Drudge is trying to drum up outrage about the way the CIA treats top Al Queda leaders in custody when they are interrogated. Personally, I would expect it to be very, very rough. America is going to have to toughen up or die. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/it.gif

There are some reports out there that Frist may actually be considering the nuclear option for judicial nominations. They're talking about rewriting the rules of the Senate. We are the only peolpe in the world ( GOP ) that seem to see things as " They Are " and we are dealing with unaware individuals who have not a clue what's going on, at all !!
I'm sure some of you have heard Sean Hannity's man on the street Thursday? Well, listen today from 3-6 eastern time
and he may do it! Sometimes he can't due to higher priority coverage, listen anyway.

He's asked many people of all ages simple questions like;who
is the Vice president or who was Ronald Reagan and they have no clue!! These are people that don't know who's who
in politics or anything vital to this country, but yet they know that the war is a "bad idea" or we should fire Rummy .
Maybe they should give them polls that don't have options like a, b, or c. Simple yes or no answers with an example of why they decided yes or no, I bet you anything we'd have a lot less poll results nationwide!!

The dark glasses are required to hide the dark bags under the eyes because of the late hours due to too many irrestible topics on this forum.

The dog & cat don't understand that when I'm up 'til 4:30 am, I don't get up 'til 10 am to feed them. They have no sense of importance.

Teri - noted the article about the lack of media coverage in the ME re Nick Berg . Scumbags are in CYA-mode. Ignore evil deeds done in the name of allah but concentrate on the US soldiers. Must think it makes them look good. Have to keep sympathy on their side.

Saw a few minutes of McDermot's rant on CSPAN this afternoon. He's a real piece of work - he and Patty Murray are wonderful reps - a niece lives outside of Seattle and she tells me a lot of them would like to tar & feather these two and feed them to the sharks. They're all still focusing on the GIs and not a word about Berg. Says a lot about their character. Pelosi was "horrified" at pics of dogs growling at the prisoners". First of all, you nitwit-who-doesn't-blink, since when do pics come with sound? Second, my dog growls at me at least 5 times a day, and I just ignore him. They're going to wring every ounce of political juice out of this as possible. Hope the American public will catch on and tune out.

Then, if the ME article wasn't bad enough, you've got one with the McCain for Sec. of Defense. My blood pressure can't stand much more. Nobody believes me, but if the worst comes true, I'm otta' here - told the kids Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean. And, if I get any argument, they're not getting a forwarding address.

Good Heavens - the dog just growled again - better get off his paw!

Checked out the "Humor" section - loved and laughed at the 2003 computer - now I know why this stupid confuser of mine keeps shutting me down - haven't got the right commands!

Howdy Y'All!

Waking up to the news that Secretary Rumsfeld and General Myers flew into Baghdad overnight calls for a round of "taking action" http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpgs and http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallchockk.jpgs to munch on as we follow them throughout the day.

I'm all in favor of their surprise trip. It shows the troops on the ground that 1) they (the troops) are still the most important asset we have, and 2) that the prison mess is very serious business.

I'm wondering what the dems on Capitol Hill will have to say. "It costs too much money to go over there!", "He's just trying to take the spotlight off the real issue!", and "I didn't say he could go. I wanted to ask more questions!" are a few predictions I have. Bottom line--good move, Mr. Secretary. I hope your trip helps get some real answers and helps quiet this prison stuff down.

Closer to home, we had a landscape architect visit yesterday evening. As he was leaving he inquired where he could get a Bush-Cheney '04 yard sign like mine. He's the fourth referral I've made. I've never had a yard sign for a candidate before this year 'cause I didn't think they did very much. Wrong. They work!

Gotta go and help Linda get ready for a trip to visit the Granddaughter. You talk about being jealous...I have to go to work and she gets to see Lily. Bummer, Dave.

Reading posts here earlier...all ready angry. I think the press has fallen off the face of common decency! They want to show everything...some people of the US demand they show everything. Personally I figure my elected government know better than me and there are things that I really dont need to or want to know about. Political correctness has set in since 8 years of clinton...and now we need to dispose of that...and get down to business and butt kicking of terrorists.

Most of this is nothing more than a ploy by the lib press to discredit Bush and put kerry in the WH. That is it! I could go on for hours...but I wont.
My friend stated yesterday that she doesnt like Bush....and I asked why...and she said..she doesnt like the look he has on his face. He looks smarta** or cocky...and she thinks he is.
I then asked her...well would you rather vote for kerry..and she said NO!..So I said...then you better vote for Bush. Will send her some nice things about W so maybe she will change her mind. I have heard this comment from some dim friends..and its not a correct assumption.

I hear fox talking about the iraq prison thing.......where are those KK's Dave!!!!!!!!!!

But seriously, folks. It is becoming more and more evident to me that this whole Abu Ghraib thing is being orchestrated to discredit America and specificly our president.

1. The unemployment rate dipped below the figure that was in place when Clinton was reelected on the strength of a 5.9 unemployment rate. The rate stands now at 5.7. So much for the dims claim of a "Jobless Recovery"
2. The pictures look posed to me
3. The events allegedly took place in November, '03, when Hillary was over there, unsupervised
4. George Soros has vowed that he would spend his last dime doing ANYTHING to defeat President Bush
5. The dims have proven time and again that truth is not a priority
6. Kerry's record is rising up to bite him in the a$$. His background is so disgraceful that the dims have to come up with something nastier..this looks like it! During the Cold War, the worst thing you could do to someone was expose him as a homosexual. It could bring down governments.
7. The vast majority of encounters with the Iraqi people have been positive, yet the media REFUSES to air pictures af laughing children, schoolgirls presenting Americans with flowers, New schools, hospitals, businesses, etc. If I wasn't a "conspiracy theorist" before, this one fact could lead me to becoming one. You have to SEARCH the Internet for these wonderful pictures, but they are out there.
8. The 9/11 Commission has totally backfired, proving once and for all that the Clinton Administration was responsible for the attack on America.
9. Discrediting our brave fighting men and women while they are still in harm's way is Kerry's time-honored MO.

Good Morning All: Hope you havn't eaten to many KKs. Don't want your backsides to heavy that you can't get to the article in Immigration. We need to let the President know that we are aware of the actions of some of his lackies and don't like it. TAKE ACTION NOW. Thank you.

Our weather can't make up its mind - sunny or cloudy. At least its not like some of the weather reported in the Precinct. Presently 72 degrees and rising. Today being our shopping day, I'll be pleased if the liquid holds off.

I would imagine that Rummy's trip to Baghdad will cause a great deal of consternation with the ranks of the dims and liberals. Surely they will have their spin on what it means. Loved his talk with reporters on the way over and telling them to get their message straight and stop the distortions.

We have something for everyone today. Kind of like Terri's area. Doubt we'll have snow, though. Yesterday it was in the 80s and today it is in the 60s.

I'm beginning to be glad I don't have FOX news. My b.p. goes up about 20 points just seeing one show on Sunday morning. It's really odd, though, how Juan Williams talks altogether different when he's on that show than when he talks with Sean Hannity. Biiiiiiggg difference.

It sounds as though there was a mess over there. How widespread, it's hard to determine. Did you see the home-made video done by a 20-year old Reserve camp guard who was angry about being over there, hated Muslims, threw stones back at them when they threw stones at her and whined throughout. It was enough to turn your stomach. No professionalism at all. We were also supposed to turn soft and gooey with pity because the accommodations for the troops were cr@ppy! And they were, no doubt about it. But instead of making the best of it, she chose to whine, complain and build up her grudge against those she was guarding. Also, she was using a video camera in an area that had been barred to video cameras and she admitted it on camera. Why is it that some of these young people are all to willling to take the government's money but don't want to perform for it? Wonder how much she was paid to turn this piece of junk over to the television network. It gives another slap in the face to those troops who are over there doing their job with a minimum of complaints (except amongst themselves. I know the army travels on its belly and its complaints.)

I still have to wonder why Nicholas Berg went to Iraq. Did he have a death wish? And now his family says the U.S. military held him for weeks so he couldn't leave. I understand how distraught they must be, but why aim their anger at the U.S. Their son did what he did against their wishes and for humanitarian purposes mixed in with a high rate of pay, as far as we know. Sean played the tape of Nick's murder on his radio show yesterday so I turned off my bedroom radio. I didn't miss it, though. The Hub had the radio on in the great room, so I heard every scream. Just horrible. I would never be able to watch. There has to be something missing in a man who can saw away at a man's neck while he's screaming. Time to get back to the sewing machine. Man, I'll tell you, these old-fashioned men's pants are going to be the death of me. Hi I am new here but I think I am going to fit right in. I have read a lot of posts and couldn't agree more with most of them. I am glad to see that not all people are liberal fools althought it seems to run rampant on the web. I feel that most people don't have a clue what is going on and when they do watch news it is one of those alphabet channels that are no more than talking heads with liberal agendas.

I didn't pay much attention to politics myself before the 2000 elections where I learned what the democrats are all about; Tax and spend, abolishing the military, appeasement, and a dream of a socialist America we should all fear. Ever since that election it has been a constant attack on the best pres. we have had in a long time.

What happened to Nick Berg has shaken me to the core and I have a whole new reason to believe we are doing the right thing by taking the war to them before we witness another 9/11 here on our soil.

It has done nothing but strengthen my resolve to spread the word of conservatism over liberalism. I think my friends think I am crazy but I don't care.

Most people who are in the national guard usually dont serve any active duty time. I know I was married to one. They join to get that check for a weekend drill and 2 weeks in the summer. Most never see combat of any kind nor had they any inkling they ever would. When the iraq war started they freeze any getting out...so the girl who was doing some of this ugly stuff on the video and cursing the iraqs and throwing stones could very well have been one of those who want no more than a weekend drill. Some join for all sorts of reasons. Money and school are a few. The army needs to cull some of these folks. I know of one who was guard...and MP who conviently...got his back hurt while there....he came home...thought he was home free...NOPE...he's back in iraq.

Now I am not saying that all national guard and reserves are like this one girl, but many who have been in the guard never expected to fight. Our national guard is in memphis and nashville at the airport....and i suspect they will be there for 2 years.

Let’s all agree that the fact that the photos, provided by Black Muslims to the Boston Globe, were fake is not as important as the seriousness of the accusations depicted by the photos. American soldiers abusing Iraqi women in the manner depicted in these fake photos is unacceptable and should be condemned by all of us. The liberal horde has never cared about the validity of the charge but the gravity of the charge.

A liberal tornado is looking for Bobby in the Houston area.

Seriously; I wonder what liability the paper and those who produced these fake pictures have. These Muslim dogs should he hunted down and made to answer for this. Clearly they provided aid to our enemies with malice and deliberate thought.

This is really a difficult time everywhere. My deepest sympathy is with the Berg family. Surely this will serve to remind we Americans of why we are in Iraq. Everytime you hear of an American soldier's death there are many more Iraqi deaths. Sometimes, hundreds more. Thank God for G. W. in the White House. Because of his wisdom and courage, we have taken the fight to their territory. Otherwise, all of the Iraqis who are killed daily would be Americans.

We now have a unique opportunity to establish a Democratic Republic in the middle of the Middle East. The greatest price has been paid. We have to finish the job. If we do not, noone can ever trust our nation as an ally again. We abandoned them once during the Gulf War. At that time, I had many friends there and their hopes were high to be free. They stepped up and pronounced their allegiance to the concept of a free Iraq; only to be slaughtered when we did not go all of the way. They felt abandoned and since that time, many have been very reserved in their support of our efforts because they are afraid that we will cut and run.

It is very typical that the press have made no issue of the prisoners taken by the terrorists; i.e. Jessica Lynch, (repeatedly raped and tortured with countless broken bones and bruises), the men who were drug behind the cars and hung from bridges and now Mr. Berg. War is horrible. It is not a tea party. However, there is a side to me that thinks that these pictures look very staged. Think about it, if you were the CIA/FBI/Intelligence people and you wanted to scare the pants off of a new captive in order to get him to talk; you could stage these scenes and photograph them to be shown to the new recruits as a scare tactic??? I think that it is deplorable but honestly most of war is.

Is it ever possible to try the press and/or reporters for treason?? Especially in a time of war??

Hi Allen, to answer your question, I did know but he had just returned after missing almost three weeks due to mono so my concern for his grades had to be placed above my firm belief that this has no place in our schools. *There was buzz around that some kids were going to stay home and when one particular lib teacher found out he warned the kids that they would pay with their grades.

Afternoon All: The talk about some of the reservists made me think back over my past 71 years and my 24 years in the military. Even before I went into the military we had WWII and many of the outfits that went into combat were made up of all or mostly reservist and/or National Guard and they performed magnificantly. Read about the Boys from Bedford - they were a NG unit from Bedford, VA and 22 of them lost their lives on June, 6, 1944 - the greatest number from any one town. In Korea we had a number of NG units and many reservist and they performed equally as well. The turning point seems to have come during the Vietman War, the 60s and the Hippie Generation. We, the military, noticed that the late 60s and early 70s, that many of the trouble makers were of the activated reservist type - they wanted the money but not interested in serving. Times change and apparantly people change. Don't shortchange them, because most of the reserve and NG individuals are as good as those that preceded them, and yes we need a better system to weed out the clunkers.

Sickoflibs, welcome to the Precinct. I'm certainly glad that things like what your son was subjected to, were not around when I was in school - of course that was a different time and the teacher would have been asked to leave town or be ridden out on a rail. I think you will like being here - you can disagree and not be subjected to name calling and foul language. A good debate will allow you to put the facts in front of the group and facts are most difficult to argue with.

Nell and I got the shopping done without any rain, in fact we had nothing but sunshine. It is starting to cloud up again, so maybe we will get some before the days out.

Just some random musing that I have been thinking about all day. I was just listening to John Gibson give his commentary at the end of his show today. I have points that he didn’t think of.

The Democrats will keep on bashing Mr Bush on the subject of the WMDs, the war and the prison abuse scandle. They will not let an inconvientent factoid bother them.

Take the WMDs for instance; as you all may know President Bush questioned George Tenet very extensively and Mr Tenet assured Bush that they were there. Then was the small ignored fact, that Saddam Hussien and Usama bin Laden were working together. The guy that cut off Nick Berg’s head is the proof. Now they want the head of Donald Rumsfeld for making them look bad in the eyes of the world and that they couldn’t stand.

That is why that the Dems decided to sit on the photos showing the prison abuse until now. What really surprises me is, why they released them now and not did not wait until October. These photos would have made an excellent October surprise. Kind of makes me wonder what they do have planned for October. Guess we will find out then.

Oh here's a good one. I taped "Band of Brothers" for my dad, an old WW2 vet and history fanatic like me. Yesterday he settled down for a nine hour marathon. Right in the middle of the series, there were two bare-breasted beauties on the Tape!! I don't know how they got there. It could have been the VCR changing over from another cable channel just as the recording kicked in. I used fresh tape and left the device on timer. Any thoughts how that could have happened? Anyway it gave an ol' Navy guy a cheap thrill. Thank Gawd he didn't have a HAAART Attack! (Boston accent simulated!)

Hi all!! Saw a headline somewhere...that Berg's father...is blaming Bush and Rummy for his son's death. Am I surprised? nope...Then ran across some lawyer saying that Berg had been turned over from iraq police to american custody...I just kept turning the channel. No american would have turned him over to the terrorists.

Been another rainy-not raining now day. Typical summer I guess.

The College Republicans are sponsoring Dinesh D'Souza at Lawrence University on the 20th. *(Our party donated $500 towards his fee) I have to go because even though I haven't read any of his books I've read enough about him to want to hear him. *I really should check out our local library and see if they have any of his books. *I notice sometimes the conservative books get short shrift.

My friend came over and we sewed from 11:00 this morning until 6:30 tonight. * She brought one dress that only needs hemming *and one of the girls' dresses that's finished. *I almost finished the flag today. *I'm seeing red and white stripes yet. *(Those flat-fell seams, ya know!) *She cut out another dress and a frock coat and will sew them at home. *I don't know what I'd do without her. *The other seamstresses decided they didn't want to be on the committee, so the two of us are making all these costumes. *There must be a hundred buttonholes and my button box has gone down by half. *Some of the buttons in there belonged to my great-grandmother so they were probably made in 1850!! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif *My friend lucked into a 50 cent button sale at Northwest Fabrics. *We'd never be able to afford "silver" and "gold" buttons otherwise. *There are still quite a few clamshell buttons left in there.
