LANDOVER, MD (GOPUSA News) -- On Monday, the President and First Lady Laura Bush, along with the Gov. of Maryland and First Lady and the Lt. Gov. and his wife, attended worship services at First Baptist Church of Glendarden. The worship service was dedicated to the honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Beginning his speech with a bit of humor, the President told those in attendance how honored he was for the invitation to be there and how fitting it was to be able to honor King inside a church while praising not only the words of King and the clarity of his vision, but of King's faith in God as well.

The President commented, "It is the Church that gives us the notion of equality and justice."

Bush said that even though progress had been made, there were still those in society who are prejudiced and who are still hurting others. The problems, Bush noted, are coupled with a school system that does not elevate children so they can learn.
