated the French position. This is uncalled for, I hope he retracts it."

Daschle declined to withdraw his comments on Tuesday saying, "I don't know if anyone could view what we've seen so far as a diplomatic success."

It's okay, Dasc-hole, we all saw what happened to the Dixie Chicks when they DID withdraw the comments - nothing changes. We still think you're a complete slop bucket carrying farmboy with ill intentions.

Of course Nancy Pelosi had to vomit HER two cents. B!tch!

Quote[/b] ]Other Democrats' criticisms have been less strident. Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee said, "Those of us who have questioned the administration's approach, including this senator, will now be rallying behind the men and women of our armed forces to give them the full support that they deserve as it now seems certain we will soon be at war."

Someone gets it! I vote Carl Levin to kick Dasc-hole in the face, and claim his spot in the Democratic Party. It's bittersweet, but finally, nice to see. WTG Levin!

What gets me about Mr. Daschle (is that a GERMAN name?) and most of the other Dems is that they seem to have a problem developing their own platform - they simply wait for the conservatives to lay out their plans and the dems simply REACT! *They seem to be the party of REACTORS!

I was so angered by his irresponsible comments that I E-mailed his office late last night and voiced my opinion. *

I respect Daschle's first Amendment rights, however, when those rights are used carelessly, he shames the govenment and people for which he serves! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Last night the Congressional Black Caucus put on a special order thing on the House floor and ripped the president one after the other. It is beyond me how they can purport to support the troops while they are ranting about the unjust action that those troops are taking and that they may loose their lives because of illegal actions by their president. Does the CBC think that their words last night helped the moral of our troops?

Well stated, blwebb.

The simplistic observation would be that Dasc-hole has underminded the President, his "begrudging compliance" is obviously a farce, and his begrudging NON-compliance up to this point is why we've given Iraq time for Saddam to load up one of his bunker palaces with French Evian water, food.. basically, prepared Iraq (which in any war, is a tactical blunder) with time. Gee... kinda takes the "element of surprise" away, now doesn't it? WHY did this take so long? The Libs had to "Give Peace A Chance". How many brave US troops is this going to kill?!

His remarks aren't what bother me as much as the attitude that caused the remarks. What a jerk. If he's truly the representative of the Democratic Party... ugh. I shudder to think.

I think I know why Tom D@$$hole's constituents continue to vote for him. *I postulate that he has had a huge lead wall built around South Dakota and the only site they can get on the web is his, *and all TV is scrambled, because this is what he's putting out on his website, which seems to not have any bearing on what he says out in the real world. *Does he really think that the troops in the field are getting his website and they never hear what his big mouth is flapping about? *Which reminds, me, I have a suggestion for a good use for some of that duct tape.

Quote[/b] ]Saddam Hussein is a threat to his own people, the region, and the world. While there has been honest debate about the best means to confront the threat he poses, Americans stand united against him and in support of the men and women from across this country who have volunteered to defend our country. As U.S. troops ; Army and Navy, Air Force and Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard and Reserves ; await their orders, I am committed to doing whatever is necessary to help them accomplish their mission swiftly and safely so they may return home as soon as possible.

Has anyone ever driven in the ####-hole known as South Dakota? Pothole Central.

Remember Herr Daschle's fundraisers on the top of Mount Rushmore? That's as close as I want Daschle getting to any presidency--Mount Rushmore.

His brand of vitriolic BS is due to the Bill & Hill leadership of the Demos. He has a voice and is in a power position because they liked him.

He's an unprincipled swine--he has his own little "Whitewater" problem, too. He got an air-charter company (and campaign contributor) a waiver on safety regulations and cost some people their lives. The company had the worst record for plane maintenance and weren't in compliance. He pulled some strings--unfortunately one of the strings was holding the air-charter company's planes together, it crashed and people were killed.

Don't have to look too hard to find it--it's out on the web. Remember reading about it some time ago.

He was almost de-throned in the last election. Too bad a few more South Dakotan Conservatives didn't find their way to the polls...

I now think of Mr Daschle as the yapping lapdog of the DEMONcratic Party - a lot of annoying noise with no weight to back it up. *The mantra for the Democrats in the 90's was that the Republican's were "mean-spirited". *I guess the Democrats had plenty of personal experience on which to base these complaints, because the diatribes that we have witnessed by the Democratic Party spokespersons and officials are the most virilient and vitriolic display of "mean-spiritness" ever seen. *Their need to diminish Bush and his Presidency means more than sane, rational thought. *As such, they have shown themselves to be the morally bankrupt entity that they are. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

If we are going to examine a Presidency, how about the failed foreign policy of W J Clinton, whose wussy handling of the middle East for eight years has lead us to this eventful point in time. *This is "lamentable" policy that we should be investigating! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/exclamation.gif

Here's what I sent to Daschle's office...

Senator Daschle:
As an American, I would defend to the Death your right to free speech. *But as an elected member of an august body of the greatest country in the world, your pontifications in the last month or so have embarrassed me as an American. *You do not have to agree with the president in all aspects, but he is your and my Commander-in-Chief and President, and as such, does deserve the veneer of courteous address, something that you eveidently were not raised to deliver. *You have used every moment to demean, degrade and snipe at President Bush and his Administration, using wordage more normal to an Iraqi politician than that of an American one. *

Your actions have truthfully exhibited the "mean-spiritedness" you personally accused the Republican's of in the 90's - in spades!

What I think that you and your fellow party members need to really take a look at is the failed foreign policy under the 8 years you and your President held sway that has lead us to the point we are today. *There is plenty of blame to go around. *Be a man and act like one!

Some people just have no clue! *How dare he say things like that at this time in our history! *Just what our precious *country and our brave troops need to hear -- an elected congressman screaming his lack of support! *

I'm ashamed that he is from my home state. (no. I'm not a member of the Dippsy Chicks.)

This is typical of someone who is on his last legs (you know - Nero fiddled while Rome burned.) He's finished and he knows it, so it doesn't matter what he says. The good thing about it is that he is really making some of the moderate Dems angry. (Like Senator Bayh from Indiana) and will probably give us a filibuster proof senate in 2004.

Then again he might be dilousional like Sad dam.

Daschle Calls For ‘Strong Support For Our Troops’

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Tom Daschle today released the following statement after President Bush's address to the nation:
"If the President decides that force is the only remaining option to disarm Saddam Hussein, Democrats and Republicans will be unanimous in our strong support for our troops and for ensuring that they have all the tools and resources needed to be successful.

"If the United States does act militarily against Iraq, it is important that we continue diplomacy to pull together the broadest coalition to aid our efforts during and after the military conflict. America will need the support of our allies to rebuild Iraq once Saddam's regime is toppled. We must begin working immediately with the United Nations and our friends around the world to delineate the principles that will guide our reconstruction efforts.
