Vieira jumped in: "Who knows anymore because everything's been built on lies. Everything! I mean the entire pre-text for war."

Another quad-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, defended Bush, in the show's up top "Hot Topics" segment, by asserting that given what was assumed at the time, "we had to act." Former Good Morning America staffer Joy Behar countered: "But they were lying to us." *Bahar urged viewers of the June 17 program: "Go see that Fahrenheit 9/11. Good morning from hot and sunny Jacksonville, Florida. This weekend, let's take the time and pray for all the dad's who are serving for our country. Also, please pray for those families who will never get to see their dads and husbands come home.

Laurie ~ I watched BOR while I was "resting my eyes" last night and they came wide open http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shocked1.gif when I heard this professor out in the Looney Toons state defending those students who were supporting Hamas and Hezbollah. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif I guess I'm going to have to quit leaving the TV on when I go to bed ~ it gives me nightmares.

IM4 ~ it was hot any http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif here in http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/otree.gif country too. My "farmer's tan" is looking really good. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

Quote[/b] ]I'm just baffled on how clueless they all are. Believe Michael Moore, before you believe the POTUS

They wouldn't recognize truth if it jumped up and bit them on the lip. They were trained at the knee of BJC and that's all the truth they need. Maybe they'll recognize the truth when we get attacked again, like they said on FOX yesterday. It's just a matter of *when* not *if* ~ and a dirty bomb will turn some city into a toxic wasteland for years and years. And they seem to have no problem getting components. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Quote[/b] ] I can't for the life of me figure out why he waited this long to make it public.

Putin is a pragmatist. He didn't want to open a can of worms that he knew would lead right back to his own doorstep. Now he's in "damage control" mode. Not to mention, he has his own muslim problems, big time.

See you all this afternoon.

Un-unguinous is really just guinous, pronounced "gooeyness" and that's just how Charie like her http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpgs.

My aploogies for not contributing to the later editions of yesterday's nine pager. My emotions were running so high that several attempted posts just seemed better off in the trash. Man, I was upset! Maybe I can make through today without using "nuke", "MOAB", and the like.

RIM--that's a good memory making link. One of the few friends I've maintained contact with since high school got a '57 Chevy in 1966, and it's still in mint condition. His wife often jokes how she would like as much attention as his "Baby".

This'll probably get me in trouble, but here goes anyway...

Good morning all.

I saw that BOR was going to talk about the students who were supporting Hamas and Hezbollah but I didn’t watch it.

A declaration of war against all of these Islamic terrorist groups would put people who support them in danger of treason charges and subsequent hanging. We could let a jury decided if the MM movie is art or aid to our enemies.

I suppose that if we declared war against the Palestinian terrorists Israel would do the same and go after them with unrelenting force.

We should also name NK, Iran and Pakistan but give Pakistan a chance to surrender and turn over their nuclear weapons before we neutralize them.

This maybe the last age of freedom on this planet if we do not act while the forces of freedom have to power to act.

Good Morning All: Think we are just going to "Chill Out" today. Yesterdays heat index was 102 degrees and today is to be about the same. Wouldn't mind the temp in the 90s if the blasted humidity wasn't so high. Thank heavens for A/C.

Appears that most in the precinct along with BOR are just a little mad. The masses better wake up and take a strong stand against the terrorists. Another good reason to seal our borders and remove all the Illegals - heaven only knows who are walking our streets and plotting against the US. I'm sure there will be some action after the next attack http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Have a great day and I'll try and drop in to read all the good posts of the day.

Good Morning Everyone!

Interesting about Jefferson and libraries. *He of course sold his library to the government and it became the foundation of the Library of Congress. *He was going bankrupt and decided that he also had way too many books at Monticello. *Of course, as soon as he sold it, he started buying more books! *My kind of man.

Quote[/b] ]Here's a cute site if you're between the "Greatest Generation" and the "Boomers"

Your singin' my song. *That's me. *Seems like those boomers have been squeezin us a long time. It's tough when your toys and the cars you went dating in are considered antiques and part of nostalgia. *Oy

Quote[/b] ]They wouldn't recognize truth if it jumped up and bit them on the lip. *They were trained at the knee of BJC and that's all the truth they need. *Maybe they'll recognize the truth when we get attacked again, like they said on FOX yesterday. *

Wanna bet? *They will still say that it was America's fault. *There was one guy on the other night, a senior consultant with the Rand Corp. (with way too many college degrees) who said we could probably deal with Al Quaida if we would just "re-position" our troops. *Al Quaida just wants a "re-positioning." *This "consultant" needs to be repositioned.

Ande - congratulations on your wedding anniversary. *Lots of interesting things can happen in a garage.

Quote[/b] ]heaven only knows who are walking our streets and plotting against the US. *I'm sure there will be some action after the next attack

Well, I do know who's walking my streets. *Two blocks from my house is the mosque and apartments where the two hijackers who flew into the Pentagon on 9-11 lived and "worshipped." *They walked my streets. *They shopped in my food store. They might have used the library computers where I volunteer. *

I see the children come into the library - little girls 6-7 years old already all veiled. *It's not about "modesty" - it's about subjugating women. *There are sections of this city where that's all you see - veiled women and men in those long nightgowns. *

Hookah lounges are sprouting up too throughout the city - and tea shops. *We have a huge moslem population in this city.

I am sorry that so many of you are suffering hot humid weather. It's nice and cool here, dry too. Come and visit. Bring lots of money. The City Council needs it so they can re-decorate their offices and give themselves raises - AGAIN.

Ok - a question:

If I go out for a walk (exercise segment) and on the way out I take a cookie - does the walk still count?

The cat says "no."

Original... I have copy and pasted your family recipe and will give you my take on it later this week! My many thanks for sharing that with me. I always find family recipes to be some of the finest.

Terri- I liked your comment about the forum. We always seem to be able to agree to disagree without malice, and I think that's a cornerstone of the GOP. I vividly remember how many GOP'rs complained about Reagan and his boldness, until they saw the results of his wisdom. We've seen many folks in this forum complain about George W. Bush not being agressive enough or not being fiscally conservative (one of my complaints) as well, and hopefully they'll be patient enough to see his wisdom too. The alternative is unthinkable.

Basheva- I'm surprised by your description of S.D. It's been awhile since I've been there, but I spent every summer and every weekend there at Harbor Island. (Harbour too ;-)) If anyone has any doubts, S.D. is everything you hear about in beauty and weather. I vividly remember watching O.C. being inundated by the Vietnam boat people back in the 70's too. I found it bothersome until I came to understand their plight and heard a tear wrenching story from my "nail" lady about her escape. But those were different times, and I will honestly admit, I sometimes wince when I see Muslims here in the states. Different times, no doubt, these people scare me.

When I lamented last evening about "classics" I should have clarified and wrote literature. We have walls of novels here signed by the original authors, and they rarely get touched. (sigh) My daughters have read most of them, but trying to get my sons interested is a horse of a different color. What they don't know is that their mom is tenacious! HA!

That's all from the hot and humid state of the Tar Heels,

Laurie, I'm thinking a pumpkin and a 99 cent (so annoying, no cent sign) spray can of candy apple red paint. *JMO, don'tcha know.

It's good to be among so many readers. *A couple of years ago I went to my hometown and ran into a classmate who remarked that she never saw my brother or myself without a book. *That was an exaggeration. *You can't play "Ann of Green Gables" with a book in your hand. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Basheva, is that you doing the Grand Jete? *Ballet must be the most acrobatic dance form in the world. *And you have to look as though you're really enjoying it, also. *I thought it was hair raising, *singing and doing choreography in my 12x18 inches of space on a riser and keeping a smile on my face all at the same time. *Before we got backs for the risers, one of the ladies fell backwards off the top riser and got up and finished the song standing on the floor, complete with choreo. *Many of us have been singing, smiling and dancing while our panty hose decided to part company with our all-in-ones. *Ballet is a hundred times worse. *You must have some extremely good stories to tell about it.

I started planting yesterday, but it had to start raining, so, as I was using the tailgate of the truck as a potting shed, I had to shut everything inside. *At least it will be handy today. *

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cowboy7.gif *I transplanted my grapefruit tree yesterday. *I have a hunch I should have pulled the soil away from the roots (rootbound to the max) and spread them out. *Is this correct? *I was just going to let it die, but when push came to shove, I just couldn't do it. *We've been through so much together. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Good for you, Ande. *And thanks for the info. *I'm glad I remembered Minot. *When we first went to Alaska, everything looked as though it was covered with green velvet. *When we returned, everything was burlap brown.

Quote[/b] ]If I go out for a walk (exercise segment) and on the way out I take a cookie - does the walk still count?

It most certainly does. But I ain't no cat, either.

I'm an expert on this . . . it only doesn't count if you eat the cookie AFTER you've had your exercise segment

Laurie is absolutely right on this. *I have years of experience. *You only have your cookie during the cookie segment which is before the exercise segment. *If you have it during the exercise segment it just neutralizes that whole segment and makes saddlebags on your hips.

Time to get out of my winter robe and into my parka and mukluks. *(Why anyone from Wisconsin would go to Alaska, I have no idea. It's kind of like staying home, except on the days when it's 95 and humid in Wisconsin) * If I see a seal I'll stab it with my hand fork and drag it back to the precinct and you can all have a little nosh. *Yum. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I just had a thought http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yikes.gif Scary huh. All of you guys know how much the French Government types hate US. The thought is that the French have been paying the terrorists in Saudi Arabia to kidnapp and kill all of the Americans in the Kingdom. The reason? They want to control the oil in Saudi Arabia.

The conference of Catholic Bishops has passed a measure to ban communion to Catholic politicians. They passed the measure 30-6. Looks like that the poodle and the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/frog.gif are on the way to be excommunicated.

With Saudi Arabia and Pakistan both killing members of Al Quada, maybe we will be able to slow them down a tad. Its nice to see someone else taking action - its long overdue.

They really left it up to the Bishops to decide. I know where our Bishop stands so they won't get communion in Colorado Springs.

Our Bishop is the one that wants to refuse it to voters who support these candidates too.

Almost all elected officials in our county are Republicans anyway.

The second is, to add to Der-Alte's comment: Wisconsin weather bite's too, and Alaska I really don't know, but I do know that Wisconsin can get mighty cold! Hi Ya'll,

Basheva, I have to ask--did you ever do one of those flying things and not come down on both feet--guess the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif in me makes me ask those questions. * * When I was 62, I was still doing a mean, high-step polka--when I could find someone who could keep up with me--might still could, if I'd stayed in practice! * Gee, I miss those days, sometimes! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif

Terri, wouldn't it be great if ALL pastors, not just Catholics, did the same thing--funny thing, though, if you can call if funny--we *have a huge percentage of catholics in my area and a huge amount of those who vote http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif * *BUT, if you asked them, they would all tell you that they are against abortion! * *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif * *Really makes you wonder where people's heads are when they go to vote, doesn't it http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes2.gif

On reading--my reading habits have been sorely lacking since I've been on the computer, but I still love to read! * I used to go in the bathroom and read at night so my daddy couldn't see that the light was on -- our bedroom was right next to theirs and the bathroom was in the back of the house, so I got away with that for a long time! * *I have one son who used to read himself to sleep with encyclopedias, if he didn't have another good book! * *And, all of my kids love reading--they had the benefit of having great teachers back in the "good old days" when those things were actually being taught and caught! * *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif * *

Gee, one of their teachers even kept a http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bible.gif on her desk-- http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yikes.gif *Can you believe that http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif *

Ya'll remind your compadres that TRIVIA is tomorrow and we want to fill up 10 pages with HAPPY STUFF, for a change! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif

BTW, Charie, you & Basheva might collaborate on a book--it would be fun to have it set in something like a lunch-time exchange of stories, etc. * *Hmmm, I think that would be a really fun read! * *And, you could do it all through emails, possibly! * * I'd buy a copy, if you didn't take pity on an http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/granny.gif and just give her one for such an excellent idea! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Well, where shall I begin? *

At the beginning I suppose....

Quote[/b] ]Basheva, I have to ask--did you ever do one of those flying things and not come down on both feet--

Stormy: *grand jeté (one of those flying things in the link I gave) comes down on one foot (on good days *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ). *Now if you are asking if I ever came down on my nether end in that particular step - the answer is "no." * But, there were other times.......

The question about the walk (exercise segment) versus the cookie is moot. *Lunch negated that particular problem. *So, an additional exercise segment is called for plus washing the redwood patio furniture. *And, there will be no more food passeth by my teeth today.

The guys can skip the next part - it's chick chat.

However, the day was not completely squandered. *I did just happen by Nordstroms, and they just happened to have a sale, and it just happened to be in the evening dress/theater department. *And there just happened to be two BEE-U-T-FUL evening dresses that just happened to be my size and I just happened to have my mastercard with me which Nordstroms just happened to take. *They are both resting in my closet at this moment.

I must keep up my reputation as the world's best dressed dance critic. *I tried to give Nordstoms my press credentials, but they insisted on the mastercard. *

end of chick chat

Polka is not easy - it's very fast and quite complex. *It's within the genre of folk dance which was often done competitively (people showing off) and so the tempo and complexity was ramped up. *The polka has also been incorporated into some ballets.

One of the things that puzzles me .....we have a very large Hispanic population in this part of the country. *They, generally speaking, live very conservative life styles: religious, family values, against abortion - and yet they vote democratic. *It's hard to understand. *At the regular naturalization ceremonies we have here the demos show up in strength to register the new voters, but in the last few years we have managed to be there too. *Interestingly enough, at first the demos tried to get the Republicans banned from being present. *Typical liberal thought.

Same thing here, Basheva! Just really puzzling. We now have a congressman in Wa. who helped Republicans get elected until he decided to run--switched to the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif party so fast it would make your head swim. His family owns a business here that makes millions making c-rations (probably not the right word, any more) for the servicemen! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

And, to me, dancing is just not fun if it isn't fast! It can be a fast two-step, polka, waltz, jitterbug--but, slow dancing just never appealed to me--maybe it's cause I'm Baptist and you know what they say about what people will think if they see Baptists dancing. If you don't know, I won't go into it here. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif

Bet you look beautiful in those evening dresses, too--not my cup of tea, but I know some love that kind of dressing up. I still have the long dresses I wore to my kids weddings. They're homemade, but not bad looking, if I do say so myself. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

[Another quad-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, defended Bush, in the show's up top "Hot Topics" segment, by asserting that given what was assumed at the time, "we had to act." Former Good Morning America staffer Joy Behar countered: "But they were lying to us." *Bahar urged viewers of the June 17 program: "Go see that Fahrenheit 9/11. It will tell you a lot about what's going on." * *I'm just baffled on how clueless they all are. ]

I am constantly amazed by how otherwise intelligent people believe this garbage. *I got into an argument with an attorney I know who insisted that the administration lied about Saddam. *I said that everyone else, including France, believed that Saddam had WMDs and she said, "but France didn't support war". *

I was stunned. *The words weren't lies, as long as you didn't act on them. *That was her attitude. *Bush could have claimed that Saddam was a threat and it would have been okay, as long as he didn't do anything about it.

It is almost as if they don't see the disconnect from logic of their own statements.

The Johnson story is looking a little strange. The Saudis killed the person who they say had Johnson and now they say they do not have Johnson’s body after all. A person of average curiosity might wonder how this guy was found and killed is such short order if the Saudis didn’t already know all about him and where he may be holding Mr. Johnson.

They do see it, but the disconnect is there because the logic doesn't fit into their preconceived agenda.

The conclusion was made before the facts were examined.

It's sort of like oral sex isn't sex and lying under oath isn't perjury, or having sex in the oval office is Clinton's private business, or smoking isn't inhaling, or drinking too much tea excuses collecting political donations in a religious venue, or the whole thing was invented by the vast right wing conspiracy, or hallucinating about inventing the internet - ad nauseam.

So, claiming a threat is ok as long as you don't act upon it fits right in. Makes sense to me.

So true Primrose. I smell something fishy with the Saudis on this entire Johnson murder. Does anyone recall in 1996 how the Saudis executed the suspects in the Khobar Towers bombing before the FBI could interrogate them?

Methinks they managed to bring these killers to justice a little too quick for the average bear.

And yes I'm a major packer fan, even got to see them kick Jacksonvilles butt since I've lived here.

Pretty bad when I have to live in another State in order to get a ticket for a game to see my home State's team in action!

Used to love to go to the dunes in the summer, but it started getting too crowded. I think the last time I went to Lake Michigan was when I was in High School~~a long time ago.
