Quote[/b] ]Just a quick note of momentary good news:
Despite monumental efforts by the cheap-labor and open-borders lobbies this week, there was no movement at all on the various amnesties and guestworker bills in either the Senate or House.
Thanks for all of your incredible faxing and phoning (or was that phaxing and foning?) this week. Believe me, that made a lot of difference.
As you know, the real danger this week (and most weeks the last two months) has been in the Senate.
1) But AgJOBS failed to get the 60th co-sponsor to make it able to break a filibuster in the Senate.
2)Supporters of raising the H-2B cap on unskilled foreign worker visas have been forced to negotiate with opponents (our friends) because of a level of citizen opposition that has shocked the cheap-labor enthusiasts. So far, the opponents of increasing the importation of unskilled foreign workers have not caved in. Your faxing and phoning of support to those opponents (our friends) has definitely helped to steel their resolve.
Obviously, either of these fragile balances could collapse at any time, so we need you to beat the drums again on Monday, but we're safe for the weekend.
Our Capitol Hill staff tells me to tell you to enjoy your weekend and try to take a vacation from the immigation issue for a couple of days. They, however, will be working through the weekend to be prepared to continue the goal-line stand starting Monday.
Thanks again.

This is good news, but without your continued writing to you reps and senators, we could lose all we have worked for.
