Did you watch the president's speech last night? How do you think he did? The president has promised to build a new state of the art prison in Baghdad and raze Abu Ghairab. Is that the right thing to do? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
James Taranto, Best of the Web, reported on the following passage from a NY Times story. "Iraq has become one of the most dangerous places in the world from which to report, with enormous potential for journalists to be deliberately targeted by either side or caught in the crossfire." *The accusation that Coalition troops deliberately target journalists was quietly slipped out of the story later. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

Link of the Day: Moms Who Support the President (http://mysite.verizon.net/vze8g3q5/)
Words of Wisdom: "For me, CBS has become "the enemy within", and I hope never to watch the network again. I think most Americans ought to reflect on the results of their irresponsible and unpatriotic behavior and perhaps narrow their viewing options by one network. The next time America or Americans suffer at the hands of terrorists, thank CBS." Pat Boone *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Well, nothing is stopping him from moving to another country...I'm sure that Canada or France would be thrilled to have him.
I'm still waiting for the Pentagon Channel to re-run the President's speech...I think it will be at noon.
No plans for me today...just looking up more info on Luxembourg..but for now, I'm off to read the news.

I finished reading the posts from after I went to bed last night. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif *
I saw the Christian Exodus article on WND yesterday too, and was curious. *So I checked out their website (initially expecting to find a bunch of pleas for $$). *And then I joined their yahoo group, just to see what they had to say. *I have my own reservations about how they are claiming that they will back down if the Feds say they will take military action. *OK, who doesn't think that we will send in the military to keep SC. *We have military installations in SC. *We aren't just going to give it away without a fight. *I understand their desires to be able to live in a more Christian America, but this wy just isn't going to work. *This won't be a Civil War again. *I am guessing that they will never get enough followers for it to get to that. *But if they do somehow get their 50K followers that they want, move them to SC, attempt to secede from the Union, and the gov says no...do they really think that they will be able to control 50k people? *It's safe to bet that at least some of those people are not going to back down quietly...so there will be some rebels. *When I was reading posts on their group, I saw one subject line that was to that effect...when do we stand up and fight?
OK, that's just my 2 cents. *I look forward to hearing other views, I'm sure that I am missing alot, and don't have the full story. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif *I must be missing something, as from my point of view, this is totally impossible...

I didn't get to see the whole speech last night http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif ~ I was just too bushed (did I really say that) http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif after my marathon mowing yesterday. Which, BTW, is not done yet. Still have about four acres left to mow. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/melt.gif However, I did see excerpts on the talk shows and thought he did an excellent job and answered a lot of "dangling" questions. Of course there will be those (care to guess who?) who will delight in tearing him down. I think Neal Boortz said it rather succinctly:
Quote[/b] ]The president is making a speech tonight. Just remember this. No matter what he says or how he carries himself by tomorrow morning the media will be calling his speech a failure. Guaranteed. ~ Neal Boortz
I'm not at all surprised about Joe Lieberman. He seems to be the last remaining Democrat in Congress with a scintilla of sense. Howdy Y'All,
Fresh http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpgs and http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallchockk.jpgs are here to munch on as we re-hash the President's speech. Enjoy.
The best thing about the speech was that he laid out a plan. I have no idea if it's a good plan or a bad plan; I'm sure the dems will let us know. It is a plan that was articulated by the Nation's senior foreign policy official and the Commander-in-Chief, delivered directly to the people. The President needed to do that and, in my opinion, did it quite well. Even with the scraped nose and eyebrow, he seemed very Presidential and very much in control.
Quote[/b] ]Now I am really ashamed to carry an American passport. Not even the foulest atrocities of Adolf Hitler ever shocked me so badly as these photographs did.
Let me help you out, Mr. Thompson. Every United States Post Office is a Passport Office. Please turn your passport in TODAY. Then get the h#ll outta our country. The people who are entitled, and PROUD to live in this great nation are smart enough to correctly distinguish between true atrocity and hyped-up shennanigans. Just leave. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif
Hats off to Senator Joe Lieberman, a true American.

oh dear...I opened my big mouth, and put my nose into other people's business...where I was not interested (other than curiousity).
I posted on the Christian Exodus forum. I was really curious if they had considered that of the states they were considering, they picked the one with the largest US military population (initially, I forgot all about the National Guard Armories...just thinking about all the installations of other branches was mind boggling enough). So, I asked them. My answers so far have consisted of one person stating that they will shut them down or convert them for their own use, and another saying that they will need to have their own military and that they will have to remove the US forces, since they will not want a foreign power occupying. Let's have a show of hands....who here thinks that the Marines are going to give up Parris Island?! Amongst the other bases/posts/installations. I kinda got the impression from the answers I received that they had not even considered the fact that there were military installations in the state. Gave me some serious insight into the group.

Good Morning All: Commodore, hope your lady is doing well and ready to come home. I'm going to have to concentrate since all I can hear is the roofers walking over the roof.
The President gave a good speech, just didn't seem to have the same zest as some of the previous ones. He gave the answers all the media was clamoring for, but I'm quite sure it won't satisfy them. FOX and Friends are taking calls and E-mails re the speech and so far it appears that most people were satisified - you have to remember these are FOX viewers.
Hope everyone has a good day and all you shoppers find the bargain you have always been looking for.

My husband and I watched the president's speech together last night. Mike (hub) said, "I just CAN'T understand why the democrats HATE him so! They may not agree with all his policies, but he's an honest and honorable man! I keep searching my own heart and listening to him and I just don't understand why thay can't see it."
That may be the crux of this whole "Bush Haters" thing. Any good, honorable person (Like Joe Lieberman, or Zeller or a pitifully few others) can see the honesty and sincerity of our president, even when they don't adhere to every one of his policies.
Claire, you have just been added to my own personal prayer list.
About Abu Ghraib; This is a personal anecdote, not evidence . I was at the US Army Museum in Newport news, VA, when I found myself face to face with the front gate of Dachau Concentration Camp (on exhibit there). There were no museum officials around and the gate was at arms length. I started to reach out to touch the artifact and an unseen force seemed to hold back my hand and stop me within an inch of the concrete. I couldn't touch it! Deeper in the museum was a chunk of the Berlin Wall, which I was able to touch. I've wondered over this experience for a long time. The razing of Abu Ghraib is probably a good thing. However, maybe a piece of saddam's regime should remain somewhere on exhibit so the Iraqi people won't forget (if they haven't already) what America sacrificed to free them from Saddam. Although I agreed whole heartedly with the President's speech, I still have reservations about people who allowed this dictator to flourish for 30 years, did very little to free themselves, and then do nothing but criticize the ones who did free them. Am I being too cynical here? The president DID mention a march of support which was the very first time I heard about it! Not even FOX covered that demonstration. I was stunned by that. It never was even on NewsMax or the Drudge Report!

Good morning http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif ns!! Another overcast day. Sure hope it doesn't rain anymore for awhile. Most of the fields, unless they're hilly, look like swimming pools. Of course, the local news media are scurrying around to the farmers to find out how disastrous the whole thing is and there are always some farmers willing to oblige. One farmer last night, was shaking his head and opining how he didn't know if he'd be able to reseed his cornfields in time. Well, seeing as how the corn is only up about an inch, if the fields dry out within a week, I think there'll be no problem. Corn isn't growing right now anyhow. It's too dqrned cold. Many crops will grow in cold weather but corn won't grow unless the soil and air temperatures are warm.
I didn't hear much of the president's speech but did see the picture of him online after he'd taken his spill. Ouch! That really must have hurt. His hand looked as though he must have landed on some gravel. I remember having a few of those punctures in my hand and knees as a kid. They also hurt for a long time.
Isn't South Carolina where Fort Sumter was fired upon? In those days there was always a military presence there, too. I think this group must be a bunch of http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif s if they had never even considered the fact of a huge U.S. military there. Why is it that religions are such a magnet for the nutcases of the world? Not that I blame them for wanting a more god-fearing world. I'd like to see that, myself. But to say you're going to secede from the union is absolutely off the wall. This is what President Bush needs more of. Now I know why President Lincoln gave the Indians such short shrift back in the early 1860s. I'm sure he had enough on his plate fighting a war without having the Indians pestering him constantly. Just trying to take care of the mess the venal Indian agents had caused would have taken up all his time. My great-great-great-great grandfather was one of them and he had a legitimate beef with the government. They had signed a treaty and the Indians were supposed to get so much food in return for staying on the reservation and not raiding. Most of the money allotted for food went to the Indian agents. My gggggrandfather went to Detroit, with other tribal members, by canoe. He was 95 at the time and did his share of the paddling. They then took "the cars" (train) to Washington. The lone white man with them as a translator passed the hat among the other passengers along the way so they had enough money to continue their (fruitless) trip on the way back. How the heck did I get on this subject?
Hunter Thompson needs his head examined very carefully. I'd gladly part his hair for the doctor. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smash.gif He must have been out getting popcorn when some of the documentaries came on showing the "experiments" of Dr. Mengele. How about the one where the pre-pubescent boy was hit in the head every day to see how long it would take before his brain was damaged and in what way it would be damaged. He ended up with his knees bending backward so he walked like a bird. Or how about the stacks of starved dead bodies, piled up just like cordwood. Or what about the gas chamber floors that had to be re-cemented every couple of months because people were tearing it up with their bare, bleeding hands trying to escape the Zyklon B. People like this make me see the only reason I can think of for euthanasia. D'ya think good ol' Hunter would be first in line for this here 'speriment?
Goodness, every subject ends in a rant. I'm still drinking the same brand of coffee so it can't be that.
Must go.

Hello everyone.
I for one..cannot figure out why the dims hate President Bush so...but he is a honorable and good man. That could be the reason..and they still think he stole the election from boring gore.I have been up in arms over Fox and friends this morning. They have trotted out every dim they could find..to argue about and put down the Presidents speech and him. I told them so and more!
Any idea why the presidents numbers are down in the polls? The constant and never ending barrage from the leftist media and left wing politicans. They never say anything good about the President or his policies...only bad. The news media...only flaunts the bad...never any good. They want another dim president in the WH and as I told fox...they would sell their souls to get one there. Finally after 8 years of a president that was morally corrupt and almost destroyed our miltiary...we have a President who is a godly man and who tries to do right in the world. I will never understand why the dims loved clinton so. Never! I still see pictures of barbara streisand in my head hugging clinton...UGH!
Pray for our president and our military!

I have to agree with you Flower, regarding Fox news. In their efforts to be fair and balanced they forget a couple of critical points. No one on the left side is fair so balancing them with a reasonable conservative is imposable and when you look at the media as a whole the liberal horde still has several megatons of advantage. The only thing that saves this country from the ruinous liberal agenda is the good sense of the American majority. What worries me is that a lot of people who think they are paying attention are watching the most advanced propaganda teams (alphabet) on the plants. Sure, the Arab networks lie as best they can but Arabs’ lives are based on lies and in their hearts they know that every thing they see is a lie. I once worked with a retired USAF guy who worked as a liaison for the AF in Iran. He said that the lie is the Arabs’ primary tool. It is thought to be foolhardy to let anyone around you know the truth.
Quote[/b] ] I still see pictures of barbara streisand in my head hugging clinton...UGH!
Those are two of a kind but the most letting example of why the liberals loved for Clinton was when one of the big three lady reporters (it may have been Dian S.) gained sexual satisfaction just telling about the way Bill looked at her legs on AF1 while they were alone playing cards. As the sexual revolution peaked many of the feminine liberals based their vote for Clinton on the fact that they knew he would sleep with them.

GOOD MORNING, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/members.gif
That is my "formal" greeting -- of course, there is nothing formal about me, so reckon I should just dispense with formalities. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
So much happening in one day--got too busy with "work" to get into the precinct and post--even missed the President's speech. * *If anyone else in here missed it and wants to see and hear for themselves what was said, the video is here:
Just Click ON The Most Popular Video--President's Speech On Iraq (http://www.cspan.org/homepage.asp)
Claire, so sorry to hear that you are doing poorly, healthwise, but the message you give out is anything but "poor". * It's a great message to all of us and it certainly shows the strength that Only GOD can give us! * We are so proud of you and wish, and PRAY, so much for your health to return! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif
To the commodore, we are also praying for a speedy recovery of your "lady". * Although, we know she's quiet, we also know that she must be the strength behind you in a powerful way! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif
LAW, there are just some things I refuse to be concerned about, at this point--such as 50K people wanting to disrupt a whole country. * *Although, it's possible their message may get them some attention, unless they are "homosexuals" or part of the "ANSWER" group, there's not much likelihood that the media will even cover any of their attempts! * *Of course, if they are GW Haters, that will get them lots of attention from the media--probably more than the first two! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif
Re the above: *I do appreciate your spunk in even posting to such a group--hope you didn't give away your address! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif
DA, Good to hear that you are "listening" to someone else work, for a change, instead of trying to do that one for yourself! * *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif
LAURIE, did I miss your anniversary or is that today http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif * Anyway, I wish the best and the happiest year, for the two of you, that you've ever had and I wish you at least 26 more! * *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif * *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif

FLOWER, you & GR seem to be in fine fettle this morning and, of course, our trusty DAVE_where would we be, doughnut-wise, without you http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif * *Whether I post or not, I do always taking a break and coming in here to read what everyone else has to say! * *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yes.gif
CHARIE, when are you going to write that book http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif * Looks like, with all the knowledge you have, it could be a whole series of books on "the Life & Times of An "Extraordinary" American". * Holler if you just want someone to proof it for you! *
Better get http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/boots.gif and get back to my big http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mouse.gif killin' and see what I can get accomplished today! * *I wish the very best day for all who may have been here or those to yet come in! * *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif

Saw the president’s speech last night. It was a good one. I don’t why Dick Morris is even sticking his fat nose into Republican business.
Of course, the usual supects are all up in arms. They are hopping mad that Mr. Bush even went on tv last night. Most of them are calling it a propaganda speech.
They should tear down the Abu Ghraib prison. It has been the symbole of Saddam’s brutality. Sure wish that the Americans hadn’t used it to house the detainees. It should have razed when the statue of Saddam was taken down.
There is speculation that General Ricardo Sanchez is about to get the axe. The usual suspects are the ones that him out. They are saying that he is the one that authorized the Abu Ghraib thing.

I was just watching the local Austin new channel and it is more liberal than the population. Then I was looking for a local Bush hater’s wed site when I ran across this news in the Daily Texan news paper. The DT also has tons of anti Bush propaganda.
Quote[/b] ]medical professionals at The University of Texas - UHS have been testing patients seen because of sore throats for pharyngeal gonorrhea, gonorrhea of the throat. Several students have been diagnosed with the disease, according to Amy Waggoner, a UHS nurse practitioner.
This article is not about the threat from this disease but the humiliation of being tested. Another example of liberal thinking. Encourage oral sex as an end of school celebration but accept no responsibility for the consequences.
I just saw a girl on TV watching her girlfriend getting a hair cut and noticed that she had a metal impalement near her eye, which reminded me about a story my wife’s niece told about the day care where she works. She also has a daughter and one day she asked the little girl about one of the other caretakers and the little girl didn’t know the caretaker’s name so she said “You know, the one with the nail in her eye lid.”

Hi Everyone...
Greeting from Canada. *We're going to have a Federal Election at the end of June and we're working hard to remove the Liberals from power.

First, thank you all for your prayers. I am truly grateful. And Commodore, hope your wife responds to treatment, and is welll and back home with you soon. My prayers are with you. Actually all of you great people are in my prayers every day.
Listened to the Prez's speech and thought it was pretty good. The poor man is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. He can't possibly announce all the military plans because the whole Middle East would know. The Libs claim he is too secretive, but knowing congress as he does, he knows the leaks would just pour out.Maybe the Blimptons should have kept some things sacred.
Saw some interesting stats. FDR{dem}took us to WW11. Germany didn't attack us, Japan did.lost 405,000 lives. HST{dem}finoished that , led us to Koream who also didn't attack us. Lost 54,000 lives.JFK started VietNam, who never attacked us, and LBJ{both dems} turned it into a quagmire. Lost 58,000 lives. Bill took us to Bosnua without UN or Freench OK, andd they never attacked us. He was offered OBL ona silver tray, and did nothing. Our guy has liberated 2 countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled AlQueda, put nuke inspect. in Libya, Iran and N.Korea and got rid of saddam. We've lost 700 plus soldiers in less than 3 years. So who is the best president so far?http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
Enough from me today. BLESS YOU ALL. GOD BLESS OUR PRESIDENT, OUR GREAT TROOPS AND OUR WONDERFUL COUNTRY. See ya later.

Greetings and felicitations all. *It's still morning here, but for most of you I imagine it's afternoon. *
I didn't get to see President Bush last night because we had a previously planned engagement, but I did record his speech. *I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. *I've tuned into FOX hoping to hear how ihis plan was received, and they've moved on to other things. *That tells me that the dems couln't find too much to harp about. *That's a good thing. *
LAW, I'm totally amazed that anyone would come up with the idea to "hijack" SC or any other state for themselves. *Totally idiotic, whether there are high percentages of military there or not. *I'm sure they are well-meaning and I can understand their need of a sanctuary from the craziness of what is going on in this country morally, but this is not the answer, and I fear that the liberals will try to portray these people as the voice of the conservatives, and thus say how crazy and irrational we are. *

Claire, I add my prayers and good wishes to the others already offered in your behalf. *You are an inspiration to all of us.
Commodore, my prayers also for your Lady, and for you. *
DA, glad you hear you are improving so rapidly. *Keep on keeping on. *You'll soon be better than new.

just for the record:
I am no longer a member of the yahoo group attached to that group of people trying to move to SC and secede from the Union. The posts have gotten to the point that they literally scared me. They started calling for retired military members to become their military in their uprising against the US military. They also have members that proclaim membership of certain militia groups. There was also a large rise in racist comments/members/propaganda which was not suppressed/condemned by the founding members. As a matter of fact, one member even started describing racial crimes that he had committed. I am seriously regretting the fact that I posted anything there. I was just curious about their thoughts.
In other news, I'm waiting for my mom to call me. The priest from the church I grew up in lives in Conyers, GA. I hope that everything is fine and under control there now. No American news on here right now (we are getting a re-run of Dateline, or something like that), and not that I expected it to be on the German news, but all they are covering is the school torture case going on here (it's on Drudge too, if you are curious).

I was wrong earlier. General Sanchez is being relieved in Iraq, not because of Abu Graib. He is being promoted to a four star and will be given the Southern Command. No word on when this will take place.
The people of Beantown are up in arms, because of the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif convention. The Dims want to close the downtown area to all of the businesses and the tourists. They are citing security reasons (Republican demonstraters). The BIG DIG which took years and years of inconveniece to the peple of Boston until it was finally opened, will have to be closed again due to its proximity to the Fleet Center (named after a bank, not an enema http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif )and the cab drivers are being banned from the city unless they have spanking new cars. The smoking ban is being lifted in the restaurants so the dims can smoke to their hearts content, which will be ok because the restaurants will be empty of tourists and residents because of the closure of I93 and The ban on older taxis. The Quincy Market and Freedom Trail, Government Center and the North End, all wonderful tourist attractions will effectively be cut off by these changes. Most of the businesses in Quincy Market are small businesses, some as small as a push-cart, and can't afford the loss of even one day's businessmostly derived from tourism. The Fleet Center, which replaced the old Boston Garden, is so centrally located that it will be impossible to provide adequate security without totally paralizing the city. Did the people of Boston realize what they were getting into?

How can Americans "believe" again when all Kerry does is Lie Lie Lie?
Have you seen the new anti kerry symbol? It's a flip flop type sandal with a red line through it in a red circle ha ha ha

P.S. *I agree RIM that the dirt, grass and grime in you hair today doesn’t mean that you aren’t elegant. *The demure way you use your steel wire bath brush is what makes you elegant.
If kerry puts off accepting the dem nomination can http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wmoon.gif pretend she found it in the trash and run in kerry’s place?
Now that all of the SF same sex marriage licenses are no good What happens the all of those people who have been living together as if the were married?

Greetings from the trenches! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif *Welcome to our new members. Just got off my weekly conference call for Bush-Cheney county campaign managers and major chairmen. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *I can't believe how swamped I have become with 72-hour effort stuff, and the imminent test drive week in June. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *At least I hope most of you consider that to be a good excuse for not being on here more. Our county is still trying our darndest to finalize a headquarters. In the next 10 days, I also have to call/e-mail enough volunteers to get about 18 people per day during the week, for a Monday to Friday to make phone calls 5 to 8 PM, and about 40-50 people for a Saturday to go door-to-door in selected precincts, for the test drive. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif *Incidentally, if Joe or Matt are reading this, this most definitely includes YOU guys!!!! The Saturday door walkers are in addition to people for the phonebank most of the day. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tearhair.gif *I also have to pick out which precincts in our county would be good to walk for the Saturday in question, and submit whatever precincts in our county would not be good to go door-to-door in at all (the entire campaign).
Claire, I mentioned it yesterday, but of course, my prayers are still with you to get better. Likewise for the Commodore's wife. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif *May all our members be blessed not only with health, but with continued resolve, confidence, and determination for our president. We are the first line of defense against the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif idjits. Don't lost hope, even if you need to take a break. BBL....

Thanks for missing me guys. That makes me feel a little bit better. Bummed out is a good word for it, Flower. The news just adds to my already bummed out condition. But I'll try to quit spreading http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/raincloud.gif and get the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif to shining.
Those who know me well know this isn't my usual condition. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Pat, you should come on IM sometime so we can catch up. I can talk just about anytime you see me there except for Sunday nights when we're working hard.
GR, Mary-Lou, surely you know all those things are the president's fault. Why just ask http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/frog.gif
No Mary-Lou, you are not a lurker. Pat's a lurker. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif
Btw, I worked with Pat for years at another website best left unmentioned. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *I forget what the exact figure was but we learned that there was something like 10-20, maybe more, people lurking for every person who posted, so your words reach much further than you know.
Remember that and aggravate a liberal. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/poke.gif

The Commodore & his Lady unto the Forum: greetings.
First out of the box: the Commodore thanks all for their support and prayers on his Lady's behalf. She has been one of the two major supports in the Commodore's life these past 14 years; the other is the Almighty Ruler of the Universe, acting through the Church and the Masonic Order, in which the Commodore is active -- Master of his Lodge this year. (The Commodore followed his Father into the Order, as so many sons do.) And in all three realms, the Commodore thanks Him for the Lady's being there for him.
Now a message from the Lady. She states that her symptoms were diagnosed as bronchitis, coupled with her diabetes. Unfortunately, many of the tests were inconclusive, requiring more detailed examinations and an extended stay in the local Hospital. The Wednesday will mark her third day in Hospital; further prayers are requested on her behalf. And again, to cite an old Radio program, *"God is just a prayer away."
"When no other understands,
Go to God; tell Him your plans.
His Ear is never closed
To your cares and woes!
God is just a prayer away;
Meet Him, each hour night or day!
His Love, so divine,
Touch His heart, and thine,
For God is just a prayer away!"
At the same time, both the Commodore & his Lady join all in Forum in prayer for the President of the United States, George Walker Bush. May he be returned to office this year, and complete, in Lincoln's words, "the unfinished task lying before us", and when he steps down in 2009, we have a worthy successor to take GW's place. We know of two: Jeb Bush & Rudy Guilani. Perhaps Zell Miller?
While we are in prayer for the President, the Troops, & the Troopettes (a phrase from M*A*S*H), there is one other former President whom we should continue to pray for -- Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th President of the United States, and his Lady Nancy. The "Old Timer's Disease" continues to work its deadly activity, keeping RWR somewhat hearty, but depriving him of his mind. Yet he has been preserved these 93 years. In the Reagan Birthday Celebrations here in Forum, the Commodore more or less wrote the Reagan Elegy, concluding with: "R I P, Ronald Wilson Reagan. You have done your full duty to America."
(Note to Terri the Administratrix -- please look up the Commodore's post re President Reagan and repost it?)
Again, thanks to all, and the Commodore will post in The Precinct Wednesday night with the latest medical bulletin.

Mama Cat, I'm sorry, I forgot to answer your question. *My gggggrandfather was Chief Buffalo (I think Waishiki) of the Chippewas/Ojibways/Anishinabes (This whole thing with the names has always puzzled me- I always thought it was Chippewa and now I *hear these other two names - it's amusing but confusing!) * He lived in the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior, just off Bayfield, Wisconsin. *The only way I found out about him was because a white man lived with him, married one of his daughters and wrote a book about him. *He was fairly well known because he was a signatory to the Treaty of 1854 and made that trip to Washington. *He has a marble grave marker on Madeline Island, which I have visited.
There now, more than you wanted to read. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Finally heard the story about the Iraqi men having their chopped -off hands replaced on the local evening news. *I can't stand watching the national news so I don't know if there was mention there or not. *Seeing as how this story first made the Wall Street Journal on May 14th, I think it's just about time, don't you?
Just realized the above paragraph sounds as though the hands were replaced on the evening news. You know what? To he[[ with it!!
God's blessings on your Lady, Commodore, I hope she'll be home soon. *One of my uncles was a Mason, too.

GR, you are incorrigible!!
Well, my trousers are all done except for buttons but I think one leg is shorter than the other. *I can't try them on The Hub because they're way too big for him. *Oh well, I'll just tell Bri, he can stand with one foot up on something and no one will ever know. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif *That reminds me of the joke that ends: *That poor man is so crippled, but look how nice his suit fits!! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif *I suppose that isn't very p.c., but it's one I thought very funny, regardless.
Also just realized that our wagon is going to be way too short. *I have put out an apb for another wagon at least 25 feet long. *I should have realized it was too short, but 18 feet sounds very big to me. *And, I guess it is, if you're talking about a room, but not for a flatbed. *Alas and alack!! *Hope someone can help me out of this pit of difficulty into which I have fallen.
My friend flew back from Wyoming and she said most of Wisconsin looks as though it's under water.
Time to get into the forum and prance around a bit.
Seeya!!

Charie and GR, you are going to be the death of me someday. I feel better already and it's all your fault. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif

Charie, it's back in the news because the men had their hands in the Oval Office today. You know what. That doesn't look quite right either but I'm just going to take your approach. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif
Commodore, I'm very glad to hear your lady is doing better. I'm not sure what the article was but I will try to remember to look for it for you.
