Our President is under attack domestically from many sources ranging from the ridiculous and hypocritical photo issue to news that there were terror warnings containing information about Bin Laden before 9/11. He needs our extra prayers right now.

WOWWWWEEEEEEEE! The Avs won! I couldn't take it anymore. My eyelids were like sandpaper and I finally stopped my fight with the sandman at the second intermission. It was already 1-0, so I didn't really miss anything after all! I must admit to being a little shaky when I got up this morning and ran downstairs to nhl.com to see what the eventual outcome was! Oh, this next series against the Redwings is gonna be good. The Avs are one of my favorites (I TOLD you Forsberg was THE BEST), and now they are playing the HATED Redwings. Geez, I hope we don't have to endure late night games again through THIS series! :turquoiserolleyes: I really became a big hockey fan when both of my boys played hockey themselves. When you have a personal interest in the game, it becomes easy to "get involved"! Me too, though....my first love is pro football....DOLPHINS AND BEARS!!! There are a few teams to "hate" there too......especially OAKLAND (get ready all you Raider fans)!! LOL

It's another driveway day, so I'll be "in" most of today in between supervising the workers!! LOL

Good morning all. I'm up early this morning, as my mom forgot her glasses and I had to take them to her work for her so she could see without having a headache. So much for sleeping in . . .
My favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys. I really wish they would get a passing attack back to help Emmitt Smith out. If they did that, they might win enough to be playoff material, seeing as how their defense is 4th overall and their passing defense is 1st.
Of course, living in Ohio, I always root for the Browns and Bengals. I was surprised when the Browns ALMOST made the playoffs last year, just 3 years out of expansion.
You can imagine the weird feeling I get when I find myself rooting for two teams in one game (Bengals vs. Browns, or Cowboys vs. Patriots, for example).
Anyway, back to something important . . .

We've all seen where President Bush had advanced warning that somethign was going to happen involving Bin Laden and hijacking airplanes. However, those of us who pay attention also know that there was no way anyone thought the hijackings would be suicidal missile missions, either. At worst, they were figuring on some political statement being made, and winding up in Havanna, or something.
I can hardly wait to see the establishment media (CNN, CBS, NBC, and ABC TV) twist this into something it isn't. After all, in their ratings effort, the truth often takes a back seat. Thus the reason I trust only Fox News, and even then I prefer to check elsewhere on the Web before I believe everything they say.

Well, now we come to the most important issue of the week for me. This past Tuesday, the Porstmouth, OH WB/UPN station went off the air temporarily due to equipment failure. I could not see Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. The previous week had been a cliffhanger, with Buffy and Tara getting shot at the end. Thus, not seeing this episode left me sad and mad. But, I am told they will re-air the episode this Saturday, possibly during one of their movie slots (as well as about 3 other shows that were missed).
I have already seen previews to the next episode, however, so I know which character died (wanna bet it isn't Buffy?), but I wanna see how Willow deals with it. I hear she goes on a rampage, and she and Buffy are in for a big duel this coming week. Should be interesting, seeing as how they were friends the entire series. And, Buffy often inspires my stories. That show is how I learned how to write the love aspect of a story, and the angst one as well.

Well, I better go. I got things to do (like clean my room from all the college unpacking)

I'm not blaming Bush for 9/11 as the media will pant and slobber about....HOWEVER.... #1 - he has kept Tenet, the Clintonista, in his Cabinet when he should have been thrown the "h" out of there pronto. *Tenet would have EVERY reason to downplay any of this in light of Clinton's COMPLETE whitewash of all terror strikes on HIS watch. #2 - at a minimum, with the information we are now understanding that the government had, ALL security personnel (especially at airports) should have been PROFILING all M.E. people. *Whether "hijacking" meant then what it means now is beside the point IMO. *We apparently knew that a "hijacking" was a serious threat, yet we didn't profile for the group of people presenting this threat? *We're PC'ing ourselves to death, literally in this case.

According to another article I read, we knew it was such a big threat that we even created a new department..somethin g like "Office of Intelligence" to deal with these extremely credible reports of threats.

Our #1 priority has GOT to be getting over this PC crapola. *It WILL be the death of this great country if we don't IMO. *There is no doubt in my mind that IF we had profiled those that were a direct credible threat to us from the moment the threat was received, we could have very possibly at least minimized 9/11, if the security people were really doing their job.

Lady Parrish, I've never been around the Delphi Forums much. I did spend a little time at EZ Board and found that to be rather cumbersome. I think you'll like this software once you are used to the differences. Angelus, how nice of you to get up early to help out your Mom. I was glad to see Cleveland get another team. The Broncos spent some strange days in the Dogpound.

As to the information about what Bush knew and when he knew it, I think it is a prime example of 20/20 hindsight. Yes, it would have been good if he had dumped all Clinton holdovers sooner but I'm not sure it would have mattered. I think we have to look at how difficult it is to make changes in these huge agencies post 9/11. It was many times harder before.

I am really intent on what happens next. I do think it's important to look back at both what Bush and Clinton did or did not do but I have to remember that they were working in a different climate as far as Congress and the American public were concerned.

I remember the incredible shock of realizing that something like 9/11 could happen in this country. We learned a lot that day and in the days since.

As far as the Bush/9-11 story is concerned, I think the important thing is to let the story play out for a few more days to see what exactly was known before 9-11. Presidents get briefed all the time on all sorts of potential threats. And, as Terri mentioned, we had a totally different definition of what a "hijacking" was before 9-11. The events of that day forever changed how we look at a lot of things.

Boy, I couldn't agree more Terri. There was alot of silence going on in this house as we all sat there dumbfounded watching the news all day.

I don't think that our government was quite as "dumbfounded" as we were though. I am certainly not saying that they knew the when's, who's, where's, etc., but they all knew of the credible threat. The reports of "Osama" were almost instantaneous.

I agree with Bobby. This needs to all play out in the next few days and/or weeks. Blaming Bush, IMO, is ridiculous thus far....but I do believe the CIA and FBI are in for some rough times...and they should be IMO.

I've just posted a very interesting Mort Kondrake story in Current Events. It probably should have gone in Op Ed but it concerns the latest Democratic lies about the Republican stand on immigration.

As conservatives we are very concerned about the presence of illegals in our country. We want a system of legal immigration and a work program that allows Mexican citizens to work in this country as legally registered aliens. Some Democrats want to portray these beliefs into something ugly and racist which they are not.

Even though we have the most pro immigration President in history Dick Gephardt and crew will try their best to smear him and they will use conservatives beliefs to do it if they can.

OH! Do any of you remember the report awhile back that the Phillipine government reported to CLINTON in 1995, I believe, of a terrorist plot to hijack jetliners and slam them into buildings? CLINTON was almost given the "architectural drawings" of what happened on 9/11. WHAT DID HE DO? As I recall, he was a little busy with "other things" in 1995.....:turquoiser olleyes:

My point being, CLINTON was given the roadmap and did nothing...the FBI, the CIA...did nothing....and continued to do nothing right on through. People in the government DID know the rumors of flying missles aka jet airliners.

I hope everyone is listening to Rush today even if you normally don't. He is making some excellent points on the subject of the so called "warning" to our President. Among those are the fact that none of the people mentioned in the now infamous Phoenix memo had anything to do with what happened on 9/11.

We should also remember that if the PC liberal crowd had not tied the hands of the FBI they could have looked into the computer and apartment of the terrorist Moussaoui.

Various congressional committees were briefed about this warning at the time it occurred. What action did they take? Did they tell the American people? *We need to remember that some of these people have been publicly rebuked for leaking classified information. If certain people were not told, maybe there is good reason for it. Remember that Senator Leahy has gone directly from classified briefings to the nearest media contact before.

Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld will be on with Rush at the top of the hour. If you love Rummy as much as I do you won't want to miss it.

Saber, yes there were many opportunities to thwart attacks for the last 10 years. Clinton bypassed many of those because he was too busy playing with Monica and lying to grand juries. I'm sure he missed others because the CIA and the FBI were so screwed up that they didn't know what was going on. And then he no doubt missed some simply because we couldn't view them in the same way pre 9/11 as we can now.

Darn, my raido is out and I don't get Rush today! Oh well, I'll live. Hey, I survived missing Buffy (the first episode I've missed in 6 years, and not my fault), so I think I can survive this, since I never listen to Rush normally. I would listen only because of Rumsfeld today.
Anyway, Fox News is about to take phone calls and e-mails from people for them to say what they think Reagan's legacy is. I've already sent my e-mail, if they read it on the air I'll let you know.

Saber, Here's a story (http://www.lib.jjay.cuny.ed u/len/2001/12.31/fortunes.html) that clarifies the Moussaoui warrant information. Apparently, it was the FBI and Justice Department attorneys who felt that the warrants could not be approved by a court. It wouldn't have mattered in the long run anyway but somehow we have to find a compromise between PC procedures that protect aliens in this country and actually protecting civil liberties for citizens.

Did anyone hear Condi Rice's briefing on the pre 9/11 alerts? It was a real media frenzy.

Angelus, the Daniel Pearl story is really sad.

lpara, I agree that this whole thing is a political ploy by the Democrats but it's working. It's even working on many Republicans.

Saber, how can they tear up your driveway and leave for a week without telling you that ahead of time? I don't blame you for being upset. Sheez!

How do I stop getting multiple replies BTW..? I must have marked a box wrong obviusly..

That's right, Lady Parrish. You can only reply to the thread here and not to the individual post.

I'm not sure why you would get a duplicate post. The software will usually ask you to wait if you click again while it is processing.

Today we honored a great man. Today, this country honored the 40th President of these United States with the Congressional Gold Medal. Today, freedom itself was honored. Congress finally awarded a medal to a former President who believed in the spirit of the American people. He stopped Communism from spreading. It gained not one inch of territory while he was President, and no other President that I know of can make that claim (current one not withstanding, as his term is not yet complete, and I don't know if it's happened yet or not). He advanced the ideals of democracy when it was not fashionable. He was a patriot when it was in vogue to blame America first.
And he restored this countries economy, despite the revisionism of some.
May God Bless Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy Davis Reagan. Reagan put faith back in the American people. Let's use some of it to pray for him.
