Recent News:
The standoff at the Church of the Nativity seems to finally be coming to an end with an agreement to divide the terrorists between European countries and Canada. Some people have actually left the church.

The latest Gallup poll shows Bush with his third highest Gallup job performance rating. He is at 79%. This must be very frustrating to the Democrats.

Good moring to all!

I showed my daughter (Charlotte) her picture on the web site, and now she thinks she's famous! Oh well... she's a natural ham, so I should have expected that reaction. Tres was proud of his picture too, and he showed it by spitting up on me. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Complete family picture will appear soon.

HI Terri, RIM and Bobby! UP AND AT 'EM! We've got a weekend to get ready for!

In celebration of Friday, I decided to do a 180 on my usual rounds of the net and started with the news reading first before posting here. Found a few tidbits that I posted, but alot of what I saw was already posted! WAY TO GO GOPUSA! Everybody's on top of things around here!

What a nut job this college-indoctrinated kid is/was, huh? The "artist" in him wanted to paint a smiley face across the US with his bombings. Notice we don't seem to hear anything about his undoubtedly "left leaning" philosophies. Before we "had" him...the media was all abuzz about how his profile was that of a "right wing extremist", of course. Now..........?...... .the silence is deafening!

OK...I have a question that will fall into "not news", but I want your opinions. Here are the facts:

My son started his job at the pet store this week. He was assigned the hours of 4 to 10 last night (after obviously being in school all day). He gets out of school and home shortly after 3, changed his clothes, and headed off to work. The entire time he is there he lugs 50 bags of kitty litter, etc. and never ever sits down. Last night he asked if he got any breaks and they told him he could have a 10 minute break (which he took). My questions are these: does this sound reasonable? School all day, work all night, with only one ten minute break? I'm forming my opinions on this and I want outside opinions because I never want to be one of those "your son can do no wrong mothers". I just want to be objective!

Good morning, all! I've been up since 6:30 this morning, which is early for me (especially given my going to bed around 2http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif0 in the morning), but I was so hungry this morning I couldn't sleep. I caved in and ate some cereal.
I started dieting about three weeks ago, and I try to eat cereal (Special K or Cheerios) twice a day and a sensible supper. But, today is my birthday, so I guess I'll have my cake and eat it, too, at least today.

Oh, I have some news regarding a friend of mine. She is a mutual friend of my girlfriend and myself, and she'll be tying the knot this June. She doesn't come here or anything, but I just couldn't help but spreading the news. I'll be playing the sax at the wedding (and I'm better than Clinton, I'm sure http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )

And before you ask, no, I doubt this friend would ever post here. First of all, she's a democrat (what is it with me and democratic friends? Oh well, I do have Republican friends too, so I guess I'm balanced), and secondly, no Internet.

Well, now that I've come here and posted something, I better go get ready to take one last final for this semester. I'll be around more during the summer.

Mona Charen's column today is heartbreaking. Her little boy was struck by a car. He is in intensive care. It's certainly snapped me back to reality about what is really important in life.

I'll go post it in Op-Ed. Prayers go out to her and her family.

Saber, the media is a real work of art. The mail bomber has to have them really confused. His friends are wondering if he has gone insane. He sure looked out of touch with reality in those film clips. The pet store is required by law to give your son a 30 minute lunch break if he works 6 hours. In Colorado he would also be entitled to a 15 minute break during the first 4 hours of his shift. I think that might be federal labor law but I'm not sure. This will be a challenge for him. It's not easy to have a problem like this on your first job but it will be good experience for him to work it out to his satisfaction.

He correctly states that the Senate races are the most important issue facing the Republican party at this time. He wants to know if we are interested in them. It would be great to see an update on the Senate race in your state. There is some news on the Allard race here in Colorado and I'll post it later today.

Afternoon all. I meant to check in yesterday, but for some reason my computer wasn't recognizing my modem?! It works today. Very odd.

Angelous - happy birthday! No dieting on Bdays! Btw - I started weight watchers online in March (I don't have much to lose, but nothing I did on my own was working) and it's been great! I'm really relearning how to eat - check it out.

Well - regarding the thing at my school. Someone commented on how the kid hadn't passed anything since fifth grade, and how that must be about three years - but he's 17 - that means he hasn't passed anything since he was 11 - 6 years!!!!!

SR ~ where I work it is the law, like Terri says, six hours work means 30 minutes for a meal break and four hours means you get a 15 minute break. *Although, I have been told that the 15 break is at the discretion of the emloyer. Not really sure, but we give 15 minute breaks.

Terri ~ it's a Sony Digital MVC-CD2000. It has an itty bitty CD disk but holds a couple hundred pictures verus the 10 or 15 pics that my old Sony (with floppy disk) held. You can get the CD-R and CD-RW mini disks just like the regular size we use in our CD/DVD drive(s).

RIM, the Yamaha is okay, but the Conn had better be an old one, or it is basically junk. I mean, any extensive playing at all means at least 2 repairs a day or something for the newer models. I've had that headache, and vowed to never go Conn again. Heheh

Angelus--I am a firm believer in celebrating birthdays at least for a week!! *Mostly, because I'm always a day late and a dollar short--but all my family would die of a heart attack if I mailed them their cards early (they all live far away). *One year I thought Father's Day was 1 week before it really was and my dad got his card a day or two early! *Miracle of Miracles! *
