Good Morning! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif

It's Member's Day in the Precinct! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/members.gif

Welcome to all our new and old members. Come right on in and make yourself at home on this TGIF. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/compute.gif

Today's Precinct will be mostly about whatever you want to talk about. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/chatter.gif

I know some of you are tired of serious topics so make it as light as you want it. But, since politics and current events are our reason for being at http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif I'll just leave a few political quotes. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/whisper.gif

Just do me one favor and please do not post links to outside articles here in The Precinct. Instead, post any articles you wish to discuss out in the forum and post a link here to the topic you posted in the forum, if you wish. Thanks! *

Have fun and make it a good day! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Quote[/b] ]"I told him (Jordan's King Abdullah) I was sorry for the humiliation suffered by the Iraqi prisoners and the humiliation suffered by their families." President George W. Bush

Quote[/b] ]"These despicable actions have endangered the lives of our soldiers and, frankly, have made their mission harder to accomplish. We cannot succeed in Iraq by abandoning the values that define America. As president, I will not be the last to know what is going on in my command. I will demand accountability for those who serve and I will take responsibility for their actions. And I will do everything that I can in my power to repair the damage that this has caused to America to our standing in the world and to the ideals for which we stand." John F. Kerry

Quote[/b] ]"For the good of our country, the safety of our troops and our image around the globe, Secretary Rumsfeld should resign. If he does not resign forthwith, the president should fire him" Democrat Senator Tom Harkin

Quote[/b] ]"I am not questioning their patriotism, don't let them play that game again. I am questioning their judgment and ability to lead." Tom DeLay on Democrats

Quote[/b] ]"Secretary Rumsfeld is a really good secretary of defense. Secretary Rumsfeld has served our nation well. Secretary Rumsfeld has been the secretary during two wars and he is an important part of my Cabinet and he'll stay in my Cabinet." President George W. Bush

Quote[/b] ]"You know that America promised big rewards for those who kill mujahedeen [holy warriors]. We in Al Qaeda organization will guarantee, God willing, 10,000 grams of gold to whoever kills the occupier Bremer, or the American chief commander or his deputy in Iraq." Osama bin Laden

10000 grams? *How much is that, about $80k? *Kinda cheap for a mega millionaire like Osama.
Edited to comment:
I googled for the price index..$388.40 per ounce..x 12 x 22 =
$102537.6, somewhat better but even the Ayatolla ante'd up a cool million for his fatwah(sic?) reward back in the 80's.

Good morning all.

Quote[/b] ]'AIR AMERICA' MISSES PAYROLL"

I heard someone say last night that they were in no trouble at all so the people who didn’t get their checks must have been fired without notice.

As far as Rumsfeld is concerned; The investigation into this started the day after it was discovered and the press was told that abuse had happened at the prison. He may have known that there was photographic evidence but didn’t see the photos. When CBS made in known to the Pentagon that they were going to do a program on this abuse we were in the middle of the Fallujah mess and the P asked them to wait and they did. Still the P didn’t know that CBS had the pictures and if Rumsfeld had known they had the photos he didn’t know what they showed. Before you scream that he should have known what was in the photos remember that it is a criminal case that is well under way and the photos are evidence. It is ridiculous for the SD to look at every piece of evidence produced in every criminal case brought against our troops and there are a lot of cases. I’m sure that if Rumsfeld had been told that CBS had these very disturbing photos he would have told W and W would have told the press.

What I meant to say was "I wish the news media would back off the Iraqi prison mess and give us real news to talk about." Sorry.

Dave, you are not in trouble. There were several comments about the seriousness of yesterday's precinct, some made privately. So, I thought I'd give you all a chance to lighten it up however you wanted since it's Friday anyway. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif And please don't apologize. It's not necessary and I've about had it with apologies in the news lately. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Good morning, All,
Well, I'm with Terri on the idea of lightening things up a bit. I am not going to expend words on how I feel about apologies from/to the wrong people and such. All the holes in the walls of my living room will express that sentiment for me just fine.
http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I find it mildly amusing to compare the words and works of the Dems/Libs with this quote from Malcom Forbes. "Keeping score of old scores and scars, getting even and one-upping, always make you less than you are." Hmmmmm. What do you think?

Okay, so life can be funny sometimes but the thinking is clear, even in the mind of a child. Some years ago, Mamma took our then 5 year-old son with her to the grocery store and he's riding in the basket. They pass another mom with her child. The other child did something and the young mom says, "Shut up!" My son looks at his mother and asks, "We don't say 'shut up' do we, Mamma?" Mom smiles and says "No, we sure don't." Beaming with the joy that comes from being right, the boy then announces, loudly and with great pride, " And we don't say "Da** it" either!" When he's right, he's right.

On that happy note, you all be blessed by God above, and may He watch over your day with great love and mercy. Let Him help your heart smile and give you renewed courage and faith. Keep smiling and do what it takes to maximize your day!

Have a great weekend, All. God bless America, her leadership, and all of you!

On a lighter note for the amusement of Terri: A while back I broke the end of my wife's finger when I hit it with a hammer. It is doing much better now and I am about to get off of dish washing detail.

We are going into Austin today to see her lawyer on an unrelated matter, so I’ll miss Rumsfeld being grilled by Congress. I really wanted to see him tell them to shut up and back off.

Quote[/b] ] All the holes in the walls of my living room will express that sentiment for me just fine.

I have the same urges but I carry a 9mm Colt and I worry about my neighbors, the electrical system in the house, leaks in the roof, etc.

ISN'T IT AMAZINMG HOW MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACKING HAS BECOME THE THEME OF THE DEM PARTY? BUSH SEEMS TO ALWAYS BE WRONG, BUT THEY HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS, EXCEPT THEY DON'T PERTAIN TO ANY OF THE QUESTIONS OF TODAY'S WORLD. I agree he will do just fine. There's a picture on Newsmax that shows the good Secretary in a pose I'd love to see in front of some of those libs in Congress. WARNING: Some readers may find the picture offensive. Others may find it humorous. You've been warned. To see the picture, Click here (http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/rumsfeldgesture.jpg) .

An experience last night proved I've been hanging around the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif precinct and I can now brag about an episode of TV set abuse. Case in point: last night's late-night rerun of the Brit Hume show. They showed Senator Kerry in his condescending, arrogant, monotone, false resonating style. As usual he was blabbing about how "I don't have a plan, but I'll fix it." and "I don't have a clue, but vote for me."

I lost it. I absolutely lost it and spoke a few juicy expletives under my breath. I also directed a Donald Rumsfeld imitation (Click here (http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/rumsfeldgesture.jpg) ) toward the TV set. I felt so much better. Poor TV set. It didn't have a thing to do with the Senator...

My Internet radio flowing through my earphones has just announced live coverage of the Rumsfeld testimony in the next hour. It's time to break out more http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallkk.jpgs and http://www.terminweb.com/weblog/images/smallchockk.jpgs. It's also time to get back to work.

Let's not forget the brave soldiers and Marines who are still out there defending us. They've been out of the spotlight for a few days, but still need our thoughts and prayers and thanks.

Thank you Mr. President for saying what most of the American public was thinking. Some people are never happy no matter what you say, or do, because they're just not happy people, but doing the right thing is always the right thing to do.

I got an email the other day from a friend in the Army National Guard telling us what the national media had not and will not:about the tens of thousands of Iraq's children that had been innoculated, how many areas that now had drinkable water, that schools had been reopened, that girl children were now allowed to attend those schools, and that real elections would be held, those are the American soldiers in the majority.
No man ever stood so tall as when he stooped to help a child...

many thanks to our soldiers from hometowns across America who are fighting the good fight, doing the right thing, and making us proud to be Americans...may God bless you and keep you, you were remembered in our prayers yesterday at our hometown's National Day of Prayer ceremony...for those politicians who have attempted to call it a bi-partisan thing, it isn't, it's a God thing...it's an American thing...all parties were represented at our ceremony, and all joined together in prayer, and afterwards we sat all together, not as Democrats or Republicans or Independents, but as one people to partake of refreshments prepared by the ladies of local churches and we heard ministers of all faiths and affiliations speak...because we can still praise God in America together and we are thankful... http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/usflag22.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif

Quote[/b] ]Has anyone heard if the hanging of Rumsfeld in Congress will be televised today?

Rummy is on right now, Terri. He has just finished his opening statement and now General Meyers has just started his opening remarks right now. If anyone is interested, Fox is carrying it live. There were a few hecklers http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsdown.gif calling for the resignation of all of the current members of the Department of Defense. They were gentley escorted out the hearing chamber. I think these people were sponsered by MoveOn.org.

More details on the American who was arrested yesterday by the FBI. It seems that he was an attorney for one of the seven people that people that was arrested in Oregon for supporting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. It seems that he represented that person in a child custody battle. Spain has confirmed that his fingerprints were on the bag. They were matched with other fingerprints that the government had on file. As to the file; being that he is a former officer in the military, thus he was fingerprinted as per se

Hello to all http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif ns

A Big Welcome to our new member of http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif -hope you'll come back often.

Since apologies seem to be the theme of the day, I'll offer mine, also:

Quote[/b] ]Just do me one favor and please do not post links to outside articles here in The Precinct. Instead, post any articles you wish to discuss out in the forum and post a link here to the topic you posted in the forum, if you wish. Thanks! *

Since I seemed to be the only one who did this--it must have been for me--however, it wasn't a subject I wished to discuss--just thought the article I posted might have some helpful information for some of the members--it won't happen again! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/no.gif

Ya'll have a good day!! *

Stormy the OLD http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/granny.gif of http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif wishing a http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happydance.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif y day for all!

We seem to have a lot of guilt lying around. Is that a Republican trait? *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Stormy, I wasn't aware that you posted a link to an outside source in the Precinct yesterday. So I wasn't talking to you or to anyone in particular.

I ask this of the members often with the explanation that the Precinct is a daily thread which is closed each night. That precludes further discussion of any articles posted here but if they are posted out in the forum they can, and sometimes are, discussed for days. *See why I ask?

From time to time, I will post a reminder to our members about various things. No one needs to feel guilty or to post any apologies. Just be reminded. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Also, I don't mean links to something that doesn't need the it's own topic. Sometimes there is a page you want us to see or something like that. That's just fine. But articles should have their own thread.

That said, this seems like a good time to remind members of our copyright policy. Over the past few weeks we've had a lot of copyright violations and this is NOT aimed at anyone in particular. *I realize that most of you cooperate willingly and I really appreciate it.

BUT, it's very important that we observe this rule to keep GOPUSA healthy and out of court.

One of the Internet's largest conservative forums was sued for failing to observe Fair Use copyright law and they lost. We cannot and will not risk such a lawsuit.

Here is the policy.

Quote[/b] ]5. GOPUSA respects U.S. copyright laws. A small portion of copyrighted articles may be posted for the purpose of discussion. Please limit those postings to 100-150 words and provide a link to the original article. Be sure to credit the author and publication in your post. Please use the title of the article as it appears at the originating site. Please do not post copyrighted images but provide a link to them instead.

It can be found by clicking the Rules button.

IT's Hard WORK! I was talking to my mom on the phone (a rare creature, my mom..a Massachusetts Conservative !) and she hinted that people aound her are getting sick of Kerry. She cited a dip in his polls and even thinks the current nasty business at the Iraqi prison might have some connection with his campaign to smear the president. Not necessaritly the actual acts, but the plethora of pictures and the timing of their release. FOX news says that the DOD has been investigating this issue since january, so why the sudden surge of "evidence" just as Jobs are up, and Kerry's polls are down? Interesting...
Any thoughts?

Sheila, thanks for posting the John Stuart Mill Quote. The first time I saw it was on the frontispiece of The Book "Boots On The Ground". I've been quoting ever since. Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it.
I couldn't bear to watch the dims crucify Rummy on the TV, so I started sanding and painting in my under-the-stairs closet. There's also a good crawl space which will be perfect for "dead" storage.
Stormy, my Mom and Dad aren't the only Conservatives in Massachusets, but sometimes they feel like it. They used to be Kennedy democrats, and my dad grew up next door to Rose (Ted the Toad's long suffering mother). But since they voted for Reagan back in "80, they've never looked back. My Dad is a Navy Veteran of WW2 and Korea, and the latest revalations about Kerry's fake war record and medal toss really disturb him. Not to mention that Kerry let the Irish Catholic people of Boston down by pretending to be Irish, and then dishonoring his Catholic religion with his stand on abortion, gay marriage, Stem cell research, and the ancient but still very popular sin of LYING.
God Bless America
God Bless President Bush
God Bless Our Troops (all of them)
God Bless Donald Rumsfeld

I watched ALOT of Rumsfeld's testimony today, and he did wonderful! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif He answered that Dem who suggested that Rummy "step down" that he was not going to step down and he also mentioned something about the political motives of those saying he should quit. Rums was thoughtful with his answers, and he just did a good job. That veteran republican (forgot his name) said something about how they say sorry (something like that) as they put the knife in his back. Rumsfeld laughed! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lol.gif I am just proud of all of those testifying today (the ones that were getting the grilling, not the grillers). http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/clap.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yelclap.gif

A little story.
While my mom and dad were visiting England a few years ago, they came upon a memorial to over 745 Americans who lost their lives PRACTICING for the D-Day invasion. That's more than the number of casualties for the entire war on terror. What's more it happened in a few moments as a German sub fired upon unarmed troops who were on the beach. The Brits kept this a secret for almost 40 years so that morale would not be harmed and that the War could continue without this tremendous breach of security, that cost so many American lives, becoming known to the public. It was a secret that helped us win the war in Europe. I think something could be learned from this little footnote to history.
God Bless George Bush
God Bless Donald Rumsfeld
God Bless our troops
God Bless America

RIM, youngun, since I work around the clock many days, it seems, I take a few minutes at all hours of the day and night and come in and read a little bit just for a "coffee break", you might say! That way, I don't have to read everything in one fell swoop! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

MA, glad you got a giggle out of that! I got a real Belly http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif out of your post. I listened to the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/jacka.gif berate Rummy till I was about ready to throw something at the tv. The only one that had any class was Joe Lieberman. I agree the most despicible ones were the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/frog.gif, KKK Byrd and the http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wmoon.gif in the Senate.

In the House, there was more of the same from them too. I am sure glad that Charlie Wrangle wasn’t on the House intel committee. I sure hope the people of New York City votes him out this time around. The worst of the :jacka in the House was a Congressman from the land of hangin and pregnant chads, that goes by the name of Greg Meeks

Kasich has Linda Chavez and another woman on to debate the sexual tensions between men and women in the military. Personally I think that women in the military is fine as long as they don’t serve in frontline combat units. Chavez was commenting on a http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/reporter.gif concerning the intergration of men and women in the same units.

The women in the photo holding the leash on an Iraqi detainee has been charged with five counts. She is being processed right now.

Sorry, I double posted, but this is a good time to say: I think we should all send an e-mail, letter or telephone call to Rummy and the President, expressing our thoughts on the possibility of Rummy being forced out. Sound OK? http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

**WE http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/1luvu.gif RUMMY!!

Hi group!! *Finally finagled and figured and finished that friggin' fly!!

Half the day just to do it! *However, the next one should come easier. *I had to go outside twice in the sunlight so I could see to dismantle a seam. *Not fun! *the first one I simply threw away, but then I was afraid I'd run out of material!

I didn't get to see Rummy and Meyer, just heard parts on the radio. *It sounded as though they did OK except for one part when McCain started questioning them and they acted unsure as to who was to answer and then didn't answer the question. *This whole commission is a charade. *I still think it reeks of coincidence that is no coincidence. *Jamie Garo whatever her name is caught with her bare hand in the memo and the swift boat veterans speaking out against JF'nK? *I think I smell a http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/poke.gif from the DNC. *Gee, Dan, I think we need to let this info out right now. *And didn't I hear General Myers say that he had talked to *Dan Blather about these pictures. * He acted as though it was something he agreed to. *Am I wrong about that?

Mary-Lou, Rush talked about that story on his show, I think it was at the beginning of the week. *What gets me, also, is the population difference between then and now. *745 men killed then was a lot bigger percentage of the population, then. *But what was the alternative? *Of course, I'd be able to speak German without an American accent. *Maybe with a Japanese or Italian accent. *Isn't it odd? *The Germans are still against us but now the Japanese and Italians are with us. Politics and war do indeed make strange bedfellows.

The newsletter came out finally. *It seems to have dribbled out all week long. *I was the first to get mine in the mail and I live in a different county than everyone else does. *Got one e-mail and a telephone call complimenting the president issue. *It's always good to hear that one's hard work ended up in a good finished product. *Of course, I immediately saw at least 3 things that I should have done differently. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nahna.gif *Just too bad. *Fageddabahtit!!

Have to go have some more fun http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fwork.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happydance.gif now. *Good old-fashioned hand-made buttonholes. *I used to be very good at that but haven't made any since about 1957 so it should make for an interesting evening. *Did I ever tell you I'm anal retentive? *No? *Well............... ..........Once upon a time.............Fag eddabahtit!!

Time to http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pop.gif out to the kitchen and beard the buttonholes in their den.

I'm so glad Rush told that story on his show. I really believe it illustrates that in times of war, some things have to be kept out of the public eye until after victory is achieved. I'm the biggest news hound in the world, but if somehow public knowledege of an event would help the enemy, which is what's going on here, I'd rather it be kept secret for a while. I can always cathch it on the History channel in 2010, if I should live so long.
